I had the same issue with my tooth I used all sort of stuffs(medical and herbal) bt there was no changes until I used salt when I was told to use salt I had my doubt bt it actually worked the pain was gone by after some days I might be eating and would just chew on something that looks like stone bt if I shld spit it out it's part of the tooth...until it removed itself u can also try the salt....(P.S) It worked for me no mean say e go work for u ooo just saying

Root canal treatment, depends on how deep the hole is. I did mine at navy hospital in dockyard. V.I Lagos.
They would first do an xray, to see if the infection has gotten too deep, then would them take out all the decayed and infected tissues, put some medicine in it and cover it up for about 2 weeks, some leave if for months, to cure and kill the infection....then you go back and take it all out, the hole is then filled with medicine again, and covered up and permanently filled . Suprising it wasn't painful or expensive....did mine over 2 years and have no issues. I think it's a factor of if the infection has gotten to the nerves or spread too far, that determines if root canal can be done. My girlfriend had 2 if her tooth removed same period in a government hospital in ibadan, and till now I don't understand why.

This is true. @Lutherblaq, please let him undergo Root Canal Therapy ASAP. I also started mine two weeks ago and completed it last week Saturday.

The infected pulp will be removed, weekly treatment will be administered for two weeks, drugs will also be given. Then on the 3rd week, if thoroughly healed, it will be filled, depending on the choice and strength of filling that you want.

Though it was quite painful o.

The whole thing with registration, X-ray, Scaling and Polishing of my teeth cost me about 80k. It's totally worth it o. Though with crowning it will shoot up significantly. Though I also plan to do that after the coming festivities.

Other people might simply go for extraction which is cheaper. But I love my tooth, plus the funds, was available.

Let me tell you what a Dentist will do

A dentist will ask you to sit on a chair, fall your head backwards and open your mouth wide.

He would go on to inject you with lidocaine using a big needle and syringe.

Finally, he will use 'plier' to drag that tooth out and if it's too hard, he'll turn it back and forth like the gear of a vehicle

And then clean you up afterwards.


I had stitches after the extraction because I was bleeding non stop.

Same thing with me. I had similar problem and God knows it hurts like hell. i almost removed it but i was discouraged that years later it will likely move to another tooth.

First i killed the worms and stopped the decay with salt and very hot water directly to the spot using a pipe the after i use fresh garlic mixed with turmeric. chew it or grind it and place it on the spot for like 3 days just like this guy said. The pain went away miraculously. Now i chew with it perfectly without pain. I just make sure i clean that particular spot thoroughly especially before bed.

Will I call it ignorance or is it the money involved to see an oral surgeon to get the tooth extracted that is the problem?

In the past, extraction was the only answer. Today, thete are options. Get a dentist to look at it. They may have to fill it up after treating it to deal with the microorganisms digging the well of pains there.

Do not do root canal, extract the tooth. Further for those of you who already have a root canal, better go for CT Scan check up, to ensure your Jaws and facial bones are not rotting internally.

For the interim, use diluted hydrogen peroxide to rinse the hole in the teeth after brushing. Avoid cold drinks and sugary drinks until maybe u see a dentist

As a dentist I don't encourage extraction rather treating the infection and waiting for it to fall off on its own. The pain from extraction can sometimes not respond to drugs and can get fatal in few cases. So i always advice treatment. By the ways be selective on the choice of toothpaste to reduce sinus infection!
