My own curiosity is, if some states are still paying the N18k minimum wage claiming they can't afford N30k.

How then do you expect such states to pay anything above N100k?

We are even yet to talk about the private sectors. Would they be able to afford above N100k minimum wage? Even if the minimum wage is pegged around N80k, there would still be lay off.

How about the inflation the ridiculous amount N464k abi na how much NLC would cause?

If the president and his vice can spend over billions of Naira on flights for just three months, why then he cannot afford the new minimum wage

Govt officials are living large while workers are living in penury ... They increase taxes ,increase everything and we couldn't see where they spent the money on ...it is like monkey is working and baboon is eating ..The resources the Govt is wasting is now been placed upon average Nigeria to bear the burden. This anomaly must not proceed further .

Increasing the salary of judges by 800% and that of the political class astronomically did not cause any problem.?
Workers being paid a living wage just to survive will cause a lot of problem?

You are wrong for a number of reasons except the government has told a lie that:

- subsidy is removed and it is now enjoying massive savings from the removal of subsidy
- naira floating greatly increase government revenue.

If the above statements are true, then the government is just redistributing its massive windfall income and savings it has reap.

The government needs to restore the minimum wages to their original position in "real terms" which is important to keep living standard constant and increase disposable income (if any), allowing the domestic economy to be strong

You are missing the point. The problem is not the minimum wage but bad leader
Ship of the nation. If the minimum. wage is even taken to 1m per month, every other thing too will rise to meet that range, you can't be earning 1m a month and expect to still buy tomatoes at 100k per basket it will go to like 200k per basket.
What I see to be the problem is that the same people shouting about minimum wage now are those who voted for Buhari twice and again voted for Tinubu and were all shouting and chanting " on your mandate ". So they are getting what they want.
Secondly, the NLC has not been very vocal against various corruption malpractices of the govt, and they see that as the duty of the opposition forgetting that they are the ones who are directly affected.
Let's all protest against the incompetence of this Tinubu govt first before asking for a salary increase. What is the use of salary increase that will cause even more hardship and poverty?

Labour know they can't get 464k. They just want something reasonable. Government should be reasonable too. An average senator earns roughly 13m every month while you who do the work is demanding for 80k. Benin Republic minimum wage is CFA52,000 which amounts to N127,000. Same goes for Togo. SA is N2,150. 8 hours in SA is N17k. I. 20 days, you have over 300k in Naira. Why are you demanding for 80k? Senators earn up to N13m every month. Go and change your poverty mindset.

What useless inflation are you talking about.? A bag of rice already rose from 8k to 80k with the same 18k/30k minimum wage. From January last year till now, garri rose from 1,200 to 4k. What other time of inflation do you now want to talk about?

You’ve said everything man, anyone against this is just a fool

Give them the 500k o. Fucking Clowns. Let's turn the country to Zimbabwe.

Instead they should be pressuring Cardoso and Edun to either fix the shitty economy or resign.

In what reality will FG pay 450 or 500k?

Starvation wage is worse than inflation. It breeds corruption and nonproductivity.

The 37 man commitee collected 1billion for this excercise.

What stops them from being transparent with the public for how they arrived at what ever figure they are presenting to NLC and justify it?

It could be "we want minimum wage to be 45k because with the policies in place, by December 2024, 1$ will be equal to 300 naira per campaign promise."

So you know things ll increase but you can't charge FG to stop spending lavishly during PDP era and during this APC era?
Both apac and PDP lawmakers got N160m SUVs o.
I don't blame you. You won't give these type of analysis under PDP that you supported. Was it not same PDP that dragged Nigerians to APC thinking they were better not knowing both are same.
Hypocrite. Your thread isn't a solution. Solution is drastic production and dragging down of earning of politicians.
Your paymasters and yaself are feeding from Nigeria and it's affecting the masses. All govt earnings are mostly used for servicing politicians since 1999. This must stop.

Ok, whole of Nigeria don gree in fact they don't want increment again. Can those ridiculous money of politicians be cut? How can lawmakers be earning N29.48m as salary and allowance monthly? Re: Minimum Wage: Let's Be Reasonable - TonyeBarcanista by Calylove: 2:19pm On Jun 03
The 400k NLC is demanding is cool. If the government can not keep inflation at bay, NLC should not back down too. It is the responsibility of the government to make sure inflation is checked. Inflation already soaked the 30,000 minimum wage since. Which family can adequately survive on 30,000 minimum wage? It's funny how the Nigerian government treats its people. So, it is from 30,000 that those who earn minimum wage rent a house, transport to work, feed three times a day and many more? It is not. So, where does the balance come from? It comes from colliding to steal, begging, body sale by women and many more. The day the Nigerian government becomes sincerely sincere, that is when they will have real peace.

I recommend Governor Obaseki model of governance to everyone in offices including the private sectors;
1, Eliminate waste in government.
2, stop sharing /using government money for political patronages.
3, All revenue collection to government account with transparency.
4, Expand, increase and account for all revenue collected transparently.
Stop capital flight abroad.
5, politician and department heads to live and set example of prudence in government offices.
And 6, reduce the cost of governance.
Lastly, Edo state used to be a civil servant state owning years and months of salaries and pensions. Then came a single minded humble but serious individual with a plan, the result is there for all to see.

It's very easy, tell Tinubu to return everything back to the old pricee and we forget about new wage increase

Gbam.
When the government increased tarrif on rice, wheat and vehicles to 70%, we did not experience deflation or even an decrease in inflation.

When the government increased VAT from 5% yo 7.5%, we did not experience deflation.

When the government floated the Naira from N400 to N700 and now to N1400, we did not experience deflation.

When the FG and state budget and expenditure keep increasing year on year without corresponding increase in wages, we did not experience deflation.

It is only when minimum living wage, which cannot even sustain a students running expenses for one month is discussed that we realize it would lead to inflation.
