I mean, just imagine the kind of nonsense on the front page here https://www.nairaland.com/8112033/dolapo-badmus-warns-school-reciting
from Dolapo Badmus, the pure arrogance, the insensitivity, schools that are probably facing a lot of 'up to the neck' tax burdens and profit decline due to the situations of the economy.

Look at the state of the national currency, I guess that one too will soon need to be replaced
billions are being spent everyday on needless trips, inflation and costs of goods are ever on the increase.

I know the igbos and 'obidient' people can be quiet annoying, I will be utterly honest here, even though there is a huge cultural decadence now enveloping the yoruba culture (No thanks to these randy musicians and whack comedians who thinks they are funny but only promoting cultural decay), the Yorubas and northerners still have a better cultural morals and more appreciated sense of respect for elders than the igbos and a lot of southerners (No hate intended). However, as vile as these Igbos (and non igbo obidients) might be, they are just so darn correct this time.

First of all APC got Nigeria into this mess. I don't think they have anything else to offer. Anything and anything at all outside APC is what the country needs. I am beginning to feel like even that unstable Sowore can never run a country aground like this.

With much respect to Mr. President, the people have lost trust in the administration, the whole 'Emilokan' slogan has made everything seem like a personal interest and a desire to just get to that summit without a concrete plan that will benefit Nigeria. My! personally, I never knew Nigeria could be worse off than it was under Buhari. Never knew it could become this bad.
The fact that these Igbos could avoid their secession agitations to fight for a just Nigeria via the democratic process alone is commendable. But even now, no one has an iota of trust in that system anymore, everything could be rigged in this country.

Baba Obasanjo is the only reason why we Yorubas can still standup to the igbos and say "No, we are good at ruling and developing the nation" but even that Baba Obasanjo is an Obidient.
Imagine Nigeria going to war with Niger and everyone were hoping that Nigeria should lose the war, no patriotism again, even though people complained bitterly under Jonathan, all Nigerians were solidly behind him and our armies when we went to war with the rebels of Mali and took the country in just two weeks.

and oh by the way, it became obvious that under Jonathan, we were living in paradise.

There are three Nigerian politicians I respect a lot, Jonathan, Saraki and Baba Obasanjo. One is very gentle and down to heart, one is very smart and doesn't pass stupid laws and the baba himself is an action man that knows how to implement and get things done. In fact Jonathan had more gains in ministries and government arms where he retained Obasanjo's appointees. Also the best moments of Nigeria ever since we started this sham we call democracy are either in Obasanjo's second term or Yaradua' and Jonathan's terms.
Now come to think of it, despite the differences in ethnicity and maybe religion, all these people (The ones alive today) are in the obidients' camp.
People say Obi has no good team, wait? are you underrating Aisha Yesufu an 'ordinary' woman that almost brought Nigeria to her knees via her role in end SARS protests? thanks to the bravery of people like her, police brutality went down and SARS got scrapped. Imagine if she is in power!
How can you even blame these people. Imagine that your father has a shop, then your community says the profits from your shop will be used to develop all of the community. That is bad enough right? now imagine that the whole community was actually developed, the community leaders lavishes the profits from your father's shop and the only place they forgot to develop was, guess where? your father's house.
We should understand that the only difference between a hero and a villain is the person that wrote the story. proscribing IPOB was never the right thing in my opinion, it is difficult to kill an idea shared by majority of the people, especially with force. It would be hard to convince an hungry man to stop stealing. But give him money and a job, for a first time, he will sit down and rethink his life decisions. Someone once told me hunger is a powerful motivator.

In this nation one man was caught stuffing stolen dollars into his 'babariga' the past two administrations have shown no interest in probing him and quiet interestingly, some judges are issuing orders that would prevent his state government from carrying out the investigation. Just imagine that! It means we currently run a country, where, with enough power, you can steal in public glare and made away with it. Not by running, but with the aid of the same systems that are meant to prosecute you. By the way, the majority of those monies comes from the region of people we now call terrorists. (Because when it comes to dollars we all know Nigeria has only one major source of earning forex)

In this country, one military chief decided to crush Boko Haram once and for all, he died fatally in a plane crash. Years after, the report about that crash has not been published. If it were published today, it would be a doctored one.

