President Obasanjo's third term bid. How possible? by Allenpowered(m): 12:33pm On May 03, 2005 |
A lot of hype has been on now on Obasanjo's bid for a third term.Thought he president has denied this, the rumour miss is awash with such indications. And in Nigeria, neglecting what comes from the grapevine is at your own peril. A lot of newspapers are reporting on the purpoted move by obj's cronies for his self succession. The links are below. I find this disheartening, for anyone to even think up such mundane and undemocratic idea. These links tell better stories: http://www.vanguardngr.com/articles/2002/politics/april05/29042005/p129042005.html http://www.sunnewsonline.com/webpages/politics/2005/apr/14/politics-14-04-2005-001.htm |

"PRESIDENT Olusegun Obasanjo has said emphatically that he would vacate office in May, 2007, and retire to his Ota Farm, Ogun State, even as he owned up to co-authoring the controversial draft constitution." Allafrica - I won't run again for presidency, says Obasanjo What else do you want to hear? |

Those promoting the campaigns for OBJ to come back for the third term or extend his tenure beyond 2007 are Obasanjo's own enemies and the enemies of this country, Nigeria. I think what they are doing is testing the water; to see how the people will take the idea of OBJ's staying beyond 2007, and also to see if they can lure the President himself into accepting such ignoble idea. These people are political sycophants and never-do-wells who think only of feathering their own nests instead of promoting what will move this great country forward. |

OBJ is not contesting for the next election, those who want him to come back are crooks hiding in the name of political appointments. |

Once again:
[li]"I have a constitution which brought me in and which will take me out. That constitution allows two terms of four years each. I have finished one term and the second term is going to half. And if I am talking to you from my farm now, you should know the process of withdrawal is about to begin."[/li]
Again, Obasanjo Denies Third-Term Ambition (username nairaland, password nairaland) 2 Likes |

Justiceleague1 loves his wife and children and is an exemplary husband and manager: Just looking at how far we have come from the days when third term was a possibility. APC daren't even try it for Buhari back then, lol. Nor for the agbado master now. |

Those were the days when OBJ and Atiku were at each other's throats...now, Atiku has just lost another election, and OBJ is still there, looking over things. Ah well, vanity of vanites. |
