TheGoodJoe: KDB is no where near Zidane & certainly not among the greats. He is a good player no doubt but he doesn’t posses the natural ability to even be compared to someone like Zidane. KDB’s ball retention is horrendou s that’s why he tends to cross most times he gets the ball, he isn’t a player that can play with his back facing the goal.Pep also talked about this many times, more reasons why he pushed him further up to pair with Haaland so that his poor ball retention won’t get exposed in the middle. I seriously don’t understand how this Zidane comparison came up because they don’t even play same position. KDB is closer to false9 position than he is to the midfield. He can’t play proper midfield because he would lose the ball due to his poor ball retention. It’s a common knowledge that a player who is closer to the goal will have more opportunities to score & assist. Even at that, he doesn’t have the big game masterclasses Zidane had in WC, euro, CL.. Zidane has more KO’s G/A in these playing much deeper than KdB Besides, even with KDB’s G/A .. he has ghosted in every possible big games with city & Belgium. It has also being proven that city can actually win without him. Mancity won KDB’s biggest ever trophy/match (UCL) without him. They also won at least 2 league trophies with KDB injured most part of the season. So what exactly does he do other than spamming multiple crosses when he is tensed? Zidane has literally done it in WC, euro, CL, leagues .. with big goals and assist in QF,Semis & Final , he also won best player of the tournament in WC, euro and CL. Was also best player of the season in 3 different leagues. It’s disrespectful & blasphemy to compare a mere mortal like KDB to him. I am not even convinced KDB is better than Gerrard, Lampard or even Nedved. If it’s about stats alone even Muller has more than him & no one calls muller a great like Zizou 6 Likes 1 Share

Timixion: Ironically, I think this might work the other way, the reason why Kevin De Bruyne is insanely productive is because of the astonishing magnitude he is offensive with the ball. Imagine him missing almost half of thos season and still having the highest assists. The point is not about who is better. That can be judged on different scales. It is about preference and I prefer effectiveness to keeping the ball and dazzling with it. When it comes to effectiveness, Kevin De Bruyne rules Zidane hands down. That is a fact. Finito. |

TheGoodJoe: He isn’t insanely productive when you compare him to players that played same role as him. He is more of a 2nd striker /false 9 than a midfielder. I wonder why some of you keep sneaking him into conversation he doesn’t belong He is playing in the same position as Muller, Baggio, Di Stefano , Zico , Platini etc . When you compare KDB’s stats to these guys … he is the lowest of bunch. His comparison to Zidane is so funny because Zidane was midfielder who dictated play, control tempo and connect defense with attack. Something KDB is extremely poor at. Most times KDB just wait at the final 3rd or drift to the RW to cross… how is that a midfielder ?😂. Even Pep knows he is poor on the ball, always begging him not to lose the ball.. Midfielder una ! Another question is , what has his statspadding done to help Belgium or Mancity? He ghosted in the Euros, Worldcup & even nations league. He still ghosted in CL final which his team won without him. So how can you prove KDB’s impact on the team? Can his team do without him? Obviously yes! Zidane has more G/A’s in these big games than KDB because of his excellent ball handling & leadership mentality. His job wasn’t even to score but he still did it when it mattered most. 1 Like

Timixion: Come on. KDB is a big part of our success. Guardiola is talking of him still improving. KDB only has Ryan Giggs ahead of him in assists in the history of the EPL. Giggs has more games and playing more of a forward. KDB is mostly listed as a midfielder and it is his interpretation of the game that makes him unique. Leave Manchester City out of the talk because he will be remembered as one of the Greatest to grace the game and grace the EPL. As for Belgium, it is like saying Luis Figo is not amongst the greats because he won nothing with Portugal. Football is a career and not a big game thing. Career wise KDB ghosts him. Finito. |

TheGoodJoe: KDB is a big part of City’s success? Lmao . Man wasn’t even present when City won its biggest ever trophy(UCL). Rodri carried him. City also won the league in 2019 without KDB..He missed more than half of the campaign. In 2022, still the same case. How important has he been in that team? Rodri, Gundogan have been way more important that him. KDB is only listed as a midfielder on formation but in reality he doesn’t play midfield, E.G attached shows his average position in the last game… Further up, even ahead of Haaland. Most of KDB’s assists is from excessive crossing(attached). Typical RW/SS style of play The level at which Figo operated was different, he was a ballondor winner & a fifa best winner. KDB has never been the best in the world at any point, he has only been on the BallonDor/Fifa best podium(top3) once in his entire career. His first time ever on the podium was at age 31 which he lost to Benzema. So using Figo as an example makes no sense. Mind you ,Zidane was on fifa best podium for 6 seasons. He won the award 3x & won Ballondor too. How dare you compare that cross spa mmer to the great Zizou ? And you said Football is a career thing & not a big game thing. It’s obvious you have zero knowledge about Zidane’s career.. Zidane is the only player in history to win the best player of the tournament in worldcup, Euro & UCL plus also winning the player of the season in Ligue1, Laliga & SerieA. He also won MOTM WC final & CL final with massive goals So he litterally did it in 3 biggest tournaments & 3 top leagues…Zidane has the career and the big game. What does KDB have? Ghosted in Worldcup, Ghosted in Euro, Ghosted in CL final, Ghosted in nations league. Euro 2024 is on the way, he will ghost too & blame it on old age like he did in the last worldcup : 4 Likes

TheGoodJoe:as good as kdb, he is not close to Zidane. A whole zizou hmm. Who cares, for the fact he didn't win anything with his country or even world best puts him way below the rank. Louis Figo that you are talking about won ballon d'or if my memory serves me right. There was a time Belgian team had one of the best squads player for player (think during hazard's prime), baba still messed up. Good Joe drop this argument. 3 Likes |
