According to your link

Access to electricity (Nk) - 52.6
Access to electricity (NG) - 59.5

Access to electricity in rural areas - unavailable data. So I don't know where you saw your non-existent rural power.

Other notable data to take note of.

55% of households in North Korea have access to cheap solar systems (https://www.reuters.com/article/us-northkorea-solar-feature/cheap-solar-panels-power-consumer-appliance-boom-in-north-korea-idUSKCN1RT2P1/)

Increased power generation by private companies has resulted to North Korea having 22 hours daily electricity (https://english.hani.co/arti/english_edition/e_northkorea/878329.html)

You clearly did not understand the data

That 52.6 for NK was only for those in the Urban area...there was nothing for the rural because their rural areas lack electricity...so I am actually right when I said Nigeria is far far better than NK in access to electricity.

Reuters is not a source of data when it comes to energy...I can also pull out source that disagree with you.

Mille:

Meanwhile in Nigeria, they will count me that has 2 hours electricity every 4 days as having access to electricity. Go to Ibedc Twitter page and see people complaining everyday of not having light for weeks. Those ones too will be classified as having access to electricity.

As a student, I was posted to do my IT in Isaga-orile near Abeokuta, Ogun state. I spent one year in that place. I only saw light once in that town for just 10 minutes. 10 minutes in a year will also be classified as having access to electricity.

Like the Yoruba adage says, Ti won ba n tan e, ma tan ra re. Make we no dey deceive ourselves.

Btw, see attached image. An electricity distribution company had the audacity to release to the public that it supplies people with 0 and 1 hours electricity daily. I'm sure you'll classify those ones too as having access to electricity.

Like I said even the countries people like you will classify have more electricity than Nigeria..there are places you don't get 5 hours of electricity in SA.

Just now someone was shouting Nigeria my country just because writer posted news about Tanzania shutting down grid due to excess supply which does not translate to having 24-hour energy.

All the above does not happen in Nigeria. It's the other way round. Government has absolute power here and can do anything and get away with it especially when the leader is aligned towards the USA , all violations if human Rights will be overlooked.

The ultimate enforcers of democracy are the citizens not the Govt.

It's just easy for us to blame the US govt, when Americans have issues with the govt they take it up with the govt with one voice, but we expect the US govt to side with us against the FGN. Who does that? People we elected and gave power?

Our problem isn't democracy or the Us govt, it is first us refusing to come as one and allowing major institutions to be captured by the few.

The US isn't the FGN watchdog.

You shouldn't be making any estimate based on videos you've seen.
I don't like discussing the Israel/Palestine matter cos of it's complicated nature.
Would you expect Palestine to accept being anti semic or the Israel to accept the genocide claim?

There's no place I said Protest is wrong and I feel like if I continue to express my opinion you'd intensionally misquote me.

Govt determines the extremes of protests, once it gets to a certain threshold as determined by the Govt they would use force.

People can protest and they can also change the govt, atleast democracy allows for that. what other system of govt allows for dissenting views? There's no perfect democracy in the World.

I think the US condemns when the protests leads to deaths as a result of govt high-handedness.

Share a link, so I can read what exactly happened in the protest you're taking about.

@bolded that's my point. but USA and the EU expect others to maintain the standards that they themselves cannot uphold. They expect their enemies to stand down and do nothing even as protests turn into riots, as sponsored "rebels" take up arms against governments. The funny thing is that there's no riot or violence going on, yet they are arresting and threatening students everywhere as if it's Uganda grin

Lol if it doesn't affect the scheme of things in the global affairs, USA won't be all over the place trying to persuade Niger to change their mind. They are becoming irrelevant in international politics especially in Africa and they hate the fact that Russia is the one giving African nations the boldness to dare their former colonies and the USA . It's a known fact by everyone.

Politics is a game of interest, no permanent friends no permanent foes.

Russia isn't doing anything, it is just bad governance by the leaders of those countries and Russia seems like the alternative to the US/EU. Let's see what they would gain by having closer ties with Russia.

Let's see what Russia would bring to those countries that are seeming to want closer ties. Those leaders who invited Russia, are they doing it on behalf of the people or to protect themselves in power?

The US would rather have Europe on lock down over Africa at the moment, and there are still significant portions of Africa aligned with the US.

Russia is losing influence in former USSR republics, parts of Africa can't make up for that.

Is it US/EU fault we have bad electricity in Africa?

What Russia is trying to do is replace western dependence with Eastern dependence, either way it isn't good for Africa.

We have 54 countries in Africa, and a significant portion have strong ties with the US, the most powerful African nations actually. Russia's influence in Africa isn't as strong as you're hoping.

Personally, Africa isn't ready for anything Nuclear, we are too unstable there are other safer alternative for electricity.

Even Russia and China don't want war with the US/EU, you're misinformed on the power disparity between them. If the US/EU comes for any nation I can assure you, China and Russia won't get involved militarily. They barely have enough to defend themselves against NATO.

Israel is a good example, what is Russia or China doing bout it? Nothing just condemnation here and there. And Israel is just an ally.

The level of influence the US has, I can assure you, China or Russia won't get that level of influence even if the US crumbles.

This one went there trying to provoke a reaction. Who in his right mind would do that in a violent, antisemitic protest as they call it?

They are more peaceful than most protests I have seen but Western leaders are all dismissing them as antisemitic gathering, with Netanyahu suggesting that more should be done. Texas has already unleashed the police on them and many are being unjustly arrested and beaten.

Then I don’t understand what is going on?

Azeri president said his country had never sent any weapons to Ukraine and they will never, but the pro Ukrainians claimed Azeri sent them weapons before.

One country is shutting down some power plants due to excess supply while my own country can’t even power a state in Nigeria successfully. I don’t know why state governments don’t invest in power plants to ease that yeye federal plant.

The Situation on the Southeastern Frontline of Ukraine has apparently gone worse with Ukrainian Defensive Lines reported to have occurred Overnight in the Donetsk Region after a Heavy Assault by Russian Mechanized Forces.

It's actually the opposite.

They (US/NATO) came to Ukraine and we all know what happened next. Now they can't even get in through the front door because they're afraid of Russia.

The top 4 most powerful African countries (militarily & economically) have stronger ties to Russia than the US.

Egypt, Algeria, South Africa, Ethiopia etc. Egypt became Africa's most powerful military thanks to Russian weapons that it buys.

Egypt even Turkey now have several Nuclear Power Plants, all thanks to Russia. Something the US would never do, not even for their so called NATO partner.