Look at disgraced Abba Kyari, one of those bad eggs in the police force that actually made it to the top, tortured a lot of people, broke many laws, killed many suspects yet he is roaming free today. But one silly allegation against air peace boss and Buhari almost extradited him to the USA someone that is doing for Nigerian aviation what Buhari himself could not do in his 8 years rule.

The reality is that the so called competent leaders are crooks with personal interests, an entirely new team is needed, a team that will gladly work with states men with moderately clean records like Baba Obasanjo and Jonathan, people who have fought for Nigeria directly or indirectly, like Yesufu and people who are ready to put regional agitations aside and fight for a better Nigeria. To hell with 'qualifications' even Buhari ruled Nigeria with 'Nepa certificate' people who say Obi has a third class are often found to be quiet poor themselves but are always watching and attending shows of musicians that are dropouts or never went to school at all. Does that now show you that being successful in something in life is not a factor of how educated you are at all? It's all passion!!

I do not imply that P. Obi can solve Nigeria's problems. At this point it might even be impossible to find a Messiah, the rot is now so deep that we could as well rename the country with it. The point is if we stand any chance of trying something different at all, then we have to push the difference with something entirely different. Obi himself made a mistake of abandoning Atiku who was willing to go only one term so Obi can become president. Certainly we cannot trust this agreement but I think an Atiku/Obi emergence would have saved this country a lot of shit right now.

So really, when these Igbos rant online. They've got the basis and valid reasons to. The only happy people in Nigeria are embezzlers and politicians. The private sector is dying and famine is ravaging the supposed giant of Africa that once exported agricultural produce more than most nations of the world.

Facts.

Each ethnic group has its own pros and cons.

But in this instance of Nigeria's present situation, those who stood against Bubu and are today criticising bulaba are right.

If you blindly supported bubu for 8 years despite the obvious failings and today agree that bubu failed woefully, what moral, political and objective right do you have to be arrogant about your support for bulaba who is even performing worse than bubu?

How can you support a monumental failure for 8 years and expect people who warned you of that failure to now blindly support someone else of your choosing?

Like it is often said, you have to be brain dead to support apc.

Today, I have friends who are hardcore apc loyalists but they are all fighting to leave the country. And when I ask why, they say it is thier choice. But why leave a country you claim is on the right track and progressing...

This is a beautiful write up and unbias
However, i will disagree with you on the Atiku/Obi ticket.

We presently don't need someone like Atiku, i don't trust anyone who is willing to agree to anything just to achieve his personal ambition, trust Atiku at your own risk for the one team as promised.

Obi is the only candidate i believe will be able to get things done.

These Yoruba cowards should stop writting rubbish. They will still Ronu in the next election. A long history of absolute monarchy damaged the Yoruba psyche beyond repair. You acknowledge that Obasanjo was your best but Obasanjo is obidient, that settled the matter. Yorubas are backwards 14th century apes who love to be ruled harshly by powerful kings.

It's really shameful. These people have subjected themselves to an unending slavery claiming RESPECT. When they see a liberal minded fellows who wants to free themselves, they tag it RUDY out of jealous.

How can a tribe which pride itself to be in forefront of education after Awolowo free education be behaving like this? Although this nairaland cannot be used to judge the entire Yoruba race because what I see on Facebook is always different.

ChristCee,

Thank you for the courage to state facts as they are.

I am Igbo from Delta State but I tend to align with SE not because I'm Igbo but because the SE people are the most detribalized and progressive minded people.

If the Igbos say a presidential candidate will not be good for the country, listen to them. Reason is that they're able to tell which president will turn out to be bad market(economic wise) because their focus is majorly strong economy.

Let us give Obi a chance and I have confidence he will reduce corruption drastically and propel the economy to the largest economy in Africa again like GEJ did. He was part of that economic team

I am proudly IGBo and I will say it as it is. How can I be loyal and submissive to an Elder or elders that mortgage the future of my lineage to poverty and penury? Make bad decisions because of bigotry and nepotism?

According to the Yoruba narrative, we should respect elders like Tinubu, Soyinka, Aregbesola and co. Who used ethnic bigotry and vile Propaganda against perceived enemies like IGBOs and their aspirations? We will NEVER respect worthless elders who are greedy and self centered.

I will be proudly IGBO because they tell the elders about their shortcomings to their face. In IGBO land you only OWE your direct parents 100% loyalty and that is because of their status. Any other person as an elder will be treated as they present themselves.

