Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by Mankind2024: 5:39pm On May 27 |
Mankind2024: Back to the falling knife phenomenon. IB is likely to test sub N3.50 or less, by December 2024. if there is no turnaround after the current RI, then, potentially heading for DELISTMENT by 2028 or thereafter. The current RI is the 2nd in less than 5 years. The RI of 2019 Nov/December was a fantastic failure. International Breweries raised N164.39 billion through a rights issue of 18.266 billion ordinary shares of 50 kobo each at N9 per share. The said rights issue was pre-allotted on the basis of 17 new ordinary shares of 50 kobo each for every eight ordinary shares of 50 kobo each held as at the close of business on November 6, 2019. The Management claimed it was fully subscribed. To me, I'm of the opinion that some selfish people are in to acquire this Breweries at a give away price of Sub N1. A hidden agenda cannot be ruled out, anything is possible in Naija. NB still falling, may likely stop falling and breach the N30 by year ending, may recover fully from the phenomenon, earlier than predicted. Champion B may likely test sub N2 by year ending, potential delistment vs buy out. New owner vs conflicting state interest. Guiness is difficult to call, might delist if there is no turnaround, the management of the company is still in denial. It was rumoured in mid 2023 that the company was planning to exit the Nigerian Market. Time will surely tell if there is any incubating exit plan on their agenda. The falling 🔪 knives of the Breweries will surely present an opportunity for the most patient investors, maybe from 2030, if there is a turnaround, otherwise the Breweries would suffer the fate of what befell the construction industries in the 90s.

Mfunkynation: Yes, you can if there are sellers. Last time I checked on the OTC there were bids at 0.34 but no sellers. Pretty sure there are investors who won't be taking up their rights but who won't bother selling either. This is either because there's not much money to be made from selling them or because they don't know how to go about it. Please note that you are buying the RIGHT to acquire the shares of the company. You'd still need to pay for those shares at the price indicated on their prospectus. 1 Like |

If true, it might be a cunning way to delist (without going through the court ordered meeting shenanigans) but it's a very bad precedent for other Nigerian firms... sky2891: |
