Of course! A fit Osimhen is a blessing to us an unfit Osimhen is a real worry for us. Nothing blessing about it my brother!

Boniface played against Lesotho and Zim when Osimhen wasn't available nothing came out of it. Now that he is out of form, I am not optimistic!
mrwilliams9:

GBAM! Osimhen’s biggest weakness right now is his injury record. If he was fit for 30-32 league games this season I’m sure he’d have been challenging Martinez for golden boot again.

I do think his absence in this round of WCQ matches might be a slight blessing in disguise as it might mean Boniface will play as a 9. It’s something I’ve wanted to see for a while and the chance is here.

that's an excellent stat from npfl
More impressive if you've watched the lad play, boy is a handful for defenders, sadly I don't see him playing in the npfl next season, as usual either he goes to a North African team or backwater European leagues

Football as we know is a results based business and Osimhen has so far in his short career been able to win team and personal accolades.

Becoming World Class takes different routes for some it's instantaneous consistent performances while for others it's a slow build up of improved performances which culminates in you becoming elite as a performer.

Osimhen didn't start out World Class but he has shown remarkable mental strength and desire to succeed that has helped him improve his somewhat limited 'technical' ability.

Osimhen is a born winner who is not shy to carry the responsibility of performing for club and country.

And the seasons you love to reference you keep giving yourself amnesia that he had limited appearances due to injury or whatever circumstances but no surprises the season he featured in many games we saw his outstanding performances.

This season that everyone wants to have a go at him for they conveniently overlook how his other teammates did like they were better performers.

As for AFCON despite his lack of goals he was one of the reasons we even got to the final because of the other aspects of his game that served the team tactically.

Harry Kane is someone I consider a world class striker but he will forever be rated lower than Osimhen if he can't use his 'world class ability' to win a significant trophy ask Alan Shearer.

And please stop insisting on how he will cope against EPL sides since we've also seen him perform well against it the likes of Chelsea and Leicester City. If Awoniyi, Dennis, Ighalo and so many other Nigerians could cope with the demands of the premier league then I see no reason to doubt an elite performer like Osimhen.

komekn:

I've been consistent in saying I don't call VO world class.

What makes you world class is being consistently on top of the goal scoring charts ( particularly as a striker) from season to season.

I think he absolutely an excellent striker but to bebwotld class he needs consistency.

Do you know staying injury free is part of that assesment for being able to be called world class.

VO has had one break out season which was last season when he won the golden boot. Prior to that his previous seasons in Seria A were very good but he was not in the top 3.

His time in France was very good but once again not top of the game. His time in Belgium was very good too.

However, he had had one world class performance and that was last season where he won the golden boot.

His performance in the AFCON was not exceptional as a striker, 2 goal 🥅 is simply not good enough for claiming to be world class.

Finally, he may if not careful be tagged injury prone with the regularity of injury he is getting and therefore a risk.

Finally, how will he cope in the much more physically taxing and faster as well as very intensive EPL ❓Will he be able to cope and be injury free.

My brother! Then later when his laughable predictions don't come true he will attempt to save face by using the tired 'he took my advice' line.

Hmmm I understand your worries. The percentage of games we've won without Osimhen doesn't exactly fill one with confidence but let's just hope other players will step up in his absence.

Relax
Victor Osimhen will deliver goals next season
Even with his injury plagued season, he still scored 15 league goals

With Conte, he wouldn't have to run so much, that means less injuries
You will see goals

Just relax
Defenders can't stop Osimhen
Only injuries can

Nobody is saying he will not score goals 🥅 .

I am sure in a match very few if any players have as many sprints as VO. When he was in France in those two seasons nobody did more sprint's than VO.

If you take away the relentless non work rate and sprinting of VO. Without prejudice you have taken away his heart 💜 and soul, there will be very little left.

The current manager of Chelsea is not Conte it seems you are not aware.

How many injury free seasond has VO had in Seria A ⁉️and if you put that into consideration he may be looked at as injury prone.

Why are the games not spaced properly
Thé last time just 2 days in between
Now the same thing
Shouldn’t it be 3 days in between

Aribo has been one of the most outstanding players for Southampton and pivotal in getting them promoted back 🔙 to the EPL.

He is an offensive player that has creativity and invention.

You just said he is yet to recover form.🤔🤔

Aribo is Nigeria's best central midfielder in the team because he's a complete technical midfielder, albeit Nigeria's main midfield problem is a technical holding midfielder whereas Aribo is only a box to box midfielder.

I mean talk about Aribo's midfield performance when he dominated the Brazilian midfield? Or when he dominated the Ecuador midfield? Or when he dominated the Egyptian midfield in the previous afcon cup? I mean these are good-top opposition teams 🤔 yet he had no problem dominating their midfields.

He's technical, agile, offensive and also solid defensively.

That being said, what Nigeria need the most right now is a technical defensively astute holding midfielder.

It's annoying but then again why should I be taking panadol for the headache of the ultimate beneficiaries? Is it was not the players, coaches and officials that would reap the same benefits of qualifying? If they like let them be unserious my life will sha go on and progress with or without World Cup qualification.

Aribo is a good player but football hasn't been kind to him, he seemed to have fallen off after his fantastic stint at Rangers fc...not sure what happened to him when he joined Southampton, but he now has a chance to prove why he was always that player we rated highly. Right now he has fallen down the pecking order as far as the depth of our midfielders...I rate the likes of Olawoyin, Fisayo Dele-Bashiru and Onyedika ahead of him. Better to stop basking in the past and hope he picks up form again next season.

Nah. A good technical player always remain a technical good player unless he becomes older when his legs can't cope with the pace of matches/sport anymore. Nothing happened to Aribo at Southampton. It was just that Southampton changed several coaches after he was signed thus, he was always in and out of the team. He was already finding himself in Southampton's starting lineup before he was called for the last afcon cup. When he returned, he worked himself into the lineup once again.

I still don't see which central midfielder in the team is currently better than Aribo. Which of them has dominated the Brazilian midfield like Aribo did? Or the Ecuador midfield? Egyptian midfield? Heck, they faltered against Cote d'Ivoire midfield. And Mali's midfield recently.

That said, Nigeria need to solve the holding midfield first because most of the midfielders in the team are box to box. A defensively astute technical holding midfielder is needed!

It has been apparently clear and obvious that Tosin has better than all our CB's for a long time even when he was in the Championship.

But we preferred to recycle outdated and low quality CB's instead of recruiting better and improved.

The NFF could have had him signed sealed and delivered 3/4 seasons ago, but we did not .

So sad how Chelsea has fallen off. No more ambitious transfer deals. These days it is from one midtable level player to another, yet they are still dreaming of playing in the Champions league again?
