The Nigerian Govt can start with the below:
Facilitate seamless connecting flights to other airports (Enugu, PH)
Govt patronage
Priority Baggage Handling

Well, maybe for argument sake let's agree FG does all that for Air Peace at no extra cost , so how does Air Peace turn that to increased profitability in the long run ?

In all of these ; all I see is air peace trying to survive in an international space where so many foreign airlines have already gained enough market share .

Air Peace like most Nigerian airlines has been enmeshed in controversies around flight delay , poor customer delivery , etc . Dem dey get normal regular 4ck up on normal local route .

Now imagine I want to travel abroad and there's air peace that has disappointed me on local flights few times and then there's BA . Let's say air peace is $700 and the BA is $650. No matter the amount of patriotism I have , I will gladly opt for BA. I won't care about supporting our own at that point .

I will use the auto industry here in the US as an example.

American car manufacturers (Ford, GMC, Chevrolet, etc) gets incredible amounts of tax breaks, monetary incentives, subsidies and other protectionist policies/ legislations to keep them competitive and afloat against international cars manufacturers like Toyota, Honda, Nissan.

Both companies are in the same industry but one gets home advantage.

Auto industry isn't airline industry

Auto industry is an accepted parapo

Airline industry is a service industry not a manufacturing one. So long as the plane is Boeing or Airbus, USA doesn't give a shït if the flight attendants and pilots badge says Emirates, Etihad or Delta.

If Delta Airlines now starts buying China planes, that's where protectionism will come in.

I dont believe Airpeace brought the price reduction strategy, I believe BA and Virgin has been ripping Nigerians off with high cost of fares of direct flights. What Airpeace brought to the market was competition and charging the normal rate that the flight should cost and not the exorbitant prices that BA and Virgin were charging.

What BA and Virgin are currently doing is charging way below the fair market fare so as to stifle out Airpeace from the market. This I believe is where the FG needs to protect Airpeace.

The only way I believe the FG can protect Airpeace is by giving him tax breaks, waivers and the likes to reduce his operational cost so it can compete favorably with the foreign airlines. The foreign airlines wont want to continue to make losses and they cant underprice the route for long. The FG just need to help Airpeace to withstand this initial storm.

BA and Virgin are premium brands. What they charge is their business. Even here, they charge double, so those looking for value use EasyJet, RyanAir, Turkish airlines etc

I guess the driver is trying to stop the bus since brake failed by bumping into coverts
The people that jumped into ocean are the one close to the door

Wild guess

Same should be done in Nigeria also. All our Govt cars from FG to NASS to SG and LG should be made in Nigeria.

Imagine the jobs that policy will provide for Innoson, Nord and the likes.

It will save us forex, create jobs and in the long run establish our own automobile industry.

If not anything. Most of our manufacturers need govt support at this moment for us to have an accelerated economy growth.

I agree most cars should be Nigerian made, so far the maintenance industry is reliable. Police, LGA, Civil service vehicles etc should be mandated to be local made.

I don't see Governors, Senators and Ministers using Naija made though for the simple fact the cars have to be bulletproof.

You can't put bulletproof wrapping on an Innoson. It's a waste of expensive bulletproof. The car must be reliable before you put bulletproof so you get a long life out of the bulletproof. Bulletproof is more expensive than the car itself

It would mean they are able to remain on London Lagos route. Being profitable on that route is different from AirPeace profitability in general.

People whose final destinations are other city will most likely go with AirPeace + Goat Meat peppersoup+Efo Riro at 36k Feets.

With regards to Airlines messing up - nothing way AirPeace wan do wey BA never do, foreign airlines are the same.

Wrong...

In 2020, the United States through an act of congress bailed the 10 major Indigenous American Airline to the tune of nearly 60B in direct payments, others were in form of subsidized loans and suspension of different taxes for these American airlines. This ensured they were able to keep staff, reduce furlough. This is just an example..

That's COVID due to flight bans, almost every Govt did that and in all industries affected by COVID, not just airlines. Airline is simply not a Govt priority

Well written bro, FG should also find a way of bringing down the price of aviation fuel. That i believe is the primary reason for the high cost of flight ticket even within Nigeria local airline...

I did said it here the day they started the London route that I hope they dont bring the nonsense they do on local flights to international flight. Airpeace are notorious for canceling flights abruptly, postponing flight without notice among other nonsense.

They need to improve their services on their local flight routes which will in turn give customer confidence of using them consistently on the international route.

Just like Ibime said, BA and VA are premium brands and if Airpeace want to compete with them, their services must be premium also. That's one way to increase their profitability in the long run.

Few pages back, I said Airpeace needs to review their strategies and then liase with the government for support.

Airpeace need to strategize on a medium and long term plans on how they want to survive this rough terrain.

I just the Lagos to London route this afternoon and the Airpeace price is still the cheapest direct flight so I'm not sure where Onyema is seeing his own fares from.
I think he is probably referring to the Kenya, Ethiopia, Egypt or Air Maroc who where always cheaper than BA/Virgin cutting further would eat into the share he was hoping to capture.

So, if Lagos London with stop over is $300 cheaper, that's a game changer for the lower end travelling customer cos family of 4, that's $1200 that could be saved.

I don't see a scenario where Virgin/BA price is cheaper than AirPeace, they probably up the effizy of their product e.g Aircraft Type, Food Offerings.

I believe Innoson and Nord can actually produce SUV that are reliable with sure bulletproof.

But I agree that we should start with the MDAs, Police, Civil Service and LG first.

I know FRSC and Police are patronizing Innoson during Buhari tenure, they need to up the scale and make it a law. It mustn't necessarily be Innosom per say in the law but vehicles that are locally made.

Thank you. I think this is what I'm talking about. The subsidies can go to all the local airlines so it doesn't look like Airpeace alone is getting preferential treatments.

Direct flight has always been expensive than stop over flight. I believe Onyema should've expected this.

He cannot or shouldn't be comparing the price of his own direct flight to stop over flights that takes longer hours.

Direct flight of Lagos to London is 6hrs, stop over flight can get to almost 18hrs.

Someone in Nasarawa probably knows more about Lagos, not someone in Lagos knows about Nasarawa. Half of Lagos population might not be able to name 3 areas/towns in Nasarawa

If a Nasarawan is trying to do business in Lagos, its for him to learn the ways of Lagos, Not for Lagos to learn about him
