[quote author=ALCOHOLKILLS post=130266438]You guys must be part of oduduwa region either you like it or not, Lagos wealths must spread across the six state of Ekiti Oyo Ogun Osun and Kwara respectively 😒

Ungrateful people, other Yoruba have been fighting for you and now you want to enjoy your wealth alone

What sort of fight have you been fighting for them ? Fighting to usurp thier wealth or what ? Osun, Ogun, ondo and Ekiti man can be a governor of Lagos State but no Lagos State man is allowed to be ordinary councilor in Ogun state the immediate neighbor. Is that the fight you talk about ?

I don't think people of Lagos will bother if you take those cities back to south west region

We are taking back lekki, apapa, ikorodu, Ikeja, mainland Lagos. I wonder what's left in Lagos.

Did you read the title of the thread? Is says return to regionalism. Western region will not be completed until all the parts are back together. So, any part that wasn't part of western region might be excused.
do you realise that if that becomes a thing then it applies to other parts of the country and not just lagos alone? I am talking of the southern parts of the country and even the fct which owe most of its land to the surrounding states including kogi

WE LEFT THE SPACE AND RETURNED TO OUR REGION AND STATES.

PORT HARCOURT IS NOT IGBO, NEITHER IS IT IJAW OR OGONI, IT IS JUST A PLACE WHERE ALL CAN COEXIST.

As usual, Nigerians are getting it wrong.

Grow up! Regionalism was the system that fully explored Nigeria's resources and potential. Now, we have States, instead of Regions. So, the idea is to develop along State lines.

But MUMU Nigeria will misunderstand the idea, and wreck everything.

Regionalism is not a political structure. It is economic decentralization whereby, States have more control over their own destiny, to explore, harness, and manage their resources and products. AND RETAIN MUCH OF THEIR RESOURCE REVENUE!! (Of course, States will pay taxes to the federal government, and make other payments based on their revenues)

Decentralization is ONE of the reasons America, for instance, has a diversified, varied, wide-ranging and vibrant economy, because US Government DARE NOT take oil revenue of Texas or Alaska and distribute it to Michigan or other States. Just like Nigeria is allocating resource revenue of Rivers State to every other State.

Decentralization is the reason Advanced countries like America or Canada have stupendously vast economic opportunities. Depending on competence and other factors, some States experience economic boom, and, unfortunately, some States lag behind. Decentralization is the reason California is the 5th largest economy in the world - in the world. That is ONE State in the US!!!! Now, imagine, where Rivers State, Nigeria, would rank if Nigeria did not practise an over-centralized system that equalizes all States in the federation, thereby nationalizing poverty. Nigeria is basically sabotaging itself. (But there's a reason, which we can discuss later)

Now the indigenous people of Lagos are talking. I used to wonder how they allowed abobakus to invade them from their rusted slum settlements and took over their state.

Lagos and Abuja will definitely be independent regions on their own, for the regionalism to work. Some parasites can’t reap where they didn’t sow.

As long As the 99% of Lagos State that belongs to the Western Region is returned

Let them keep their Lagos Island

Actually they are 9, Ekiti, Ondo, Oyo, Ogun, Osun, Oyo, Lagos, Kwara and part of Kogi . Kwara and that part of kogi are the old Oyo empire, but if merged becomes 8 states. BROTHER MAKE UNA READ HISTORY SMALL O. Go and follow River Niger to the left till it enters into the lagoon, that's Yoruba land. for proper understanding study the map from 1800 before independence till today 2024, you will be shocked how much land the North has stolen from Yoruba .

Stolen empty land? The reason why nobody is complaining about those boundaries is because it is empty land

Sure, in such a situation a referendum will be the most acceptable option. A few disgruntled folks cannot decide for millions of people. if in such a situation the people of Lagos state in fact says they no longer wish to be part of the western region then so be it. But this important decision will not be made by some obscure group calling themselves renaissance whatever.

Keep dreaming. Not one cup of sand from what is Lagos state today will be taken away if Lagos gets it's special status.

You are ignorant of the real people that own and control Lagos. Tinubu is not even one of them. Most are not Yoruba people or even Nigerians by origin.

What Lagos is failing to realize is that in the regional system, Lagos and Western Nigeria will be symbiotic to each other. Western Nigeria needs the coastal access of Lagos. Lagos needs the land mass of Western Nigeria to extend coastal influence and control

All this gra gra over nonsense is nonsensical.

Your obas and leaders of old who wanted to stand alone fought for it under the context of a premise the current generation know nothing about. Their time and era has long gone. This is another era with completely different dynamics.

Britain, Spain, France, Portugal are all waiting in the wings for regionalism to happen. And by the time they capture all vested interests, Lagos will be so irrelevant. Lagos is just a tiny land mass with an absurd demography. Regionalism will burst that bubble.

This where the problem would always come from. It's not even the north that is afraid of Biafra or standing as a country as I've always said.

It's the west mostly non Lagosians who mostly as parasites are scared of leaving their host because of fear of survival, pity at some leeches tho

If Tinubu and his cohorts were salivating over control of Lagos in a regional setup, this will make them think 'hang on a minute' then take a second look at the whole venture! If Lagos stands alone in the event of a return back to regionalism, how then can Tinubu continue being the Lagos godfather and impose governors on the state!

Rest guy, Lagos belong to Yorubas, and there is nothing like indigenous or whatever an handful set of people were calling themselves. Every region will still have few minority groups, so this few individuals are only seeking for unsolicited attention.

This should not be in the news or issue to discuss at all.

Well, if they demand for the Original areas that were the Colony of Lagos to be carved out for them separately, I see nothing bad in it. They may have their reasons for desiring to be separated. Personally, I feel it has to do with their Saro history.

We agree

Lagos Island is theirs

The rest of Lagos State belonged to the Western Region

Instead of worrying about the Western region, worry about the fate of your people who are cowards. 40m people forced to sit at home every Monday by a ragtag group with less than 1,000 members.

Worry about a landlocked region filled with terrorists, criminals, drug dealers and baby factories. Btw, I don't know what Delta people will do but this is a pictorial evidence of how Ore will look one week after regionalism. Our Itsekiri and Edo brothers will be the only ones allowed free movement.
