Is Tinubu the problem? Because it seems Nigerians are actually just wicked to each other. We increase prices based on the situation, and even if things get better, we never bring prices down.

Apart from the government being wicked to us, we are also wicked to ourselves. Imagine all business people sitting on their high prices and refusing to reduce even when/if NAIRA gains value.

I am not moved by these estates claiming 24hrs power supply. Most times they would almost kill you with cost. You will have light, but to put on AC go hard you. It is better to just find a normal secure area as a young person and build you life. Don't fall for any estate and 24hrs power scam. Imagine N350 per kilowatt.

It's only become a problem of recent with high diesel cost and poor power from EKEDC/EKEDC. Just 12 months ago diesel was N650.

If we really want to be honest with ourselves...why would a landlord just increase the rent of a house that isn't new?

Re: Hardship: Rent Defaults Soar As Landlords, Tenants Clash by Honestey: 9:50pm On Mar 25
The property owners were so quick to increase the rentage for the same tenants who now have to pay more than triple for food, school fees, transports and other daily consumables because of subsidy removal. Most of these tenants are salary earners who are unfortunate to have an imp as Labour Union leader who is more interested in Labour Party political interest than anything else at a time like this. Like it or not unless workers salaries are significantly increased for civil servants too to enjoy Nigeria a bit, there is nothing that can stop more uppercut blows between property owners and tenants in the country.

They voted for Obi more, so Oni voters are the ones who are going to land right back in their ancestral villages if you look at it critically

It was not all about Obi. It was about equity, fairness and impartiality. Let's take a traditional rulership as an example. Let's say there are three ruling houses in which two have continously produced kings and not giving the third a chance for one reason or the other. At the time the third house asked for the right to be given a chance, I don't think it's reasonable for it to vote against their own. They are only asking the two other houses to set aside tribalism and give them a chance @fairness.

and because you can afford that....you think others should deal with the same. Some landlords work hard to erect their buildings. Tenants can negotiate payments and if landlord says no, they need to move out. You can't force yourself on someone. That is how we create entitled generations.

PointZerom:

I am a landlord in Oseni street Okota. I have told my tenants to be paying small small into my account or 6 months.

Why did government increase the price of fuel that is always there?

If you understand how inflation works you will understand that everything is connected.

Ideally, every Landlord should give adequate notice to tenants when increasing rent. This will allow for proper planning from both sides.

Honestly speaking, Landlord-Tenant cases in court should not be more than a week before judgement is giving. If the court can adopt 1week time frame for tenancy case, Landlords and Tenants won't be having problems regarding rents.

Please, kindly explain the increment in rent of a house in which if anything gets spoilt, it's the tenants that repair such thing. Because most landlords are just after getting their rents, even his the roof is leaking, it's the tenant that fixes it.

No, it is not a problem of recent as the post clearly states it was once N195. Even at the former price it was high. I had colleagues staying in such estates and asides bragging of 24hrs electricity, they couldn't afford to put on their electrical appliances. The only good part was they knew the light was there and could have a timetable of when to on/off their refrigerators/ACs.

Most landlords are not wicked; it's the situation of the country. However, unless we built the house together, my tenants can't tell me how much to bill them for rent. They should realize that this financial hardship concerns everyone and landlords buy from the general markets too. If your income can't take 3 bedroom flats, just move to 2 bedrooms undecided

True. Tenant not in the position to tell a landlord how much rent he should pay. It's the Landlord's property and he can do anyhow he wants. Thay is true .

While some tenants are from hell, some aren't and we expect the landlord to be considerate with these rents in times like this landlord increasing house rents by 30/40 percent is somehow . Some landlords will come and be comparing their houses with others , telling you how much others pay , so you must pay such.

I am a tenant and a landlord. In a span of 5 years. I have only increase rent by 50k as a landlord. As a tenant, landlord has increased rent by 50% of initial rent and he is hinting of future increase .

Somw landloord see it as Business. Will just let to beg for little consideration. How things aren't easy for landlords is also the way they aren't for tenants too

I have no problem collecting monthly rent from the tenant but the tenant must give me a bank standing order.

It's hard collecting rent annually talk more of monthly.
