He declared a strike yet workers went to office, only to start using cane on them, same act that got him beat up in imo state. Ask yourself, can Ajaero pay his gateman or driver 494k minimum per month?. Don't follow blindly, let's be reasonable.

I am surprised they are fighting the government.
I thought the only solution is japa.
Then the people turn around to wail about xenophobia. How do you expect respect from citizens who stay back to fight their government when all you do is run away from such fight in your country? Citizens stayed and challenged their government to make the place habitable. And you expect them to welcome cowards with open hands.

Ajaero is unpopular, if he was popular, people would willingly follow him and there'd be no need to forcefully push workers out of their office. In Jos, some NLC workers enforcing the strike were beaten up and got injured in same manner he was beaten in Imo state.

In my humble opinion, I would have wanted Labour to insist on government cutting their cost of governance instead of this minimum wage thing.

Even if the minimum wage becomes 500k+, which will be detrimental to the economy, it's just ludicrous that a senator earns N30million+ monthly in allowances. How on earth did we get here??

Can we ask that the minimum wage for Senators be N350k in total emoluments monthly plus other national benefits like free healthcare for their families in any hospital in the country, free accommodation in their local government, pensions, free bus rides in public transports ONLY, etc?

Let's make governance unattractive to politicians, but enticing to technocrats who want to serve!!

Truth is the new minimum wage will cause severe inflation. Rent will astronomically go up, there will be loss of jobs are so many company may not be able to pay. It's going to be a very rough ride. Best idea would have been subsidy in govt owned transport system, have an understanding with the Chinese government to buy trucks and let govt take over food pricing and movement to mitigate food inflation, etc.

@ the bolded. Are you sure you know what you're saying?

No new minimum wage has been signed into law yet. They're still negotiating. Wait until a new minimum wage is signed before you start speculating what will happen after.

Business lunch, receiving official guests, etc.

naptu2:
Aha! This thing is back again, but I am too lazy to search for my old posts. Luckily it coincides with something similar that I want to write about, so I will lump both of them into one short post.

Imagine that you work for a company and the company expects you to close a deal with a certain wealthy and famous client. You invite the client to dinner or you have a business lunch. That dinner or lunch will not take place at Chicken Republic or Mr Biggs. It'll be at an expensive restaurant. Of course the company will pay because you were there on company business. But you must make sure you close the deal. The company will be happy to pay because the benefits of the deal outweigh the cost of dinner.

It's the same with governments. Nigerians are being attacked in South Africa, Nigerian companies want to invest in South Africa but have hit road blocks, while South Africa's huge investments in Nigeria are being threatened by bad feeling on the streets and conflicts with regulators. Therefore you have a state visit to sort out the problems at the highest level. Of course a state banquet will be part of that visit.

You are a state governor and there are problems that you want the Federal Government to assist you with. Worse still, you have things that you want to do, but federal officials are making things difficult for you. Organise a state visit by the president, show him the problems first hand, get him to commission some projects that you've done, so that he'll see that you are working and not just whining. Of course you also need to have a state banquet as part of the visit.

That's what I mean by entertainment budget.

The other nonsense has started again. "Why do presidents travel"?

I have told you the most important reason above (the South Africa example). Look at the other recent example. Nigeria desperately needs investment in infrastructure. Siemens is providing equipment to improve our electricity grid. You want to expand that partnership that you inherited (you want to include renewable energy).

Germany desperately needs gas, because their biggest provider (Russia) is playing politics with it. Nigeria has a lot of gas and badly needs money. Then you are saying that the German Chancellor should not travel to Nigeria and the Nigerian President should not travel to Germany?? How will they do it? By juju? No sane person will say that.

The worst thing, the Nigerian pendulum, the reason that I wrote about this in the past is that it is the same people that say that the Nigerian President should not travel that will claim that Nigeria is not respected if the president does not travel and does not appear at international fora.

RECESS ALLOWANCE 20% of B.S is #240,424.56

Also

ACCOMMODATION 30% of B.S is #4,968,500.00
UTILITIES 30% of B.S is #828,081.83....

you are trying so hard to come across as someone that is woke...but you are really so daft and am not offering any escape route for you..continue in that state of mind..it might probably serve you well

This is simple basic laws of life since time immemorial. A man eats what he sows, from the toil of your hands you shall eat. The real world does not care what the price of garri is in the market. What matters is what is the economic value of your abour or output? That is what determines what you are paid.

I repeat for the umpteenth time, the average worker in Nigeria has an output of N150k a month. So you understand, a minimum wage worker under civil service structure is level 1, a graduate is level 4, a perm sec is level 16. So the average worker we are talking about is level 8, I.e a graduate with experience. Where then should a minimum wage worker fit it if a graduate with experience only has an economic output of N150k?

These are facts not sentiment. What you people are suggesting is that the minimum wage worker should be subsidized for his inefficiencies and lack of productivity and we know what Al happens to subsidies in the end. Besides, where is the money to come from? You may not like my comments about religion but I am simply giving you one example why the output of the Nigerian worker is so low.
