So this matter is still raging? This is gross injustice. This Erisco of a man will not escape it.

Good morning, having data doesn't give anyone the privilege to destroy another person. Apologize, she refused and now see where she is. If she was right, why would her 2 accomplice be at large?

Most comments here in Nairaland deserve this treatment; we must verify our opinion before coming to the public, thank you.

I tried reading Chioma comments, it wasn't a crime, she used and the product and gave her opinion, it's basic reaction! I don't know how going after her correct anything cos presently I can't even bring myself to buy that product after reading she lost her baby cos my wife had passed through such.

As for me, I don't think this is right in any way
Abuse of judiciary. Rich and powerful people using the courts (corrupt judges for that matter) to oppress ordinary masses. This should have been at worst a civil offence. When someone publishes false statement about a person or product, that is termed libel and its a civil offence. How it escalated into a criminal offence whereby someone was held in prison without bail for over 6 months is gross abuse of the judicial system. It can only happen in Nigeria.

It's either nairaland is filled with kids or the mentality here is awkward. Like wtf with the reasoning, false, fake review conversation, people here don't know the difference and using them to justify oppressions.

Nigeria deserve her leaders, there's oppressive spirit in all Nigerians, some even promise to kill the lady, " she should die in jail", bla bla bla.

In this kind of mess, there is always no Victor or Vanquished, Erisco has changed name, trying to rebrand and he's most likely not going to be flying g to most countries ever, Chioma has lost her pregnancy, she's in a difficult place right name, the police have tainted her already down trodden reputation even in global space. Global watchers of justice will downgrade the Nigerian Judicial system more. Nobody wins here! But Erisco and Chioma looses and then we as a people loose too, our reputation is smeared globally.

Why should she apologise when if that is her honest opinion? According to the constitution there is freedom of belief and opinion. People insult governors and even the president all the time, does that warrant arrest and being locked up for months? Unless Erisco can prove that she had malicious intent , it would be impossible to prove a crime. Remember the threshold for a crime is extremely high, you have to prove premeditation and intent beyond all reasonable doubt.

Why would the other 2 not run? Remember this is Nigeria where the rich and powerful control the justice system. They know they would be locked up indefinitely without trial.

No one says its pleasant. But should the reaction be jail for that person in a society where there is supposed to be freedom of speech, thought and conscience?

Mind you, there is the option of suing that person for damages.

You lie! What is a fake review? If I buy a samasung phone and write a review saying this phone is of low quality, I don't recommend it, is it fake?

The story about a man going to jail for fake reviews is not as you paint it. The man sold his service to businesses to help them post reviews as though it was by a real person that visited the business. That is a crime to mislead the public.

Most of the foods you consume in Nigeria are not actually fit for consumption. I also don't trust NAFDAC anymore. I would appreciate if you could share the link to the nafdac review. Most of the tomato paste sold in Nigeria has been stripped of its nutrient and what you have is coloring and lots of sugar. I would rely on an independent organization evaluating this tomato company's product than nafdac

Don't mind them. They are yet to to recover from Stockholm Syndrome left over from slavery and colonialisation, whereby you rever and worship your oppressors, the only difference being the slave masters and colonial administrators have been replaced by the political and powerful elites in their minds.

Shut up. Stop supporting intimidation. She bought a product and wasn’t satisfied. What’s wrong with the making a review either bad or good that’s what grows a business. Every business does welcome customers reviews since that’s a means to know get users feedback and make adjustments to progress further. How old is Erisco compared to Nestle and Unilever that he thinks his products are prefect. Make Una Dey calm down when supporting nonsense Knowing that you’ll own a business tomorrow but if you’re shallow minded, remember you’ll buy products or even download an app you’ll be dissatisfied in the future.
You are the one that needs to shut up. You are not making sense. It is either you are biased, ignorant or uninformed. What she did was not a review. It was demarketing and false claim. She needs to prove that the product is killing people. There is no sentiment in law. Even at that, she was offered a way out by a retraction and an apology. She refused. She is obviously reaping what she sowed

Even if its a false review, does that elevate the issue to a criminal offence, whereby someone is locked up for more than 6 months without trial?

How many reviews from people that claimed cause cancer or explode and kills people? Just Google the term "Samsung factory cause cancer", you will see tones of claimed just because one factory worker died of cancer. It hebooves on the responsible inspection agency to investigate the claims. No one went to Jail for these claims.

CASE CLOSED!
you sound too shallow and unlearned. If you have diabetes and buy a product that is not good for your health, whose fault? The product's active ingredients were clearly written on the tin. There are many tomato mix out there in the market. If a particular one is not good for you, leave it and buy the one that is.

Writing.."this tomato paste tastes too sugary, I think it contains sugar" is an honest opinion.
But saying "this tomato paste tastes sugary and has been killing people" is a different thing entirely..

Wait till one of ur neighbor openly accuses u of raping a child across the street, then maybe ur idea of "honest opinion" will change. In this life, there are somethings I won't take lying low, especially when it comes to my integrity.
Just like that useless blogger that accused Emoney of sleeping with Junior Pope's wife and complicity in his death.
Even you that sees nothing wrong in her actions will no tow her line.

No justice for the poor in Naigeria. I wonder what the tomato company will gain from this waste of time and money, they shoulda just donated the money they are wasting to pay their lawyers to charity and give poor people free tomatoes and their image will be promoted even more. They are disgracing their company by taking her to court

Are they seeking to sent her to jail or compensation? She doesn't look like someone with millions in the bank. What are they trying to prove, gain or hide? By chasing this nothing case? The woman is even using a human right lawyer, clearly she has no money.

This a David and Goliath fight.

Don't mind the Erisco man, and I use to admire the man for his entrepreneurial and Nigerian spirit. He us letting his overblown ego get the better of him. What does he exactly hope to gain by jailing the woman? Will jailing the woman be a good advertisement for the tomato product he claims he is trying to protect? Will jailing the woman increase confidence and thus sales of this tomato products? How much exactly is he ready to lose in order to prove the point that he is very powerful and should never be messed with?
