Hi, does anyone here know about the Sun king 500x and if it will be a good buy. Planning to get one to power my laptop mostly.

The sunking home 500x can not power your laptop. They are used mainly for light (those fluorescent tubes attached) and charging of phones by plugging your USB directly into the USB port.

If you want to power your laptop, get beebeejump or mtn lumos. Those ones come with small 150W inverter.

Well, what you want is an inverter + battery.

Get a hybrid inverter of your choice.

Get a DIY lifepo4 battery from isangjohnson or Valto.

The specifications of both will depend on your load and how long you need the battery to last.

Please gurus in the house, I have 2 questions.
1. I'm trying to build a lithium battery pack. Can I use button head 18650 lithium batteries, or only flat heads are acceptable?

2. Where can I source good lithium battery please? I'm based in Ilorin.

The urge to add something to one's system is consistent with most solar enthusiasts. I remember when you spent huge on your upgrade around 2022.

Not a wise expenditure, you will spend more on the long run. When you install an inverter and battery, and light power goes of for 2 hours, traditionally you will switch over to inverter. Ok, you drain 5KWh from your battery before power is restored, your inverter will have to use your Units of 5KWh + Energy used in conversion and powering system components to dump back that 5KWh into the battery (a process we call recharging the battery) so you might end up using up to 7KWh energy to recharge your battery that you drained 5KWh from except you are not paying for the power supply you are getting.

So you see, you took less and paid more.

Solar is the way to go bro, If you ain't doing solar, don't waste your money. This is an advice you may not comprehend right away though.

thank you for this.....reason am looking for things simple is,this office is managed by a lady and i don't know how long we will stay in that particular location,so trying to see something simple that can help them..we are not using anything major there, just office lights, fans and laptops

Doesn't matter. You should go for something mobile for if and when you move, it moves with you without breaking a sweat.

Hey all hope Ure great

Recently added a 4.6KW PV to my 5kva inverter setup ( for 8 units of 580w jinko panels from fuoani)

I noticed that the PV only peaks 3,000w between 9am and 12 noon, after that time frame it just coasts around 1,000w and when load is added to it surges to 1900w max... By 3pm it drops to 800w

Please is the norm or might the PV array not have being optimally placed on the roof.

My setup consists of

5kva Growatt hybrid inverter

4 luminous 220ah tubular batteries

8 580w jinko monocrystalline solar panels

My average load during the day: 300w - 800w

One or two surges in load during the day to 2,000w for max time of 30 mins

Night time : 14 hrs of 500w

Take into account above scenario is off grid as there hasn't been electricity for 4 days

Ultimately depends on how much he pays for electricity. Especially if he's not metered and pays a flat rate.

I don't think you have an issue. Your PVs will only supply the amount of power you actually need, so as long as your batteries are fully charged and your loads are carried, not sure why you'd need more production.

If you want to check your actual peak production in the afternoon, put on heavy load of around that 4kw and see how much your PVs can bring in.

Absolutely fine. You use about 12kwh per day. Your panels produces @13.5kwh daily. The battery gets full by 12 noon thereby. So, what else do you wish for? You cannot fill a full bucket, just an empty one. Your battery picks up the load around 6pm and carries you overnight.

It's like we are just birds of the same feather ooo.

I just dey spend on top this solar matter and I never had any reason to get sleepless nights over any doubts about it.

I can imagine how odd my neighbors will be feeling that everywhere is in darkness and I'm fully powered and even using AC on top of that.

It pains me more to think that the National Grid they are shutting down is even happening after some people have loaded their prepaid meters. So it means that even after subscribing, you are still not assured of service provision. They already have your money, they have even spent it and then they turn around to flip the switch on you on the disguise of Grid Collapse, Strike and etc.

Liberate yourselves people. That's the way to go.

Only works thru mains(bypass) Please an one with any experience on this?? I cant find any fuse, is it hidden somwhere??

gotta replace that mains input breaker(2pole) . It's got a current rating....... I'll advice something like this..... The control PCB needs to be replaced.
