Focusing on 52 conceded goals is funny. In 2014, Liverpool conceded 50 goals and finished 2nd in the league. In 2012 Arsenal conceded 49 and finished 3rd. Just last year Brighton conceded 53 (more than 52) and finished 6th. In 2022, Manyoo conceded 57( more than 52) and finished 6th.

Same manyoo has won league in 2000 whilst conceding 45 goals.

The gap between 45 and 52 is a lot smaller than 52 and 63.

Our defence is not the reason we are languishing in thr bottom half of the table. Maybe it has something to do with a terrible attacker that played a whole game with taking a single shot.

Funny thing is if they sterling, Jackson etc had scored hatricks and we won 6:0 or 8:0 the narrative would have shifted to they only scored against relegation candidate and plumbers from Sheffield. Sheffield united have now scored 8 goals in 4 games. Everybody who has beaten them has had to outscore them.

They led Bournemouth by 2 goals. Led Fulham by 3 goals before VAR, and were drawing 1-1 with Liverpool in the 80th minute 3 days ago.

They were even drawing City 1-1 in that game.

What everybody seems to know, except for Poch and a lot of you on this thread, is that Sheffield are terrible defensively, and so the job of outscoring them is easy.

Sheffield scored the same 2 goals against Brighton this season, and still lost 5-2. Scored the same 2 goals against Luton and lost 3-2, scored the same 2 goals against Crystal Palace and still lost 3-2, e reach our turn now, and I'm hearing all kinds of excuses as to why we can't score more than 2 goals against a team that even Burnley have given 5 this season.

One of the reasons I asked us to fix the attack in January, was because the Jackson we have as our top 9, is not even qualified to be our top striker and we needed a replacement to rescue the season asap.
No alternative as your Jackson kept on stinking the joints weekly, with irritating displays in front of goal.

This is why I agreed with Trevor012 when he says penalties are masking Palmer's true attacking output. City dominated the match from start to finish, completing over 900(!) Passes, finishing the game with 81% possession, and firing almost 20 shots at the keeper.

They did not win because the kept cleansheet after scoring from a corner and a fortunate punt at a shït keeper.
