Re: Poor Power Supply: Governors Hire Consultants To Break Discos Monopoly by yemmit90: 5:20am On Apr 29 |
Alkason: Amendment Bill is different to presidential assent, Buhari only signed amendment acts bill that was later deliberated on by national assembly, it was Tinubu that signed it to Law. It can never happened withiout president sign it into law. Stop argue ignorantly on Internet and educate yourself with at least Google. |

cashshwo: Can you hateful souls ever learn to shut up or, if you must speak, say the truth to shame the devil? Who got us in this mess other than your weak and unprincipled Messiah Goodwick Jonathan who sold our distribution companies to his corrupt and hideously incompetent cronies who had neither the finance or expertise to manage DISCOS competently and productively? Just because the problems are being discussed today, in the search for solution, does not mean we should lose sight of those directly responsible for the mess. What is shown below is a direct indictment against GEj so you haters, even if you can never support them, should keep quiet and let far better leaders work to deliver solution for the problems your demi gods caused. The government also ordered the sale of DisCos that had been taken over by banks and the Assets Management Corporation. |

Tonytonex:which money?? Do you know how much they pay market operators? They pay 100% every month before they could be given another megawatts for the new month! It is in billions and they are not allowed to owe and they still don't meet up |
Re: Poor Power Supply: Governors Hire Consultants To Break Discos Monopoly by Alkason: 10:21am On Apr 29 |
yemmit90: Go and sit down properly. Someone who isn't in the power industry is lecturing me. There is a new electricity act 2023 that was enacted and signed into law by Buhari before leaving office. The act removed electricity from exclusive list to concurrent list. |

athaboi:Do you know how much me alone pays for power monthly? Multiply that by millions of Nigerians. Some people are siphoning the money. |

Re: Poor Power Supply: Governors Hire Consultants To Break Discos Monopoly by 111GlassCup: 5:00am On May 03 |
athaboi: Electric waves and Societal growth and twins. When a town is not progressing, bring in electricity, in a month, there will b changes. These are scientific secrets that aren't exposed persay. So to that end, it's best to agree the providers of electricity are responsible for their poverty |
Re: Poor Power Supply: Governors Hire Consultants To Break Discos Monopoly by athaboi(f): 8:08am On May 03 |
111GlassCup:that there's no supply is not the fault of the DISCOs 100%..it is an obvious fact that generation dropped since this year and transmission lines has low capacity and has been collapsing! This two major factors are totally out of Disco league |

Dennisochampa:The difference between countries like the United Kingdom and Nigeria is that the British, unlike Nigerians, are actually willing to pay realistic prices for the power they are supplied, enough for power companies to cover the cost of paying their employees, to spend billions of USD on new power infrastructure, and to buy fuel at international market prices. When the Russia-Ukraine war started in 2022, international gas prices shot through the roof, and British consumers were almost immediately directly hit with the full impact. In Nigeria the government would have been laggardly in raising price caps, and even then it would have failed to raise prices sufficiently for the GENCOs and DISCOs to cover their operating costs (let alone to pay interest on their loans, talk less of making new infrastructural investments). The end result of this Nigerian "cheap power is our birthright" attitude is why so many of the DISCOs have gone broke, while the GENCOs are owed over $1.1 billion. https://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/top-news/673239-electricity-nigerian-govt-offsets-120-million-debt-to-gas-companies.html Is it any surprise that nobody wants to invest in a sector where price controls guarantee they will lose tons of money? Giving individual states the freedom to get into the power business will do nothing to change the situation unless they are also given a free hand to set prices as they choose, and no Nigerian government has ever shown it has the courage to allow that. As such, Nigerians can continue to "enjoy" the cheap power they feel entitled to, even if that never amounts to more than a few measly hours of electricity per day. 3 Likes 1 Share |
