Bro, at 60k minimum wage, cost of commodities will increase significantly, workers will be laid off, people will suffer. NLC is misguided

Go and ask your sponsors why they increased petrol from 187 to 800

Why naira now exchanges for 1500

Are the masses the cause?

Tell your political masters in all branches of government to stop collecting salaries

No more international travels

All these monies be pumped into the economy for 6 months, let's see if lack of money cries won't stop.

You're shouting inflation bla bla bla but your leaders keep increasing what they get from our purse, they spend on useless things like hajj and travel expenses.

Of what use are these expenses to our economy getting better after they used their policies to scatter the country within 12 months.

At present Nigeria's minimum wage is N30,000, yet many states and organisations are unable to meet these wage demands. Our inflation rate is astronomically high (hyperinflation), which can be attributed to Nigeria's low economic production level. Any significant increment in minimum wage could be be devastating to everyone. Perhaps N50,000 - N65,000 as minimum wage wouldn't be that bad, but even at this rate, how many State government, organisation or private employers can meet this? How many employers are faithful to N30,000 minimum wage?

Because those people who refused to pay 30K are very wicked.

It is highly regrettable that NLC did not fight this out on time.

It is high time NLC saw to this to the "finishing line"

Re: Minimum Wage: Let's Be Reasonable - TonyeBarcanista by ejieddy: 1:52pm On Jun 03
So your rich idea, let them suffer and die of hunger. While the government continues to feed fat. Wow! So sensitive and considerate. When government dished out money to import bulletproof vehicles, you didn't write this rubbish about inflation. When they increased vat, removed oil and forex subsidy, paid billions for Pilgrimage and travel, no inflation story. Now that you see that labour is serious and have gone ahead with the strike and there's close to 100% compliance, you are trying to guilt trip us into inflation. We can manage with 2% inflation increase according to your story if they pay us 100k. At least, we can afford it. Thank God you mentioned productivity. If this govt isn't productive, they don't deserve to have peace while we suffer. Let us see that they are doing something and not bragging here and there. worst administration in the history of Nigeria.

You have said it all but many think it's about shouting look at the current cost of food imagine what will happen to minimum wage increase that will lead to higher inflation Zimbabwe story may even be a child's play and some to of it the NLC controls less than 30% of the labour force because 70% are of the private sector and individuals so what's going to happen when they can't pay will be forced to shut down and increase unemployment

stop displaying your ignorance here, you are a politician, you will always defend your pot and areas you are paying your bills monthly. #60k proposed by the Fg is highly bad and unjustifiable here, tell me as Pdp governors you are supporting on Twitter reduced their wages and allowances. Has lawmakers and political office holders reduced their salaries and allowances to reduced inflation in Nigeria? You will never say that. Workers demands is necessary and it’s their right for wage increase. Fg should comply and increased the wage bill further or else, it will reduce Tinubu governance. My best advice here. At least if the Fg increase it to #150k or #200k, it’s justifiable. #60k is never justifiable in this inflated Tinubu economy.

Have you asked your partial brains what the cost of running government in Nigeria is? That political and elective positions are attracting business people more than anything because of corruption and high cost of running government?

All states in Nigeria can comfortably pay 100k minimum wage if they cut cost, obliterate the illegal office of the first lady and foreign trips.

you lost your respect many years ago when you morphed into a paid government spokesperson.

You are creating a false causality between minimum wage and inflation.
Haba, you can hold a different viewpoint without being illogical and disingenuous.
Very horrible take, brother!

It is so illogical that it is evil.

How much can you be paid to sell your consciencse?

Look at the 2024 budget and the demonic wickedness perpetrated therein!

why are you like this?

"Let's take for instance when minimum was was increased to N18,000 in 2011, inflation increased to 10.83 percent. Similarly, when it was increased in 2018 to N30,000, inflation rate increased to 12.1% (it was more unofficially). The only time inflation rate did not increase with increase in minimum wage was in 2000 when minimum wage was increased to N5,000, this was due to the high productivity in Nigeria, notably the telecom boom and banking sectors"

In the time interval you refer to, how many times has there been a salary increase?
What is the inflationary trend when salaries are not increased?

How do you suggest for people to survive when the minimum wage is not even enough to buy half a bag of rice?

How can you, in all good conscience, justify the monies squandered and the outright callous banditary by the political class?

There's no way organized labour would start fighting against Tinubu's anti people policy, because that's just going political and it's people like you who would condemned them first. When the minimum wage wasn't increased there was heavy inflation,so it's better to increase the minimum wage and let what would happen. Happen! I don tire self

Toh

My own curiosity is, if some states are still paying the N18k minimum wage claiming they can't afford N30k.

How then do you expect such states to pay anything above N100k?

We are even yet to talk about the private sectors. Would they be able to afford above N100k minimum wage? Even if the minimum wage is pegged around N80k, there would still be lay off.

How about the inflation the ridiculous amount N464k abi na how much NLC would cause?

This 464k doesn't seem feasible
What about private sectors will they be able to meet up? The biggest mistake this govt made was removing fuel subsidy. That decision alone birthed a lot of trouble for the economy. It was not a well thought out plan at all.

Tonya or Tonde abi what is that your name, inflation is now almost 34% was it pay increase for civil servants that caused it? First ask yourself, why is it that when the masses ask for pay increase politicians begin to talk about inflation. N5b for yacht, N40B to renovate Aso rock, morethan N7Billion to renovate VP's office, 100s of Millions of Naira to buy jeeps for assembly men and women etc dont cause inflation right? It's not your fault. Hold your wisdom there brother bfor u collect. Nigerians are hungry and angry
