odizeey: This is what Ole had to say. At least, even Ole is agreeing that he also affected the pangolo structure. He even said you guys were one of the highest pressing teams before Ronaldo and that Cavani was one of those who ensured that.

Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by patrickmuf(m): 11:13am On Mar 08 |
Jodera:I am not a Ronaldo stan but what exactly does Ole mean when he says we were one of the best pressing teams? We all complained back then about the lack of coordination in our play so, what exactly does Ole mean? At what point were we a pressing team let one of the best? 7 Likes |
Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by Jodera: 11:30am On Mar 08 |
patrickmuf:Admittedly he went overboard with that "pressing" thingy (or maybe he has his own definition of pressing) but one thing that I can deduce from his talks is that the presence of Ronaldo changed most of the plans he had entering into that season. Ronaldo might have got the goals but then to Ole, the way he would have loved the teams to have set up that season is not the way it panned out |

Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by odizeey(m): 1:31pm On Mar 08 |
Jodera: So why did he buy him? This was the excuse they gave when they wanted to blame the board on Ronaldo transfer. |
Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by ChristoBam: 3:29pm On Mar 08 |
Jodera:Exactly! And it's not even difficult. This thing we repeated here again and again and some were tagged 'Ronaldo haters' on this thread even till today. That's why I'm just really excited about the new structure were implementing now. We should never try that type of mistake in future. |
Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by ChristoBam: 3:37pm On Mar 08 |
patrickmuf: Lol just interpreted it as 'we were one of the best transition teams'. Damn, I remember how dangerous we were on the break. It was so crazy. Last thing we needed was a Ronaldo. But I understand. Woodward and co saw Ronaldo was available and could potentially sign for rivals. We had to protect that United legacy. And Ole just couldn't say no. |
Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by Jodera: 3:48pm On Mar 08 |
odizeey:You said Ronaldo's presence didn't affect the structure, so I'm showing you quotes from Ole himself that said his presence did affect his structure and plans |
Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by Jodera: 3:51pm On Mar 08 |
odizeey: There's no way he would have said "no" in Ronaldo signing when the board and even Fergie wanted Ronaldo at Man U. It's not as if Ole is some kind of Pep or something |
Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by Jodera: 4:00pm On Mar 08 |
ChristoBam:Lol... Yeah. The thing is that concerning this Ronaldo matter, Ole's interview just proved right all those who were speculating that Ronaldo's acquisition really undid Ole's plan(or whatever it is) Anyways, like you said, you guys are getting it right in the structure aspect above by putting football people in football places, we'll see how it pans out |
Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by Leyqute(m): 4:54pm On Mar 08 |
ChristoBam: Ronaldo didn’t help matters by throwing unnecessary tantrums either. There’s enough blames to go round. Let’s just look forward to a better future for the club, whoever the player or coach or top-level management is. |
Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by Leyqute(m): 4:55pm On Mar 08 |
Jodera: United managers are actually dictated to, it seems. Mourinho’s interview on his time at Man Utd would be more explosive. |
Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by odizeey(m): 4:55pm On Mar 08 |
Jodera: When you buy a star player, you have to fix him to suit your team. Buy Mbappe, Messi, you will have to tweak the system. Pep uses strikers that hold the ball, but with Halaand, it had to be different. So I don't understand why you are blaming Ronaldo for a player that Ole bought by himself. Same thing is playing out now. This was how they said it was the board and Fergie that forced Ronaldo on him. And you are echoeing the same thing. Same people who said that are lying that no one said it. 1 Like |
Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by TrebleChamp(m): 4:56pm On Mar 08 |
Jodera:Which structure did Ole had before Ronaldo joined? Was he winning trophies before Ronaldo joined to he team? David Moyes also claimed it was unfair that United sacked him, cos he believed he could have turn thing around. Ole claimed Cavani was good with pressing, but how many goals did Cavani score? Abi when did pressing become the main job of a Striker? Ole that was so useless tactically/generally, a certain Doc named him Amaka. His uselessness led to the famous e-war between OleOut (true lover of United) and Olesexuals. Ronaldo was a huge success at United, given the rubbish atmosphere he met and rubbish footy Ole and Rafiu gave us. Ole is my Club legend and i love him, but that interview was utter rubbish. 3 Likes |
Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by Leyqute(m): 5:00pm On Mar 08 |
Jodera: For Ole to say United shouldn’t have signed Ronaldo. It’s quite massive. At that time, we didn’t need Ronaldo and he didn’t need United. But like Lord Luggard, some people forced the marriage for their own reasons. The good thing about SJR is that they seem to be working behind the scenes and sorting things out without noise. They don’t trust anyone in the club yet, which is a good thing. It’s like everyone is on probation. |
Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by Jodera: 5:03pm On Mar 08 |
Leyqute:I'm not certain about this but I'm sure Ole would have little say in this Ronaldo coming |
Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by Jodera: 5:11pm On Mar 08 |
odizeey:Nobody is blaming Ronaldo, at least not me. It's just like it's a partnership gone wrong or shouldn't have happened cos it doesn't fit. And using pep is an anomaly. Pep is the top coach in the world that has a complicated system. Not everyone with his type of system will allow a striker have 9 touches a game and be comfortable. I doubt even Klopp would accept that 1 Like |
Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by Leyqute(m): 5:13pm On Mar 08 |
TrebleChamp: This Ole issue can be likened to Arteta and Klopp’s time at Liverpool and Arsenal. They werent instant successes but they each got to a level and then needed to make the next step to become real contenders. During these moments they bought the right players to take them to the next level. Not ageing daddies trying to reclaim past glories. United we’re on the verge of taking that next step, until they made the wrong transfer decisions again. I’m not talking about Ronaldo alone here. Most of the players bought during that summer tw shouldn’t have been bought - Tom Heaton, Cristiano Ronaldo, Raphael Varane and Jadon Sancho. |
Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by odizeey(m): 5:16pm On Mar 08 |
Jodera: If you are not blaming Ronaldo, then why did you quote me? Nobody believed Pep will buy a player like Halaand baba. Pep is the perfect example. Pep selects his players thoroughly. |