If you are a foolish elder in IGBO land you will be rubbished..if you are Noble and Just , you will be elevated.

Even Kings and Titled men that act with nobility and are just in their actions and utterances are elevated and respected immensely. Even if you see these kings they are normally very humble and humane to their subjects because he knows the real power in IGBO land resides with the people.

If you are a King and you are arrogant and unwise in your utterances and bullish in your actions. It's the citizens that will remove you either by brutal force or they will make your reign worthless and disregard all your activities.

All the lamentations, by Yoruba, gave rise to supporting Awolowo's genocidal actions against IGBOs during the war. After the war same Yoruba decided to mortgage the southern block for Northern political affiliations, even after the same North sabotaged Awolowo's Presidential aspirations, using Obasanjo to achieve it.This is recently replicated by TINUBU and his gathering of worthless noisemakers. Who are still puppets in the scheme of things.

a) Tinubu released Wadume
b) Tinubu released Miyetti Allah Boss
c) Tinubu released Abba Kyari..

and you tell me he wasn't instructed to do so? These are the elders Yoruba worship and tell us to Honor?

All I can say for a fact is this...

TRUTH knows No Age or Tribe and can be very brutally honest and BITTER.

If IGBOs say it as it is .....

...I Will WEAR it as a badge of Honor!!

IGBO AMAKA

As it turned out studying accounting doesn't make you a good president to rebuild the economy. Even Jonathan is a zoologist and Yaradu'a was a military man. besides what does it profit you to graduate first class in let's say commerce but you still ended up looking for employment with someone who runs their own business. Who then is the real economist

This OP mentioned three past presidents of Nigeria whom he thought performed brilliantly: Obasanjo, Yaradua, and Jonathan. None of these presidents are from the South East, yet they were all supported by voters from that region.

I keep telling people that the South East isn't focused on the tribe of the president; they care about who can effectively govern Nigeria. They would vote against a candidate from their own tribe if they believe that person wouldn't be a good president, and instead support a candidate from another tribe who they believe can perform well.

I know many Igbos who would have voted Osibanjo over Obi, in fact it would have been a struggle for Obi in the South East but then, SW saw Osibanjo as someone who would be a bad president grin

This foolish writer can identify someone stuffing kickback "dollars" into his babaringa n want him probed but remind him that Peter Obi also confessed taking the same kickback but the foolish writer will defend probing Peter Obi even when he confessed taking kickback.

Foolish senseless Ipob like this OP think they own monopoly to reasoning like we all could not reason, this slowpoke will claim it was all rossy under Ebele Jonathan that millions of Nigeria that voted overwhelmingly suddenly decided not to vote him in his second term because he was doing a superb job ?!

How stupid or senseless must one reason foolishly to know you are a fool ? If you chose to criticize problem in the country why not do it holistically for the benefit of the country or society.

You think when you reason foolishly out of political tribal or religious sentiment cherry picking faults of those opposing n successes for those you support you think those opposing your views do not have the same right or skills to write jargon just like you or you foolishly assume you own that monopoly. Too many foolish souls plenty for this country I swear.

This is why others countries in Africa can unite even behind the military away from all types of sentiment but Nigeria a foolish soul will pick up pen telling Nigerians about success of PDP under Nigeria like it was not the same Nigerians that voted PDP themselves n only voted against them when they started failing.

How can anybody wake up 2024 to sing the praise of either PDP or APC n you want Nigerians to unite behind your cause ?

There is truly a direct negative impact of absolute monarchy on the psychology of Nigerians.

People who are used to having Emirs and Obas whose words are laws find it difficult to question politicians. They have historically been conditioned not to Question the king who today are juxtaposed with Politicians. Any act of questioning is seen as Disrespect.

Otherwise, how does any smart person support the rot of Buhari for 8yrs and is still supporting the calamity of this administration?

People voted against Jonathan because he attempted removing subsidy which was the right thing to do then but this same APC capitalized on it. Twisted the truth and staged national protest to shut Nigeria. When election came, they promised to reduce the prices of things including petrol and people fell for it, they wanted the so called CHANGE!!

So have it in mind APC's media manipulation took Jonathan out of the Office. Do you remember Jonathan said he was the most insulted president in the history of Nigeria? Who started insults and hate politics? APC and their supporters.
