Good morning everyone, please I will like to ask, in an occasion I get a visa while I applied for school A in USA, and I got another admission in another school in the US, once I get to US, can I go to the school I got admission in instead of the one I used in getting visa?

Please kindly reply anyone that knows how this works, thanks.

Most schools only allow transfer after the first semester. Try and know the schools transfer policy prior to making such move. All the best!

Nothing.

Consulate is different in each country

You shouldhave gone to the US Consulate site in the country you live in.

What you did was think you could pay visa fees in naira via gtbank for a US visa that you will attend interview in the United Kingdom whose currency is in pounds.

Please nairaland.com has a specific living in the uk thread ....information there questions there would be relevant to your current circumstances

Good Morning great people in the house.

I need your expert advice of this.

I currently live in the Uk ans will definitely attend my visa interview in the Uk. However, before i began my applications, i have already paid for my visa fee via my GTB bank App.

So while i was about to to schedule the appoitment, i realised i needed to to make the payment to the embassy i a meant to attend the interview . So i made another payment online.

How to i request for a refund of the first visa fee i made via my GT bank app?

I will appreciate your contributions.
Thanks.

Can I ask you a question please

Hey 🤠

Why not climb up the ladder (in PhD Psychology ) in order for you to be better equipped to work in human resources, sales, or other careers where you can put your knowledge of human behavior to use ?

1. Instead of enclosing yourself in a pathway of Disability studies why not chose a major (Psychology, Sociology, Social Work etc ) that can take you to any other (in case of change of plans ) career aspects ie , business , politics etc in the future ?

2. For your US F-1 admission preparation , you have a good educational background already as well as a respected career . Send email to various Universities in the US (target your desired departments ) and reveal your academic qualifications and your present job as well as your future plans to them. You should meet a good admission counselor who will guide you towards a better program of study in your desire career .

Best Wishes 🙏

Hi Guys,
I need your honest opinion; I got admitted to a school without funding. However, I want to proceed with my I-20 requirement with the school while waiting for other schools. Do you think this is a good idea?
What do you guys think?

Hey 🤠

** If your admission is a PhD then not having any funding is a bad omen but not the worst towards your F1 visa success . Prospective applicants on PhD levels 're expected to have a reputation of being admitted as a researve player (in the future) by their Host-Universities .

1. For Bsc and MSc , not having any funding or scholarship is not something to worry about but you must proof financial ability to your host-school prior to the issuance of your Form 1-20.

2. ** Another important aspect is that you must proof to the embassy beyond all doubts that you or your sponsor possess more than enough funds to cover all your educational budgets in the United States .

Best Wishes 🙏

Hi,
I am sorry about the untimely passing of your mum. Because your reason behind your renewal is personal and important, I can only list the pros and cons of renewing while on OPT.
Technically, you are still in F1 visa even while on OPT so you can renew. You should go with your passport, updated I20, EAD card, OPT job offer letter showing dates of hire and end dates, and paystubs or evidence of financial support if you are not being paid.

Someone here (chigozieduru) renewed without issues a few months ago. See their post below. You may want to reach out to them.

[img] [/img]

Some folks on reddit have also renewed without issues: https://www.reddit.com/r/f1visa/comments/10zyq5p/f1_visa_renewal_while_on_stem_opt/

Personally, I think that it is a toss-up. On one hand, I can see a situation where the VO feels that the student has obtained their degree and has already done one year of OPT and may therefore be disinclined to renew the visa because an F1 comes with non-immigrant intent. There have also been issues of lengthy administrative processing for additional review when students have tried renewing on OPT.
On the other hand, the VO may also approve your visa as the cases above have shown. If you do decide to renew, make sure you have your approved OPT STEM extension with the other documents. I also suggest speaking with your DSO before you make any decisions.
I lost my dad while I was a student too so I genuinely understand how you must feel. Good luck and I wish you all the best.

Thank you for your response.

Thank you,
I'm going for MSC.

Hey 🤠

1. You are not going to use a different academic credentials to apply to those other schools right ? Therefore , the outcome of your next application is going to be %98 the same . U Michigan admissions office will do almost the same as Howard University admissions office . Continue with your Form I-20 my friend .

2. An account balance of over 70M is not a red flag to the US embassy, If you or your sponsor have a billion naira in your account it's none of the US embassy business . The US embassy concern is for prospective visa applicant to have sufficient (more than enough ) funds to cover his or her academic expenses all thru the studentship in the United States .

3. United States of America embassy does not juggle financial evidence (bank statement ) like those of Canada , UK , and Australia where they closely monitor your deposit and withdrawal logs in order to detect any deceit .

Best Wishes 🙏

To those seeking student visas, I hope you find the resilience to navigate through visa fees, school application costs, and SEVIS fees amidst these challenging exchange rates. It may be tough, but trust that things will work out with divine assistance.

Hi everyone,

I'm new here. I got a fully funded Ph.D admission at the University of Rochester. I'm at the stage of requesting for I-20, and apply for Visa. But the waiting time I checked on the US embassy website showed 134days. This is extremely late for me as my resumption date is August. In fact, I can't raise the visa and SEVIS fees until April ending. Pls, how do I go about this.

Also, do I need to secure accommodation in my school before filling out the i-160?

Lastly, must I have any specific amount in my account as PoF? I will also appreciate if I can join any US F1 visa group. Thank you for your anticipated responses

you don’t need you secure an accommodation before filing out your DS160. You can use the address in your I-20 (school official). People here have a way of searching for dates for visa interview appointment.

Request for your I-20, start filling your DS-160, pay your visa fee and start searching for date.

You can pay your Sevis fee 2 weeks to your interview. If your Sevis fee is paid through western Union, you’ll get a confirmation same day. So you don’t have to worry about it for now. Focus on getting your I-20, paying your visa fee and filling your ds160.

Note that you don’t have to complete your ds160 same day. You have 30 days to complete it. You only need the ds160 code to book your visa appointment.

For proof of funds, did you get any assistantship? If yes, a reasonable amount for your flight and accommodation should be fine. If no, then you’ll have to show more that you can fund your study.

Is it for first time F1 Students? I’m asking because it says (There are currently no appointments available ) for me and I have been denied once. I check almost everyday from last year Sept. since I was denied and there is still no available dates yet.

This exchange rate has become a menace and it’ll make a lot of people with no means abandon their travel process. So unfair.
