tensazangetsu20: Man, looking back, I wonder if Oyibo do juju on Nigerians regarding this japa expedition. The tales I have on this thread are not palatable. I recall Emmaodet narrating how shocked he was to see his friends/associates selling all they had just to japa on student visa. Man must be glad with his decision to stay back because I must be honest, it is better to shine teeth with Tinubu as a married man with your hard-earned assets in Nigeria than cry in the UK because the British are making things tight for immigrants. So na so slave trade bin dey? Nna mehn. 3 Likes 1 Share |

Gerrard59:What I mean is that they value UK experience more. However that does not mean that you won't see jobs with Nigerian experience but it might take time. Don't be surprised that u get over 150 rejection on indeed but if u keep pressing u might get at last But you and I know we needed money instantly to sort bills immediately we land in the country hence hoping on this big jobs is not the best. Even if they pick you, the reference and screening stage and whole recruitment stage might take 3months. So it's something you plan for long run . But in short run immediately u land ... Cleaning jobs, security, warehouse, care, factory jobs might employ u much quicker. Infact they have been a life saver to many |

Gerrard59: The graduate trainee jobs are super competitive. Don't forget that both undergraduate and postgraduates are eligible for this. You can have 300+ people applying for just one or two positions. That's the ratio. Pre tests are similar to those dragnet/shl exams with very little time. So they take the very best from this outcome |

Gerrard59: The only exception is if you have a scholarship or study in Brazil, a tuition free country. With proper planning, it is cheaper get a BSc and a better education in Brazil than in present Nigeria. 1 Like |

fullclub: In summary, a one-year MSc program is not worth it as it leaves a short time to go through the recruitment process. lastkingsman: Well, the same process here: SPI tests as they are called are similarly bloody and strictly in Japanese. The good thing is the program is two years. 1 Like |

Karleb: This involves learning Portuguese from secondary school and being hopeful a visa would be issued to write the entrance examination into Brazillian universities. The aspect of scholarship isn't applicable as anyone regardless of economic background can get a scholarship, and apart from the US, there exist very countries that offer full tuition and living expense stipends to undergraduate applicants, which are highly competitive anyway, 2 Likes |

Gerrard59: I get one wey I fail wey still dey pain me. The outcome was they needed above average scores for both the verbal and quantitative reasoning. Got above average for quantitative and average for verbal. See better trainee job with salary above the 38,700£ thresholds. They will eventually sponsor it one can get it. |

It looks like the UK has introduced visa interviews for student visas. Do you know anyone who has applied for a student visa recently and got approved or rejected without an interview ? |

fullclub: Another thing is that you need time to actually prepare and pass interviews for such jobs and if you are doing the menial jobs you might never have that time. 1 Like |

lastkingsman: Generally, across the world, na during the test stage most applicants dey fail. I don't know how it is for American firms, because I don't often see/read that firms organise aptitude tests for applicants. But the test stage is where dreams die. |

Gerrard59: Its not easy out there but if one must travel selling of properties must not be an option because if things turns south then you fall back home and still hold ur property. Secondly if one has a good job with good career progression prospect it's better to hold on to it or expand into business alongside the job. Lastly you should only leave your current job of its work related visa you got. Like you applied for job and they recruited you and gives you COS. You don't have to look back just leave 1 Like 1 Share |

NezzyMike: Am into security alongside forklift unless you know that supplier directly and he agreed to pay by hand. I called supplier because they are middle men who take contracts from those who wa given the main job and they supply to location. And it's rare.. That is why I said 99.9% impossible to find. No well established security suppliers will indulge in that believe me... And lastly don't take risk of saying I know this one it work for because before u get here that window might have closed like the person is not ready or don't have sites to send u to. Lastly almost all agencies hardly gives 20hrs job as most pub jobs are evening like 7 and ends 12 midnight and you got to work for 2 days... Friday and Saturday. And almost all pub related jobs operate this way. Just 12hours per week and it flows through NI |

Gerrard59: If people can learn Arabic because of religion, they can learn any language. This is where proper planning even shines sef. Getting aa visa to Brazil is not hard, from what I have seen, it's easier than getting visa to European countries or Northern America. Scholarship are not as competitive as we think, I know a dude in my department, he was my senior colleague. He graduated with a 2.2 and still got scholarship to study abroad. Sometimes all you need is to apply with a good SOP and a good Research proposal. 1 Like |
