And I am telling you that the same MTN is haemorrhaging cash badly.
So it means they will soon begin to charge even more or keep selling off and streamlining to maintain which will not work after a while.
Our business environment currently doesn't leave wriggle room like it did a few years ago

So MTN bleeding in their 2023 financials negate the fact that they made profit for almost 20 years after glo came on board and they had to improve on their product offering due to competition ?

Access is a business entity owned by shareholders whom Wigwe is one of . Access is regulated by CBN and other government agencies .

The issue is not over flogged one bit! If the church leadership can't be empathetic over the death of a member , then the church has lost its place as the succor of a common man.

Morally the birthday party celebration was an unwise move on the part of the pastor and his family . Wigwe was even a fellow pastor o. Wigwe was not just a floor member in the church , he was a pastor .

If a church would not care about optics ; how then do they intend to win lost souls?

We can still say the exact same for City of David.

If Access decides to close its doors for one day, just to honour Wigwe, everyone, including the customers will understand.

I mean, the CEO, wife and child just died yesterday....

But No, they acted like the guy never existed. And then we want to kill the Pastor's wife for celebrating her birthday, days after.

Ahn Ahn. Let us be fair naa..

Maybe if the Pastor's daughter was getting married days after, they will cancel the wedding too.

The pastor is showing a serious lack of emotional intelligence imho

His church depends on the goodwill and largess of all the big name members. Even more so today when everyone is feeling the squeeze.

Nigerian big men have very big egos and if they see what they perceive as indifference to one of their own, they may not be as supportive in future.

Stoking the egos of your benefactors is very important

How do you know the church hasn't done their grieving in the 9 days after the death

Niggas die everyday B. The same way Wigwe died is the same way other members of the church have died. All men are equal in the sight of God and if church decides to mourn every deceased member for 9 days, they will be in a state of perpetual mourning.

Access cannot close its business for a day because the law expects them to serve their customers whose businesses will be impacted by their closure on a weekday that is not a public holiday .

The church on the other hand is not governed by any law that says such ; neither will the pastor's wife birthday cancellation/postponement harm anybody's business .

Wigwe was a pastor in the same church ; that should count for something at least.

U know what u are doing here is false equivalence . The pastor and his family messed up and that explains why the Wigwe family excluded them from the funeral plans . Not even service of songs ; they just treated them like strangers and fixed every Lagos program to be held at Eko Hotels

The funny thing is so many people whose faith were shaking before now have bee provided a reason to give up on the faith with the pastor and his wife's act .

I know what u are trying to do with this question . But before u go far let me just tell u what I believe .

If a member of a church dies untimely and in a tragic way ; irrespective of whether the person is rich or poor the church leadership should be seen as mourning with the member's family. This should reflect in their actions and deeds ; not just by word of mouth. Their Bible says they should weep with those who weep and rejoice with those who rejoice. They decided to rejoice while the Wigwes were weeping .

The belated birthday celebration wasn't a do or die affair . Postponing the celebration or cancelling it entirely would have been better than going ahead with it. The pastor and his wife simply didn't act based on the Bible they preach to people every Sunday. There's a time for everything . They messed up. Simple !

The woman's birth date is 8th January 1964; she clocked 60 in January . If she can shift the celebration till February because she was globetrotting , nothing stops her from postponing it cos of Wigwe's death.

The celebration was insensitive as at that time and it's obvious the Wigwe's didn't appreciate that. They have rightly locked the church out of the week-long program to celebrate the man. If the people cannot feel the church is with them through their trying moments , then the church has lost its course . Simple !

Opening up for business the very next day is quite different from an individual (a major stakeholder) in the church going ahead with a part days after Wigwe died. I'm sure any of Wigwes fellow majority stakeholders at Access that had a good relationship with Wigwe would likely not have gone ahead with a party days after Wigwes death.

I expect the church to stay open cause it serves a purpose that's bigger than Wigwe or any of the stakeholders of the church, same way Access Bank does, but going ahead with the birthday is quite personal. Although one might consider expenses and bookings that have been made ahead of the birthday...will they start making losses on all of that?

Las Las everybody don do the one wey dey in their self-interest, it's what it is.

Exactly ! Even Dangote who is a Muslim will most likely not go ahead an elaborate party like that one few days after Wigwe's death considering his relationship with Wigwe .

Like the man Wigwe allegedly provided a non-collaterized loan for the church to build their trinity towers . A loan they are still repaying o. He didn't stop there, he ensured his company paid down for 10 year lease on an office premise in the trinity towers.

The pastor and his family no get good heart one bit!

Why is it different?

A man and his family dies today, and then his salesgirl opens up the very next morning for business

This is not insensitive to you?

The greatest insensitivity here is how a company cannot honour its boss at all. If nobody can drag them for that, let Mummy rest abeg

Then for Access and Public Limiteds, it's not.

A sole proprietorship can afford to close shop because it closing shop is way less disastrous to it's customers than it would be for an Access or any other PLC.