TrebleChamp: I don't like it when people are intentionally being dishonest. Ole was clueless. Ten Hag is just making him look like a good guy. 6 Likes |
Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by Jodera: 5:20pm On Mar 08 |
TrebleChamp:It was a counter attacking or fast transition structure. I know such structure will hardly give you league sha but I know during Ole's time most of you thought that your Squad was good enough to win the league. I once remember some people here doing head to head alongside Man City and felt man city wasn't far off away from you guys. Even forms sharing too was present here and if I can remember vividly he always finishes around that top 2 and 3. All what I know is that someone who would create all these debate would really have a structure (tho it might not be the best) and if he says forcing in Ronaldo into his team altered his plans (I mean, you guys finished out of top 4), then he certainly do have some valid points. Cavani might but score more than Ronaldo but as a team, you guys were winning matches more under Ole(without Ronaldo) than under Ole (with Ronaldo) 1 Like |

Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by Leyqute(m): 5:36pm On Mar 08 |
Jodera: He actually alluded to it in the interview. Said it’s part of the reason he has rejected some recent job offers. |

Jodera:Their was no progress under Ole, and he was rightly sacked. Ole was comfortable with his team being mediocre and unambitious, Ronaldo joining and saying he came back to win trophies made Ole and some of his fans uncomfortable. It was here people said Ronaldo was putting pressure on Ole by saying he want to win trophies. That chapter has ended sha, Ole can continue saying what he like. Ten Bald uselessness gave has given mouth to talk... 3 Likes |

Terrible back pass from Ruben Curley. 2-1 at HT A couple of the U-18 lads are in the U-21 squad tonight. Amass looks comfortable even though he’s playing in midfield. |
