There's never been a time it was more advantageous to hold naira over dollars on a long term basis.

This past weekend was very interesting because I got into some very deep, in person discussions about what Nigeria is all about. One of my interlocutors gave an elegant and convincing explanation of Nigeria as a FRAUD masquerading as a country. Somewhat complicated but easy to grasp.

The belief that refineries will lead to cheap PMS is not supported by facts. Nothing major produced in Nigeria has ever been cheaper than the foreign alternative. Not sugar, rice, textiles, flour, or even cement. Importation of PMS will be banned and we will pay more eventually.

I'm betting this guy will be right. APC is a party addicted to government control. Why is the Nigerian government so keen on restricting access and use of dollars by ordinary citizens?

Time will tell. I'm going with the long term trend, it rarely fails. Abandoning Nigeria and their damned currency is one of the smartest financial moves I made in my own life.

Reno unfortunately, in putting up this write up forgot one critical issue.

As at when the refinery was launched, it is on record that it cost dangote $21billion to build, dangote only put up $3billion, the remaining $18billion was acquired through loans.

That means in the next few years, CBN has to clear at least $18billion leaving our economy (interest not included).

So anyone thinking that just because the refinery is operational, mean huge forex coning in, isn't really thinking at all. If the loan was sourced locally, E for make sense....apparently it wasn't!

Follow Reno short sighted advise now & cry later.....
