Ogun PDP Chairman To Adebutu: You Caused Party’s Loss In 2023 Election by OmoOgunOriginal(f): 12:51pm On Apr 26
The turmoil within the Ogun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party on Thursday, escalated as the state chairman, Sikirullai Ogundele, attributed the party’s defeat in the 2023 elections to the gubernatorial candidate, Hon. Ladi Adebutu.

Ogundele accused Adebutu of exhibiting authoritarian behaviour, disregarding party leadership, and refusing counsel, which, he claimed, contributed significantly to the party’s failure to secure power in the state.

He lamented that despite pleas from influential figures like presidential candidate of the party in 2023 Atiku Abubakar and former president Olusegun Obasanjo to include former governor Gbenga Daniel on the ballot, Adebutu allegedly remained obstinate.

He said, “The reason why we are not in power today is because of Hon. Ladi Adebutu. 90 percent of the reason why we are not in government today was caused by Hon. Ladi Adebutu and this is because of his high-handedness, he does not listen to anybody’s advice.

“Adebutu has been the major reason why the party has been failing since 2019 election. I don’t think Adebutu himself is interested in becoming the governor.

“Atiku came to Abeokuta twice to plead with Adebutu that we should put OGD (former governor Gbenga Daniel) on the ballot, but he refused. If we had put OGD (Daniel) on the ballot, the party would have won many seats at the election.

“Everybody was aware that Atiku came to Ogun state twice to beg him (Adebutu). Obasanjo too begged him, but he refused to shift ground.”

Ogundele pledged to reclaim the party’s integrity from Adebutu’s influence, emphasizing that the PDP should operate democratically, without being beholden to any individual.

Ogundele insisted that PDP is not anybody’s personal property.

He said, PDP must be seen and run as a political party that is fair and just to every member irrespective of his or her financial status or position.

Also speaking, the deputy governorship candidate of the party at the 2023 election, Adekunle Akinlade said, the party must be better repositioned to defeat the ruling party in 2027.

He said “What we are saying is that, if we must win or perform differently in 2027, we must reposition this party, we must bring in everybody to this party, we must make everybody feel comfortable that this party is for all of us.

“We must put the past behind us, we must put 2023 behind us and forge a strong front that can give the opportunity to face whatever the future holds.

“The party must be more disciplined and our leaders must have the right temperament and good character”, Akinlade said.

But, reacting, Adebutu described Ogundele as selfish, describing his attack as a “foul cry from a man after his own personal gains”.

Adebutu who spoke through his spokesman, Afolabi Orekoya said he was not perturbed by Ogundele’s allegations and would not join issues with him.

“The chairman is just on his own, out of 57 state executive council members, if it is only the chairman that is alone saying that, then you know that there is more to it.

“We are not joining issues with him, he is the only one on that journey, he was the only state executive member that was at the meeting out of 57 that is to tell you that it is more of his own personal thinking.

“Was it Adebutu that went to disrupt or cause violence at Sagamu where elections were destroyed? Was it Adebutu that gave the judgements at the courts?

He is crying foul because of his personal gain and enterprise, we are not perturbed and we are not surprised.

Adebutu and Pdp should go and sit down somewhere.

Yewa axis should be able to produce the next governor, any credible candidate apart from Yayi should be considered

Why apart from YAYI?

How can he be senator for a decade in Lagos state without even making any tangible impacts in ordinary Yewa that he his from not to talk of Ogun state.

Now that he realized his ambition for Lagos is not possible, he suddenly remember the existence of Ogun state bah.

He can continue representing Yewa as senators but that ambition of Ogun governor, he should just forget about it .

Seen

Yayi is Chairman Senate Committee on Appropriation. He was Chairman, House Committee on Public Accounts.
Go and look at the road to Ilaro. In fact, all the roads to Yewa.

Oh

How many times was the contract for that road was awarded?

What's the major role of senators if not over sighting the government projects and policies.

If he has been a senator for almost 2 decades and the contracts for that same roads was awarded severally without any development yet he couldn't speak out about it, then he must have probably got the as usual kick back and care less.

He really cares alot for the state

Btw, could you tell us what he has done for the Yewa people, make we forget about the rest of the state for now, I am not talking of sharing of foods or boreholes oo

Go to Surulere and ask of Gbaja.
Go to Ikeja and ask of Faleke.
Faleke is even in House of Reps o, but chairs the same Appropriation as Yayi.
Now, go to Abeokuta and ask of the achievements of Dimeji Bankole as speaker.

Dimeji didn't do anything, but at least he completed Ota bridge.

Yayi has nothing to show in Yewa.

Go to Ikeja, hahahah

I guess na the Ikeja people go come and vote for him in Ogun state then.

We dey wait for him and his boys. Yewa no kuku get relevancy in Ogun Politics, combo of Ogun central and Ogun East don do

Yayi cares for which state?

Well, I don't know about what he has done. Maybe those people pushing his candidacy can tell us.

That was a sarcasm. He never did anything for the Yewa people, not to talk of Ogun in general.

He didn't have any intention of governing Ogun state if not he would have been doing some projects background, he was eyeing Lagos state seats but he later realized the ambition in Lagos is not possible.

I don't think you understand my post.
Let me explain it to you.

I'm referring you to Yayi's contemporaries in Lagos and what they achieved and how Yayi has nothing to show.

Now I got you.

Those pushing Yayi don't know about how Ogun Politics dey work.

Obasanjo is irrelevant in his ward, I said it on this forum before the last election that Amosun would be going for his last political position in the state after then , irrelevant, Daniel, Amosun only command few base.

May be because of his association with President Tinubu, that's why he thinks he stood some chance but trust me, president Tinubu himself would deliberately stay out of Ogun state for so many reasons.

All president Tinubu major outbursts before the election happened in Ogun state, it get why

Exactly.

So, he wants to be like Fayemi and Aregbe who were in Lagos and went to contest in other states.

His own is worst. He didn't even look back. He might have good records in where he represented in Lagos state but nothing to show in ordinary Yewa now to talk of Ogun state .

How far is Lagos to Ogun state that he wasn't even part of the local politics self..

What an insult on the people of the state
