Dear NLC, please don't fold.

From 2019-2024, NASS budget increased from N128bn to N344.9bn while workers salary remained 30k for the same period.

Their monthly pay increased from N29.4m to N37.57m while workers salary remained 30k.

All they achieved was new national anthem.

Isidore0001

Dear NLC,

See how much one sitting senator is earning in Nigeria. Yet the Senate President is begging people to accept 35k as national minimum wage.

If you back down from this strike without achieving your aim of making life easier for the common man, then you have failed.

SirDavidBent

Dear NLC,

Anything below N500,000 can’t cover the cost and expenses of workers…..

Monthly bills of foodstuffs, cooking gas, petrol/transport fees, kids school fees, Tv bills, electricity bills, health bills and many more other expenses for family.

AbbaM_Abiyos

Dear NLC, You

off light = dem on gen
water = dem get borehole
close school = abroad
close banks = aboki
Hospital = private

Na the Airport dey sweet me pass, they don’t have private airport 😂🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣lobatan.
I_Am_marwa

Dear NLC,

If the federal government does not make a reasonable offer, continue the strike.

Yours Sincerely,
Nigerians.

This data is so infuriating.
Frame 1: Monthly salary for a senator in Nigeria.
Frame 2: NASS budget compared to minimum wage over the years.

Dear NLC, if you back down it will not be well with you

kathiiie

This is the only time I feel like hitting the street in protest.
Dear NLC anything below 100k should not be accepted.
We are solidly behind you, the hardship is unbearable.

Toluxkelv

Dear NLC and TUC, intensify this protest and don't listen to the emotional blackmail from the government and it's sycophants supporters.

If you get weary & tired, trust sensible Nigerians to join you guys.

Dear NLC, remember this is a just cause.

MercyEgbai

Dear NLC,

The presidential aide earns 2 Million Naira a month, y'all work harder than these lazy people, make sure you get all you're asking for.

If y'all burn, call on the Nigerian youth, we will join you on the street protests.

Labour unions should fight their course to the end. Nigerians are heavily and solidly behind you here. We are in the month of June, fight it to the end. A senator that only attend sittings 12 times in a month is collecting over #20m monthly why a Nigeria worker that’s working 8-4pm for 5 or 6 days per week is earning #30k minimum wage. Radarada, Nigeria workers should fight their course well. God dey their backs.

NLC should shut down everywhere if they want but NLC and TUC should have a rethink over the national grid.

don't let them deceive u. How many times hospitals are using NEPA light? There is no different between private and government hospital again now due to their outrageous bills. So they should settle for generator they have been using.

Ajaero is unpopular, if he was popular, people would willingly follow him and there'd be no need to forcefully push workers out of their office. In Jos, some NLC workers enforcing the strike were beaten up and got injured in same manner he was beaten in Imo state.

The disparities are unjust and inhuman! angry
Take a look at the breakdown of the senators' monthly emoluments. I'm more incensed by item 13, 'leave allowance', If these figures are true, it means they are paid 8 times the wage of the "downtrodden" for doing absolutely nothing!!

Abia state can't pay the old 18k to its workers, much less the current 30k. Can't you see much sufferings in Abia if the new minimum wage is effective?

What does being unpopular or popular have to do with workers getting a decent wage to live?

hisexcellency34:
Reno Omokri, a former presidential aide on Monday says the N494,000 Minimum wage being demanded by organised labour is unrealistic.

PART 1
The labour leaders are currently commencing a nationwide indefinite strike due to the refusal of the Federal Government to increase the proposed minimum wage from N60,000.

In a post on his Facebook page, he also accused the president of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Joe Ajaero of fronting for Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the 2023

He wrote “₦494,000 is more than sixteen times the current minimum wage of ₦30,000. If the Federal Government accepts that as the new minimum wage, and Nigeria’s production capacity does not also increase times sixteen, it will lead to the mother of all inflation that will destroy the Nigerian economy and turn us into Zimbabwe and Venezuela”.

PART 2
“If producers of goods and services, like Dangote, Indomie, Nestle, Flour Mills of Nigeria, Glo, petrol stations, etc, have to pay their staff a minimum of ₦494,000, WHAT DO YOU THINK THEY WILL CHARGE FOR THEIR PRODUCTS? You, as a worker, will be jumping from frying pan to fire!”.

“Joel Ajaero and his gang are not economists, and worse still, they are supporters of Peter Obi. They endorsed him during the election. They campaigned for him. They defended him. Please assume I am a liar and fact-check me. They are fighting a proxy war for Peter Obi. Obviously, the 2027 election is affecting their direction. They do not have an economic agenda. They have a political objective”.

“If the Federal Government should give in to their outrageous demands, it is you who will suffer. Ajaero is not poor. He has money. He travels abroad in style. He can relocate his family. It is you and your family that will bear the brunt of this politician in labour union clothes.
#TableShaker”

Your Obidient favourite state, Abia, was even fighting against paying ordinary 30k. He held workers salary for 8 months due to stinginess. Same Otti is busy inflating contracts and annexing billions to his pocket.

Peter Obi did the same when he was governor. Doctors, teachers , workers all went on strike for months. Doctors went a whole 13 months. Teacher were on strike for 7 months and he even tried to sack them.

He declared a strike yet workers went to office, only to start using cane on them, same act that got him beat up in imo state. Ask yourself, can Ajaero pay his gateman or driver 494k minimum per month?. Don't follow blindly, let's be reasonable.
