Airtel Unlimited Internet Subscription | How to Setup Streaming Media Services by EduTechTainMent: 2:19pm On May 28
This thread is created to serve as a dedicated platform for any and all discussions about Airtel unlimited Internet subscription. We can share our user experiences and other details here so prospective customers would know what to expect before diving in to make financial commitments in purchasing one for themselves.

In addition, we will be sharing individual user experiences on the best way to maximise the use of these unlimited data using various streaming media services.

Check the linked post at the end of this post.

Airtel has re-introduced the highly popular unlimited 20 Internet subscription option for her teaming subscribers.

This subscription plan provides subscribers with unlimited 20Mbps Internet for a month, at a cost of 20, 000 naira only.

You would recall that recently Airtel removed the unlimited 20 Internet subscription option from her offerings.

However, following public outcry and popular demand, the company has deemed it fit to review and re-introduce this subscription plan.

The unlimited 20 Internet subscription plan is one of the most popular Internet subscription plans for Nigerians, offering the much needed respite particularly for those who feel they can't afford or don't wish to spend hugely on the rather cost-prohibitive hardware of Starlinks. With the airtel unlimited Internet subscription, customers get to enjoy the advantage of having a truly unlimited Internet experience while also saving up on the initial cost of the hardware.

This is perfect for those who wish to stream videos and make use of Internet from the comfort of their homes especially now that DSTv is becoming unaffordable for most homes in Nigeria.

I use the unlimited 20 for my entire home connecting two 42" LED TV sets connected separately to an android TV box and an Amazon firestick for seamless streaming for myself and the kids. It is indeed seamless as I don't experience any buffering. It's also connected to all our smartphones and the kids gadgets they continuously use to stream.

Additionally, it's connected to two other 42" LED TV sets. Each of these two TVs is setup with 2 different desktop computer CPUs. I use one as my workstation and the 2nd for the kids to learn and practice use of computers.

I connected the ODU device to a 40AH LiFePO4 battery hooked up to a 500w MSW inverter and so I am assured of Internet access even when there is power outage. The experience has been nothing short of wonderful. The rest of mind that comes with knowing you are not restricted to a data cap is better experienced than explained smiley.

For those who are just hearing about this offer for the first time, here is a summary of all it takes to get setup.

1. Purchase an Airtel 5G router or an Airtel Outdoor Unit (ODU). I got my ODU hardware for about 50k. It comes with a Nokia branded hardware and a router with adapter.

2. Opt for the unlimited subscription plan. However note that purchase of the above hardware gives you 1 month bundled free access to the unlimited Internet subscription plan. You only need to pay for renewal after the first month.

3. Nothing else is required. Enjoy surfing the Internet with the joy and peace that comes with a truly unlimited Internet experience.

Summary: I personally didn't subscribe to use a debrid link for my Torrentio and it works well. If you can spare the extra cash, please don't hesitate to subscribe for premium debrid account for the very best user experience with Torrentio.

Nice one @op

Some of us are actually interested in other information you posted.
Kindly show us a pic of your 40ah Lifepo4 battery and where you obtained it with the price.
Coz one can't run this unlimited data with a limited power supply

I have had it for over 10 years. It's the popular blue LiFePO4 INEC battery sold years ago.

Have 2 of the batteries I still make use of as separate stand alone power backup options. I charge both of them with a single 180W Africell panel. Use a 30A Suoer solar charge controller with it. Both batteries are connected to thesame panel.

Note that I am using the batteries separately as 40Ah/12v setup each connected to its own 500w suoer MSW inverter. I did a DIY by connecting digital battery volt meter to the batteries to enable me monitor it's capacity in real time.

Since I use the batteries separately, I added a 60A change over switch to enable seamless switching btw both batteries. So using the change over switch, I just switch from one battery to the other whenever I need the solar panel to charge any of the batteries.

I could hv opted to connect the batteries in parallel, to give 80Ah/12v but I decided on this setup because this affords me the opportunity to carry the 2nd battery outside the home when the need arises and I hv use for it in another location since it can conveniently power my laptop for over 15hrs.

In addition this 40ah/12v battery is connected to the kids mini desktop cpu connected to a 42" TV set used as its monitor, and of course airtel ODU that supplies my hone with unlimited Internet connectivity.

With my LiFePO4 and only the router powered up, it can work nearly the entire day before I need to top up the charge.

After I installed the panels, it's now 24hrs assured coverage. I plan on looking into the possibility of adding an extra 180w panel if need be to oversize the system.

Even if a need arises in the night to make use of all the connected systems TV and cpu, all I need to do is connect the follow come battery charger to the batteries to maintain the voltage while in use. For morning, afternoon and early part of the evenings, I am covered by the powr from the solar panels.

Note that you most likely wouldn't need to setup the solar panels to get a decent usage time and power up for the ODU with only the battery.

An alternative to getting the ODU is the airtel 5G router that comes with a separate power bank to make use of when there is power outage.

For the pricing of the LiFePO4 battery, @cooldipo sells a similar rated LiFePO4 battery nicknamed MPS2 that will serve same purpose. It's about 135k or thereabout.

Hope this answers all your questions.

I have a couple of questions for you as I have this same ODU like yours but I abandoned it after the removed the 20mbps unlimited plan.
My first actual subscription was the 40mbps for 35k but I didn’t really use it much because I also coincidentally subscribed my mtn 5G hynetflex.

1.) Did you move the out door unit outside your apartment/room?

2.) I’m seeing more than 20mbps download and upload on the screenshot of your internet speed test. But I thought you subscribed to 20mbps.

it's very useless. Don't buy that Nokia hardware, it adds no single speed. Just buy the normal Airtel Router that supports the 20mbs data simple. The Nokia shit is waste of time. I've packed mine back to my store. Waste of money.

No sir. As you might have observed from the images I shared above, the ODU is installed in the living room, and I also have the router mounted close to it. Kindly take a 2nd look at the pictures I shared above.

The ODU is originally meant for areas with poor network reception because it boosts network connectivity. I chose to install it indoors and I am getting good network reception.

Finally,in response to your question about Internet speed test, yes I did subscribe for the unlimited 20. However, I get beyond this speed cap. I can't hazard a guess as to the reason why this is so. All I know is that I get very decent network speed even with all the home devices connected and stream videos without buffering. For me, it's money well spent, and so far so good. I am satisfied with my user experience. Use of Internet Download Manager is known to boost file download speed.

When one is a new 5G subscriber and gets the new 5G router at their office

What plan does Airtel subscribe the user to ?
Paid 50k at their office and they did it for me
Is it the 20 mb/s unlimited one would be allotted to ?

I think that's the default for everyone. You can change it subsequently.

The problem could be the way you had it setup. The ODU is expected to even boost your network speed at your location. The hardware itself is from a reputable company - Nokia.

Has the unlimited been reversed to N20,000?

During my second renewal, I saw it was increased to N35,000, while N20,000 sub is capped.

Yes it has. The 20k subscription has been re-introduced.
