FG begins demolition of Landmark Beach for Coastal Highway project The Minister of Works, Sen. Dave Umahi, on Saturday in Lagos, flagged off the demolition of a section of the Landmark Beach, the Mami Chula Beach Lifestyle, to give way to the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway Umahi began the demolition after he inspected kilometres 13, 16 and 20 to ensure the most economical and viable way to access the coastal roads without much damage. He noted that the demolition was necessary since the landmark centre was located on the Federal Government’s Right-of-way. He stressed that several structures would be affected by the demolition, adding that compensation would be provided. Umahi said, “So with the utmost fear of God, gratitude to God Almighty and the commitment to President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda in our infrastructural development agenda in particular, I wish to flag off this demolition. ”It’s in a right-of-way within the coastal corridor which is the legitimate right-of-way of the Federal Government. “Before the flag off of the demolition of the landmark, I graciously increased the grace period by another seven days and yet another four days and here we are because the project stopped because of lack of demolition. “And I want to commend the likes of Bolaji, incidentally from kilometre zero to four from what I’m seeing, he is the only one that is majorly affected. That’s the only infrastructure I can see that is affected.” The Minister, who acknowledged that some people were opposed to the project, insisted that it was necessary for economic development. He assured those affected by the demolition that they would be adequately compensated, adding that documentation would start between May 2 and May 3. Umahi also assured that he would be available throughout the week to address any confirmation or payment issues related to the demolition. Responding, the Chief Executive Officer, Mami Chula Beach, Mr Bolaji Ariyo, acknowledged the project’s necessity for development, even when it causes inconvenience for a small number of people. He said, “We all hope this is the renewed hope that we all clamoured for, during the campaign, we all prayed for development in Nigeria. “And some of us have so much belief in Mr President that he will do it well, and this is an opportunity. “For example, I’m a Lagosian and this is also a development that has been set down for a very long time. It is good that Mr President is doing that right now. “It is unfortunate. We all prayed for development, and in every development, some people pay the price and sacrifice for the development. “You might be wondering why I’m talking like this, maybe because I was also on the other side before, so, I understand what governance means. “I understand when a government is promising to make life easy for the entire Nigerians. ”Some of us are affected, no doubt about it, but those of us affected are not up to 0.1% of the millions of people that will enjoy the coastal roads. “That’s why people like me, have taken it to heart to also support Mr President and the honourable minister to ensure that this road comes to life.” https://www.vanguardngr.com/2024/04/fg-begins-demolition-of-landmark-beach-for-coastal-highway-project/ Mynd44 nlfpmod 11 Likes 1 Share

Wow!!! Chief Executive Officer, Mami Chula Beach, Mr Bolaji Ariyo, from kilometre zero to kilometre 4, his properties were affected and demolished yet he fully supports the project. His story never made the headlines despite the huge loss he faced in the demolition exercise. It's really humbling and it's an encouragement to those affected not to lose hope. They did it for the good of the nation and majority of Nigerians including themselves and their families. Govt will equally compensate them even though it will never be enough. Look at that!, a 4km stretch of properties yet he never went on CNN to blackmail the government of his country neither cry of victimization. He acknowledged the project for the greater good of the country. God bless Mr Bolaji Ariyo. 19 Likes 4 Shares |

Those people think they can blackmail and bully everyone into submission. You'd think they are the only ones affected by how they'll quickly turn everything to tribalism. You consciously encroached into right of way, and when you are told to do the needful, you went to the press with lies. Like I said, most people affected by these demolition are from the south west, yet you won't find anyone from south west protesting. Their idea of one Nigeria is to be allowed to be getting away with any disregard of constituted rules in other regions while preserving theirs. Abia and Anambra states are carrying out massive demolition of structures in right of way without a single outcry. PressMyButton: 9 Likes 2 Shares |

And I know you also think Peter Obi won the last presidential election due to the noise constituted by those nuisance online? They are inconsequential in grand scheme of things, just that they think they can bully everyone into submission by displaying an expired victim's card. kokoA: 5 Likes 2 Shares |

mobisonkk2: The highest form of deception is self deception! We all know what went down...............The project promoter is Tinubu's federal government, the contractor is Tinubu's and chagouri's Hitech.............the owners of Eko Atlantic ( located inches from landmark) are still the same Tinubu and chagouri................landmark should count his losses and come back to Alaigbo and invest and have rest of mind abeg! We will see how far soonest! They have succeeded in getting rid of a major competitor! 1 Like |

Wow, see relaxation seats while demolition is going on. Tbh, the number of days given to them is short. I don't know why governments in Nigeria are always in a hurry to demolish, property owners should be given at least six months. 2 Likes |

This thread only has one purpose To embark on a serial round of tribal chest beating by members of the same tribe as Mr Bolaji One even said his investment is much bigger than that of Landmark resort (that generates millions of dollars in tax revenue for Lagos State) as if he is the tax accountant for both businesses Meanwhile these rather unsophisticated charlatans conveniently forget that in the original comments by Landmark resort ceo, he acknowledged the importance of the highway to Nigeria’s development, but also highlighted his investments and then finally expressed hope that a compromise should be reached. It was done as gentlemanly as could be possible especially considering the condescending tone of the letter from Lagos state. Mr Bolaji would be adequately compensated. Nowhere did it say he patriotically donated land to FG for free. Plus his tribesman at the helm of affairs will reward him in one way or the way. Afterall this is Yoruba lokan . When that reward happens , these foot soldiers here will not know about it. So please y’all should do us a favour and shove your sanctimony up where the sun don’t shine. Fake humility is worse that actual pride. 5 Likes

The clown above says Landmark generates "millions of dollars in tax revenue" for LASG, Lol. They say Landmark is paying tax in dollars and paying it in millions, Lol. Abeg, sometimes, you just allow them lie to themselves, it has a way of making them feel good, gives them consolation and reduces the pains in their souls. 7 Likes 2 Shares |
