Hello house, Does having a conditional admission affect whether the VO denies a visa. I got an offer in Lamar university and it states “Your admission status is based on departmental recommendation. Full admission status will be granted once you have completed 12 graduate semester hours with a minimum grade-point-average of 3.0. Thank you 1 Like |

Ayosharon4321: Very unusual from Lamar uni. Why is your admission conditional? Would the conditional status reflect on your i20? 1 Like |

kes4glory: Congratulations. This is huge. All glory to God first. Now, please don’t look for any alternative funding source yet. Ask your department whether they have GA/TA position in place. Usually, department have this fund for you so that your tuition can be waived and you can get paid stipend every month while u study. Also, the chance of visa approval is high when u secure some funding. Email the graduate coordinator. I think for u to secure admit at this time when it’s already late mean that you’re on to better things ahead. Congratulations once again. UF is no mean feat 2 Likes |

Please who knows the next available date for students starting school in August? |

Please what if you get some funding, but still have about 8k deficit. How best can one show proof of ability to cover the remaining cost, to increase the chances of one's visa getting approved? Personal account? Relative (mum, dad ,uncle, etc.) or Mpower loan? Thanks in advance for your response. Alakoriomo: |

hello house, pls I would like to my application to a school in the Us for undergraduate program, I have worked as pastry chef for the past 6year at a professional level and would love advance my knowledge now with an international experience, and I would love to study either business administration or an hospitality program and I am really confused on which area is best for international study |
Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 17 by Alakoriomo: 3:43am On Apr 15 |
dgee1: Please don’t take MPower loan to the US consulate in Nigeria. That can work in other countries The best would be your own money, follow by sponsors money like your parents While it’s important that you take proof of funds to the embassy, the VO won’t necessarily look at it. So it depends on how well you’re able to articulate your case when asked about how you’re going to pay your deficit. Likewise, $8k deficit isn’t that much. Stop panicking, your visa will be approved by Gods grace 6 Likes |

Ayosharon4321: Your gpa must be the reason. You didn’t answer the other question. Anyhow, congratulations and best of luck. |

What is your gpa? If your CGPA is low, it might be the reason you were given conditions. You need to prove yourself in the first semester. Ayosharon4321: 3 Likes |

It is likely due to your GPA. A GPA less than 2.5 is equivalent to about a C grade which is considered a very low grade. Some universities view your undergrad GPA as an indicator of your grad school performance. The program probably conditioned your offer so that it does not bring down their graduation percentage. Some masters programs would rather kick out a poor performing student than have that student lower their program completion percentage. If I were you, I would wait on other programs to see if I they would make me an unconditional offer. A conditional offer might be problematic in the eyes of a VO. Ayosharon4321: 3 Likes |
