Unfortunately this doesn't matter to the lives of the people living in the state...
If state controls their resources, and pays tax to the federal government, then I guess we will have new list of this kind....

We still topped the chart with Lagos.
Lagos is a natural blessing to the SW just like oil and gas is to the Niger Delta.
Next year's gdp will have SW states taking the first five slots.

Ogun state is going down economically. Foreign investors are flying away from the state like birds from a distressed tree.

The best investment is local, like Anambra dem.

Here we are. The figures are speaking for themselves. So Ogun GDP is no more than the SE combined as alleged? GDP is the real assessment index of economic development of a state or nation and not the IGR the taxman of Lagos is inflicting on the nation. Even the current Lagos own @ present is based on the fact that it is a fallout of it being a former capital territory of Nigeria.

The Eastern economic axis of Anambra, Delta, Imo and Rivers is the real economic backbone of the country. Lagos is enjoying artificial monopoly.

I foresee Lagos GDP just like Ogun state recording a decrease owing to the increasing hostile business and political atmosphere and also terrible FG policies that are chasing foreign investors away. However, I see that of Abia, Delta, Imo and Anambra increasing owing to increasing volume of investment and gas/oil activities.

Most of you don't understand how economy works, Imo is doing well in service sector and also major oil and gas state, service sector contribute more to GDP than industrial sector, Anambra is doing very well in service sector, Agriculture and industrial sector especially indigenous industries, just like Ondo, it's oil gave Ondo edge over Ogun.

Farming and mining maybe. The same Kano where they destroy bear bottles and has seen industries collapse. There is no service sector like hospitality in the core North. Hospitality and tourism boosted Imo GDP.

Hmm, so my state Akwa ibom has all this, but doesn't reflect in the lives of Akwa ibomites.
Governors in Akwa ibom only build roads, stadiums and worship centers.
Human capital development is zero, unemployment is very high.
