An 80-Year-Old Man, Isiyaka Ayinde, has reportedly committed suicide at the Watch Tower in the Araromi Imota area of Lagos State.

PUNCH Online gathered that the incident occurred at about 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.

A Police Source told our correspondent that, according to a tenant in the compound, the deceased hung himself with a rope in the kitchen.

“He heard his children shouting that he should come and see Baba in the kitchen. When he ran into the kitchen, he saw the lifeless body of the tenant hanging on a rope that was tied to the burglary proof of one of the windows in the kitchen,” the police source said.

When contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the incident to our correspondent.

He added that due to age and religious convictions, the deceased’s family insisted that the body be buried immediately.

He said, “The scene has been visited by the DCB personnel of the division, and photographs were taken.

“The family of the deceased is not interested in depositing the body at the mortuary but rather prefer burying the corpse immediately as a result of the age and religious inclination of the deceased.”

In January, PUNCH reported that a female marketing employee of a bank in Ikorodu, Lagos State, committed suicide.

The deceased, 32-year-old Amarachi Ugochukwu, was said to have drunk an insecticide.

It's just a matter of some months and death will come naturally. What a way to end it after so many years of endurance.
May God forgive you and may you finally find peace wherever you are now.

It's a shame that we do not have social security in this country, at least for elderly citizens. What could have pushed an 80yr old to take such decision. We can't tell, but we can't say our social structure is without blame.

Poor thing

Nigeria is in the final stage of doing away with social values where you can depend on community for small food and even for companionship. Even in the villages, they are becoming individualistic since they now have electricity and phones.

Nigeria is absorbing all the spill overs of Industrialisation, Imperialism and Capitalism; impoverishing the masses and pushing them to the extreme end, crimogenic environments, phone addiction, drug abuse, environmental waste and more diseases etc

I dare say Nigeria practices the harshest form of Capitalism/Industrialisation because our elites don't even provide a sort of insurance or warning after or before accidents happen. Dangote truck fit crush anybody alafia! Social media fit turn your kid to a socially awkward child, alafia! No price control on food etc. Whereas foreign countries spend billions to soft cushion the effects of Capitalism.

We the poor masses and professionals of Nigeria need to organise ourselves and finally decide what we want our country to be like. What values we'd like to keep from our history and what we'd like to adopt from overseas. Join MOP on social media, let's take back our nation!

With the bad eceonomy, every old person starting from 65 years should be given free medical care and food.

If its to make laws to gag youths, you will see them rush it in days, but to enact laws that will impact lives and transform society is what they can never know what to do. Goats

Nigeria has 220 million people that she cannot effectively manage. The challenges we face today are probably a guise to determine the productive populace who can overcome the economic obstacles.

If you commit suicide, everyone moves on and you won't be noticed because others are also trying to survive. In the end, the strongest amongst us will withstand today's economic crisis.

RIP.

In this life ehhh, struggle to marry a young virgin woman and enjoy life at peace.
Fvck any girl you want but when it comes to marriage, find a young virgin woman and marry if you want to enjoy your old age.

If you marry a woman who has been fvcked and mounted by many men, you will commit suicide at early age because your children will fight you, they will beat you and they will frustrate you since they belonged to another man.

Avoid my advice and 9jacover will cover your story.

I am still of the opinion that the matter needs to be investigated thoroughly.

An 80 year old man has seen a lot in life and should be preparing to meet his maker. I don't think its normal

80-year-old man committing suicide sounds crazy and pitiable.

I never knew why that should be the only solution to whatever problem been faced by this grandpa.

Where were his children and families before he carried out this suicide?
