Besides money from insecurity is more than enough. Sheybi na last month a female soldier stole and sold the gold chain of a Generals wife worth over 70m. To such a person, wetin him. wan use coup do again?

Story the gold chain is not worth like that exaggeration two boys accused police of stealing 50million worth of God chain when it was found it worth less than 50k

It's as simple as that, there's no two way about it.

Instead of the demagogue to get serious with what they are being elected and appointed to do, many of them are busy playing the game of musical chairs.

Between 1966 and 1999 when most of the coup took place in Nigeria, things were better but the demons among us wanted less than prosperity and orderliness for all. They wanted everything for their own selves, religion and region. If coup could be justified with corruption then, just know it can be justified many times more as things are now.

Any coup in Nigeria of today (2024), if successful, will lead to a very bloody civil war.

Nigeria is already so much polarized, and there is so much weapons proliferation with various Non state armed groups operating in the country already.

General Abdulsalam should forget this idea of military coup in today's Nigeria.
so the yahoo democracy is better abi? Another Omo-eru, amoda children we see una o 😅

The plot thickens
lol. There is nothing like the plot thickens because the top military hierarchy always enjoy civilian dispensations more than
military regimes, especially under this APC emilokan government, moreover Nigeria's political elites have the same characters
either military or civilian - they are all corrupt and selfish.
Presently patriotism is a scarce commodity in Nigeria, so who is going to risk his assured comfort zone in the name of coup plots ?

Let's pray it doesn't happen again in Nigeria.

It could happen, but I have a strong notion that it would fail. Or rather it could birth something we ain't all prepared for.

Be deceiving yourself, all the armed groups you are talking about are mincemeat for a military under a serious government. Do you think this government cares about anything other than stealing public funds?

With the state of things in the country now, Nigerians will erupt in wild jubilations if the military states a coup now to overthrow this useless civilian government of APC

I agree that wild jubilation will erupt if military takes over.

However , what can the people do if their jubilation turns to sorrow quickly if unfortunately military becomes worse than "this useless civilian government of APC" as you called it.

Sometimes , the Devil you know may actually be better than the Angel you wished for.

If you were alive and witness Idi Amin of Uganda, you will know that it is not easy to wrestle power out of the hands of an evil military dictator. No freedom of speech, no freedom of movement, no freedom of protest. No freedom of anything.

I will prefer this democracy in which we can change whoever is there every four years compared with a dictator who can forcefully stay there till he dies.

Were the Military better?
-If so why did- M/Mohammed removed all the Military -Governors then and called them Very Corrupt and raised marshalls and investigation on them?
-Why did other Coups that followed from Murtala, including - Buhari, Babangida,Abacha could not moved Nigeria Positively to the Eldorado Nation?
-The One Great thing done by the Abdulsalami- which has given him Respect above others - is the quick Returns Of Civilian Rule and we still applaud him till today because he is Not-Greedy.Respect Sir!
-According to the Sage - Chief Obafemi Awolowo 'the Best of Military in govt is Worst than the worst of Civilians in govt'
Reasons - a Military Rules is by Decree right or wrong;they can be Sleeping with your wife and Stealing big,but you dare not talk or complain!
So,how did Abacha moved the highest Money through FOREX out of Nigeria and till date,Europe and other Countries are still returning the Stolen Loot?
If they have better ideas in running the Govt, they ought to have made Nigeria -Great during their times but we thank them for the maintaining Security of Nigeria but they should Leave Governance Alone(LGA) for Civilians!
Many of the African Military will still end up with Coups and Counter Coups because of greed and taste of Power.
•What Nigerians-Want is Accountabilities in Govt, especially, when the Budgets are Cornered from the Masses-from Local government, States Governors, Legislatures,Ministers, and Federal Instruments of Operations including -MDAS (Mins, Depts and Agencies of govt ) because the so called Civilians too are Greedy, Insensitive,Unpatrotic and Indiscipline -in all the Areas they ought to have lifted Nigerians above Poverty level.
•Remember that we are just above 200 Millions ,but Chinese and India( 2.4 Billion People) -got independence the same time with us,so what is wrong with a Black Man in Africa?
Can't we just be Model for other Continents?

What if the coup junta decides to get ipob, fulani herdsmen, bokoharam to fight using mass hunger, burning of farms , burning of houses , businesses, markets, shops , poisoning of rivers , stream and mass killing of young boys and young men , mass starvation, shooting at any thing that moves and that doesn't move , blockade of medicine, food, services on the side that resists the coup , will there still be civil war?

There is a difference between a civil war and mass slaughter. Some cities that people are boasting about will be turned into Gaza overnight and looted to its foundation. With every metallic object uprooted.

Finally, remember that all is fair in war and starvation is a legitimate weapon of war in Nigeria.
