iykelight: You are right that it is free because their taxes are spent well by the government. But it’s still an advantage at least to be educated in English in Nigeria. Reading a whole university course in German is a disaster. |

1972xy: This is misleading as it means you are dividing by the watered down rate. So all Govt need to do is devalue naira to 10,000/$ and education becomes cheaper. That will be just $16.9. The question is , should the rate be so absymal? What if the rate was N100/$, will we still think its cheap? This is the same stuff i see when people shout that fuell is cheaper simply because they are dividing by the watered down rate government keeps giving us. Fuel is N650 If rate was N216 like Jonathan era, that $3/litre If you use the current yeye rate thats $0.43/litre They can devalue further and still push the narrative that its still becoming cheaper What we should ask ourselves is how long will it take a mimimum wage earner to pay for a $3k fees in US and how long it will take an average nigerian minimum wageist to earn N169k to pay the same fees. Then we can know which is really cheaper 3 Likes |

iykelight: And would you like to pay the kind of taxes that the average German pays to get that free education.? If TInubu started charging us German tax rate, there would be protests on the street, and not just by Obidents, even Tinubuites/agbado people...will join in. Also, Nigeria does not export industrial goods and services, and have the kind of diversifed economy like Germany does. Blame your APC, and even all our past leaders since independence for that. Una want free education? Nothing like that, there is some paying going on. If not fees, na taxes from everyone...yes, not every German goes to university...some start apprenticeships at 16 and start earning money then. |

Harriddon: It is indeed outrageous that you are asked to pay $120 as medical school fees, when others have to borrow $40,000 a year to pay for the same degree in medicine I am also sure your cousin has a phone that is worth more than N169,050. 4 Likes 1 Share |

First off, I have a brother in Unical 500lvl med lab. So I can boldly stand behind my claims. It's shaa saddening that you had to drag a very considerate and decent student online. School fee for will be 122k, he's dividing by 2 and paying around 60% + charges. Hence 87k. That 15k, no rush, he'll come back and tell you that they've increased it to 30. He's billing you as pe last session rate. Long story cut short, he hasn't even added 1k extra. Go and apologize to him 5 Likes |

Harriddon: This is not too much considering the cost of running a university system and how much some private primary/secondary schools charge these days. Though faculty due and registration of courses is somehow too much to me. If only one thing must be subsidy in this world, it should be education at all level. It is very important for any givien society to educate its citizens, and the only way to totally kill illiteracy is through free education. Modern authority or government is a big scam in this part of the world. It is purely an avenue to enrich selected few with commonwealth. 1 Like |

nairalanda1:Lol it was a federal university. Let me even shock you as of 2021 unilag school fees was less than 20k. Would you say unilag wasn't equipped? I graduated from one of the prestigious Federal university in Nigeria and my school fees was 20k upon my graduation. Tinubu has failed. The sooner we accept it, the better for us. 2 Likes 1 Share |

See that your cousin is very considerate and has the fear of God. Ksu nursing students are paying 250k-300k as school fees, faculty and departmental due 25k above plus other etc. I know of a student that billed his Dad 500k and was boosting about it to his friend who happens to be my relative. 1 Like |

Oga give him the money and stop disturbing the airwaves. Evwn if he said it's ₦80,000 you would still be complaining about high fees. Disabuse yourself of the belief that tertiary education must be dirt cheap in Nigeria. At the same time you want the highest standards and an uninterrupted academic calendar. 2 Likes 1 Share |
