We all want Nigeria and the judiciary system to work, this is one of the ways it work.
Sentiments aside, if the government and every citizen is to be held accountable without favour, pity the most of us will find ourselves in uncomfortable positions because our actions sometimes go against the law.
We drive without seat belt and license
We drive one way
We liter the environment
We spray naira in parties (bobrisky)
So many things

Yes, NAFDAC did and her claims were false so let her come forth with a prove

Her proof is a matter of opinion. In her own view it's too sugary. Nothing wrong in her expressing her opinion. However, I personally think she took it too far with the part that says "it's killing people".

Anyway, I think there's more to this case that meet the eyes. It's sad enough that she's had miscarriage. May God heal her pain.

If she wins this case, mhennnn, Umeofia may be sued for damages that could take him out of businesses.

Also, the "over my dead body" comment from Eric is too deep. I pray he hasn't speak/ill-wish himself to past. The man is too loud mouthed for my liking. Ordinarily, he should have just allowed the company's media or customer relations to handle the issue.

Even if she lied with malice I don't see how this is a criminal case.

Nigeria Judiciary keeps sinking by the hour. If it was a magistrate court I won't talk much, but how a full federal court takes up this non case and won't dismiss it instantly surprises me.

It could be a criminal case if it's found that there are syndicates behind her actions.

At the moment, the "syndicate point" is still an allegation. There could be people (esp. importers of tomato paste) behind all her actions, including the post and the media interviews.

The fact that she declined to apologize and take back her fake review on the instructions of some netizens, she should face the consequences.
Even when she was informed that any tomato paste with the inscription "tomato mix" is a mixture of so many consumables including sugar, she turned a blind eyes.

This nonsense has got to stop. U make just 1 statement online to someone or about something and they term it cyber stalking?

Stalking is a persistent action of following, trolling and likely offending someone for a reason or no reason.

NAFDAC & SON did but they was a particular time she was told to apologise which she agreed but later she rejected probably she was given some weighty conditions that made her have a rethink but this is a really trying time for her mostly & her family. Erisco self don para patapata 🥺

There was no weighty conditions. She was asked to delete the comments and tender apology through same Facebook and her lawyer deceived her that she has a case of fundamental rights abuse and she reneged from the agreement that's what led the Erisco owner to approach court.

So if I say nairaland is a useless cesspit of vipers and demons, Seun should sue me and send me to jail ba?

This is simply a case of the powerful oppressing the rest of us.

If Buhari's son made the same statement would he be in court now?
If they charge him to court, he'll very likely win on the merits of the case. Same applies to this lady; it's very likely she'll win the case if the case were treated fairly.

And even if she were to lose the case, how exactly has she deserved to lose her freedom?
Calculate how much damage she's done and have her pay for the damages.

This should even be a civil case not a criminal case so I don't know how far up his butt the judge's head had to be to reach this conclusion. O wait, corruption. That makes sense.

I shaa pity us ordinary Nigerians for not having enough sense to see how this is a problem for us. We're there talking about how pained he was. I bet if it's revealed that his company does so and so damage to the environment we'll just look away like nothing happened.

He'll rather die than watch his 40yr reputation get damaged. Newsflah slowpoke: this is your reputation now. Where are the hardcore feminists to meme this as a clear case of male toxicity.

Please stop defending rubbish. Please.

If you say "nairaland is a useless cesspit of vipers and demons"
......that's a soft allegation which you could be true.

But if you then add... "those vipers and demons post messages that makes people commit sweetcide"
.......It becomes a strong allegation which Nairaland can sue you for to defend.

Chioma made her point, but the part she added "it's killing people" was where she got it wrong.

You can make reviews which can be good or bad, but don't make false/defamatory reviews. There's a fine-line difference between a bad review and a defamatory review.

Chioma's review turned from bad review (...it's too sugary) to defamatory review (...it's killing people).

Now, na she suppose involve the police or her lawyer to prove her case to show she is saying the truth but I guess she didn't...there's a way law works, if I accuse you and take you to court,I'll bring evidence now it's left to you to defend the yourself by countering what I brought, no be court go help you defend yourself or help you with evidence, you wey do review suppose get evidence to back up your claims....

Where is the NAFDAC review of the product?

The ones I have seen confirm that there is sugar within the product albeit within the amount supported by the agency. There is no confirmation of exactly how much sugar.

Make of that knowledge what you will. However for those of you concerned about sugar intake - you know what to do. Also be checking other similar products. NAFDAC endorses addition of certain amount of sugar to tomato paste.

That's exactly what she's sued for. i.e to come forward and defend her review.

It's not so simple the way you deposit it up there. You have to now show the nexus with that particular product with empirical evidence, i.e any known case of death as a result of consuming that product.

Does everybody that takes sugar have diabetes? No

Was Sugar content stated on the tomato mix can? Yes

Did Chioma read the content before buying or even before reviewing? I doubt!

Was Chioma intended to buy "tomato paste or tomato mix" ?

.......So you can see the fact that Chioma doesn't need Sugar or indeed too much sugar doesn't mean everybody doesn't need it.

Do you know the sugar content in most of the fizzy/carbonated drinks is almost half of the bottle itself?

This should be the principal argument of her lawyer. Manufacturers in Nigeria get away with a lot of scheise to the eventual detriment of the common man.
