'I told Atiku when he was contesting and came to see me in my Ikeja office few years ago; he came with Gbenga Daniel, my former governor (of Ogun state). “I said to him, ‘Listen, it’s about time you people left the stage, why don’t you just go away. We need an infusion of fresh blood into the system’. “But, for some people, maybe they read it as bloodletting. No I said infusion of fresh blood. I said so I can not support you. I think your generation should quit. “But, he wasn’t the only one. I then sought out the current President-elect, Tinubu and I gave him exactly the same message. “I said, ‘Whatever you people are planning, I’m convinced that we need the young generation, new thinking, new sensibilities, new energies’. “So, why don’t you just leave the stage, let’s look for somebody, a really brilliant individual then use your entire influence to catapult that person to power, and this country will see a massive transformation. “We spoke for about an hour and a half, and then Bola Tinubu said, ‘No’. He said there were still things he felt he could still contribute." - Prof. Wole Soyinka 3 Likes |

izzou:Lol the truth is times and seasons are different. The antics of those days won't work now, either the government off you or you spend all your days in jail. The dynamics of activism in the 21st century is different. You see what happened during ENDSARS protest. You see what's happening to the likes of David Hundeyin, Fisayo etc. The government can just declare you a terrorist and that's it. I'm not denying what he achieved during his days. What we're simply saying is his current antics betray the true spirit of fearless activism that made him who he is. The same youths who are daring to take a stand and speak truth to the establishment like he did in his heydays are those he's labelling as fascists. He's now siding with the government and condemning the youths just because they're supporting a man he doesn't like. Maybe na till the youths carry gun like he did that's when he'll support and join them. 3 Likes |

Ellexy: Isn't that the journey of activism? Do you think the Military was soft on the past activists? Anybody that wants to insult WS because of Obi is free to do so. But leave that legend of activism where he is abeg We bought fuel for 1000 and people have died trying to survive, and no single soul led a movement to shut down the country. I no fit do am, You no fit do am, but we feel we need to call Soyinka out for not doing it, rather he is insulting Obi? Well!! 8 Likes 1 Share |

I was scavenging social media for historical recounts for a certain project so began 'touring' Nigerian and African history Facebook pages and groups. Then I stumbled on this shocking information about Emir Sanusi Lamido Sanusi. Apparently, he was one of the murderous beheading Wahabists Abacha was hounding and escaped punishment by whiskers. https://www.facebook.com/100063691807488/posts/pfbid0UL7ckrP2XxAv28yp6cAJnG5kytDLrSCrBnWVYHiodrxXVHSxXBK5U82TAhiN4nzWl/ Who would have thought our pious and liberal Emir was exactly like Osama Bin Laden 30 years ago? I had no idea. I'm still shocked. Here I was rooting for a murderous religious extremist for years. |

First Bank, a Nigerian bank with a market capitalisation of ₦829 billion has begun legal action to recover “huge sums of money” allegedly diverted by an employee at a head office team in Iganmu, Lagos. The employee, now on the run, allegedly diverted those funds to 98 bank accounts classified as first beneficiaries, including his wife’s. https://techcabal.com/2024/05/31/first-bank-employee-on-the-run-after-40bn-fraud/ If u were wondering why the Firstbank MD was sacked few weeks ago , it appears this man right here was the one that use his reggae to spoil Firstbank MD blues o Guyman moved a whopping 40 billion Naira without the management of the bank having an inkling about the massive fraud being perpetuated under their watchful eyes . Muiz Omo weyrey don do fraud collect food for MD mouth 🤦♂️ |

DissTroy: Sanusi has been a banker since the 1980s and went to Khartoum in 1991 Sanusi was in jail from June 1995 to June 1996 as a threat to National Security, after which he fled the country, not because of Gideon who died in December 1996 This is an IPOB story 4 Likes |

liveLongNprospa: No, I didn't. I've never looked at SLS beyond cursory and mostly focused on his professional background. I was even looking into him - it was into Abacha for obscure pieces of information about him. |
Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by DissTroy(m): 12:50pm On Jun 01 |
Ibime: This part is publicly stated. Then again, the piece states exact periods and chronologically. I've been sieving through the comments and nested comments on that post corroborating the OP. On the surface, it doesn't make sense. Sanusi was/is a Marxist and has portrayed liberal views so the marriage of that better-known persona of him and being a beheading extremist is shocking. But knowing how he preaches against child marriages and multiple wives only to marry four wives and a 17-year-old girl too, while reveling in the opulence he so preaches against shows he's a contradiction. I'm still digging exposés to see official documentations which corroborate it. And if so, if the mainstream media is complicit in shielding him by journalistic omission. |
Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by Theflint1(m): 12:54pm On Jun 01 |
Ibime:FFK isn't the most reliable of sources , but he also made reference to this beheading story, and Sanusi's part in it. Why was Sanusi deemed a threat to national security in 1995, and why do you think he is linked to this story? https://www.facebook.com/realFFK/posts/now-that-he-that-beheaded-gideon-akaluka-has-been-deposed-it-is-time-to-bring-hi/10158203224067210/ 4 Likes 2 Shares |
Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by Ibime(m): 12:56pm On Jun 01 |
Theflint1: FFK is actually the origin of the story and the Radio Biafrans ran with it That's all you need to know The timelines and everything are incorrect Sanusi like all Wahabists are what I would call extremists, but no different to Amoto. He who alleges murder must prove and the timelines already show the story is cock-and-bull 4 Likes |
