Good morning all.My mechanic serviced my Toyota Highlander 2005 transmission system with Oando Dexron II last 3 months.Yesterday I noticed the car start struggling in transmission of the gear then suddenly it stop changing transmission I had to manage it home.What could be wrong?It was yesterday I checked the transmission he used and saw it was Oando Dexron because he usually leave the empty can in the car booth.What should I do please,if the damage has not be done yet. |

octoberman: Check the fluid color if it isn't black and smelling burnt, should be pinkish in color. If not black and smelling you need to drain and refill with toyota type T-IV as that is the recommended transmission fluid for that year, if it still doesn't improve, internal components of the transmission maybe damage also try to get a professional to scan the transmission let's know the codes it throws |

Macmilla: Which is caused by a bad fuel pump. Fuel pump was replaced. Like I had said earlier, got new fuel pump and it would work well for a while and then that same problem will happen . It was until I bought a tokunbo fuel pump assembly unit that I am still using till now |

quinSonia: You need diagnosis to know what's wrong with the steering. Your car uses electronic steering. It's not fuel pump pls. |

Good day all, please i need help if anyone has experience similar issue i drive a Toyota corolla 2013 model and i recently notice my car will move smoothly on gear 1 and 2 but when it get to changing to gear 3 it just rev without shifting to 3.i took the car to gear mechanic and he scan it and said the gearbox back cover need to be change that those seals on the back cover has won out.i changed the back cover and the gear started working and change normally but still rev on change to 3 and also slipped please help o auto guru in the house. |

Good morning Mech. Doctors in the house. I'm having issues with my 2002 Toyota Sienna. It recently starts having issues changing gears. I was told the ABS machine was bad so I changed for about 40k+ and it works fine for several month. I noticed a leak under and beside the drive shaft so I took to mechanic to change the seal and things now, there is no leak any longer but my car wont change gears again. I had to drive the car on low speed to a nearby gearbox engineer to resolve. He told me the ABS machine is good that all I'll need do to avoid disappointment is to change it to Pebble or Bebble and that'll cost 50k. Pls has anyone experienced this before? Note: I usually travel to Warri from Ibadan atleast 3 times in a month. |

madmelon:Then trace the oil and fix the leak. If it's oil seal, then replace it with a good one. Your mechanic should be able to handle this. |

Good evening All, Pls I need help with my 2004 Peugeut 406. Recently, it doesn't accelerate enough especially when u switch gear from Gear 1 to 2 or 3. Infact, on gear 3, it stalls as if I want it want to go off. Worse still it struggles bad to climb small hills. But if I switch off the engine for a few seconds and restart the car, it moves well and then starts same process of dragging after a few meters. And when you off engine and restart the car, it moves well for like 100 meters and drags when u change gear to 3. Even if you press hard on the throttle, the car drags badly. It is not fuel issue, cos there is enough fuel of over 20 litres in the car. Pls I will be glad if I can get meaningful ideas as to the problem and solutions. Thanks in advance. |

Good evening bosses in the house. My honda civic 2007 jerks while pressing the accelerator down. We have clean the plugs and injectors and the problem still persist... I took the car for scanning and it read rocker arm pressure.... I saw it here from a guru on nairaland that only the rocker arm pressure switch should be change, but the technician said we should change the whole rocker arm. The problem is he hasn't even check the problematic part too know if we can still use it or change the switch alone. He insisted on changing all the rocker arm pressure... Any idea on what too do please |

Lekan239: What is "rocker arm pressure"? What codes are you getting? Your kazeem wants to start by changing the whole rocker arm? What exactly do you mean by " whole rocker arm? Anyways, your problem might have nothing to do with your spark plugs or injectors. Check these in this order. Oil level Oil thickness Vtec solenoid screen (filter) Vtec solenoid Picture is of k24 rocker arm.

CharleyBright:I had a very similar experience on my Honda V6. Like exactly what you described. At first I thought my gear has packed since the thing will move well on gear one but starts misbehaving in gear 5 and eventually can not overtake a tortoise. It ended up being the oil pump. Maybe you should check that first. Note: it is always adviceable to change the fuel pump as a complete assembly, not just extracting the actual fuel pump. A couple of things in that assembly helps the pump work well and last long. Things like fuel pressure regulator, fuel filter, etc. If you don't change them, what happened to the first pump might happen to the new pump. I'm talking from Honda experience. |

Macmilla:I rescan again this morning using my obd2 scanner, and I got this code I'm not comfortable with the technician changing the whole rocker arm, that's why I'm asking questions here on what too do and rescanning again... it's show rocker arm Pressure on his scanner but it's not showing on mine.. I want too take it too another technician today to check his inpute too

Macmilla: Thanks for sharing your experience. My fuel pump is okay. I had changed it sometime last year even when the former was still okay. A mechanic recently said the pressure from the pump is okay. You mentioned OIL PUMP. I don't know if that could be a problem, but I haven't changed it recently. You also mention Fuel Filter. The filter was cleaned recently. So that rules it out . The Fuel Pressure regulator is what I don't know about. I read online that it could also cause the car dragging because there isn't enough gas burning to accelerate the car. I will have to consider that issue. The set of plugs are new. The nozzles was serviced. I don't know about the throttle cable if it can also be a problem. It doesn't feel right on pressing it. Something isn't okay with the throttle cable. Do you think that can also constitute a problem? |

Lekan239:The problem you described is classical of Honda VTEC malfunction. I don't know why you didn't get the code on your own scan, but I'm sure your kazeem's code reader wasn't lying. The other codes you got can be other coexisting problems. At this point, just take your car to a good technician. |

Macmilla:I took the car to another technician today. We cleaned the rocker arm pressure switch, and also the oil pressure switch... and the problem was solved.. The initial mechanic I was using insisted on changing the rocker arm pressure without him even checking too see what might be wrong

CharleyBright:1yr is enough time for a lot to go wrong. CharleyBright:How did he know? Did he use a pressure gauge? What value did he get? What is the normal value? CharleyBright:That was an error. I meant fuel pump. CharleyBright:The fuel filter in my Honda is sealed. You really can't clean it. I don't know about peugoet. But I doubt any filter can really be cleaned. I still suggest you change your fuel sending unit as one, not just the pump. |
