My question is why should the army get involved in a civil affairs? Why are this people behaving as if we are in a military regime?

Nigeria is a lawless country and this is my final answer.

The way I see it if an invasion happens right now, Nigerians themselves will spitefully sell out our own army due to the general hatred against them which is a serious matter. There needs to be a massive reorientation of the military. Civilians are not your punching bags to flex with angry

Your mind dey there 💯. Spot on, better point.

Now Banex let's not talk about the North and South East. It's become a pattern. There needs to be a massive reorientation of the military. Civilians are not your punching bags to flex with angry
They have been like this since 1960.

The very first thing that struck me when I visited that Banex plaza with a friend was how much it reeked of lawlessness. undecided

They management of that place should do better...!

However, this doesn't mean soldiers should descend on innocent people or open fire on unarmed civilians just because of the transgressions of a few.

I thought there were strict rules of engagement in such matters all over the world.

THE BRUSHING REALLY PAIN THIS ARMY PEOPLE OOOOO

I THINK WHAT REALLY PAINS THEM IS THE REALIZATION THAT NIGERIANS NO DEY FEAR THEM LIKE BEFORE AGAIN

AND WHO CAUSED THE LOSS OF RESPECT?...IS IT NOT THE ARMY THANKS TO THEIR CORRUPT WAYS AND DEEDS THAT PEOPLE ALWAYS TALK ABOUT?

IF PEOPLE ARE NOT ACCUSSING THEM OF OIL BUCKERY... IT'S SMUGGLING

BACK IN THE DAY A SOLDIER WEARING THE ARMY UNIFORM HAD SO MUCH DIGNITY AND RESPECT AND VERY DISCIPLINED

EVEN WHEN THEY WERE POSTED TO ROADBLOCKS...GOD HELP YOU SEY YOU OFFER DEM BRIBE BUT TODAY THEY ARE THE CHAMPIONS OF BRIBE TAKING

I REMEMBER HOW AS KIDS GROWING UP IN THE EARLY 80'S HOW I AND MY FRIENDS ALWAYS DREAMT OF JOINING THE ARMY BECAUSE THEY HAD SO MUCH DIGNITY AND DISCIPLINE

BACK IN THE DAY WHEN YOU SEE A SOLDIER OUTSIDE ON OFFICIAL DUTY...THEY ARE SMARTLY DRESSED IN FULL UNIFORM BUT TODAY YOU SEE THEM WEAR T-SHIRT OVER THEIR CAMO PANTS THEN WEAR SLIPPERS

how much is Nairaland paid for this poorly scripted damage control?

So traders are now hoodlums?

Which average Nigerian citizen attacks uninformed personnel with fisticuffs?

Nigeria army has a marked history of beating up sellers and traders over any issue of business they don't like

Nigeria army is not a law enforcement agency and should lay complaints of this nature to the police instead of taking laws into their hands .

Closing that plaza is illegal and the army can't be drafted over a matter that's within police jurisdiction.

Nigeria army has lost focus and is now purposeless, petty and trying desperately to replace the Nigeria police force.

Everlasting shame on the army

The Nigerian army can't be believed.

No mob, I repeat no mob will beat a soldier without a reason. The army must have done something that trigger the traders.

Everything dailymail said about Nigeria is true,

Nigeria is a banana republic, barbaric place where rule of law doesn't exist. Wild wild west where everyone with a little power think dey can do as they like. Why not allow police to do investigation and fish out those thugs.

Oyinbo say Nigeria is a useless country and we are proving them right.

With this useless people in the army I have the feeling that junior officers are going to take over government in Nigeria very soon.
Shut up! This is not the 60s,70s or 90s. If the Army ever try to rule this country it will break into pieces. Alot of Rich Civilians are currently more powerful than the Army. Some Nigerians can raise an Army more powerful then Nigeria Army currently

I can now understand why some people are taking this matter personal, if they have enfottery to beat solders why are they calling people in government to address the issue they should've used the audacity to open the complex since their equating themselves with solders or they should have brought IPOB to come and chase soldiers away from their complex, nonsense developers miscreants

It was a very unfortunate and unnecessary incident. Why beat the soldiers like that when they weren't trying to be violent themselves? No life was at risk, so why?.......Those banex touts need to be taught a lesson to serve as a deterrent to others who may want to try this again.

We should respect our men in uniform. Report through the right channels if they are found wanting.

Where are the cowards now when Banex is locked up? Why can't they show up to enforce their rights?

The Army should go and sit down joor. How many times have Nigerian soldiers brutalized innocent Nigerian civilians and nothing was done about it. In very many cases soldiers have acted with impunity, intimidating and harassing civilians at every turn and event. It served them right.

There are too many hoodlums in and around Banex plaza. They have to be rooted out. That's how Boko haram waa able to plant a bomb in nearby Emab years ago. Too many people roaming around with nothing to do around there.
