The long and short of this story is that they are Jehovah's Witnesses who didn't want blood transfusion and some other medical procedures in their fancy bucket list of doctrines.
They only concede in panic after the situation has degenerated, then turn around to blame the hospital.
Where I did my IT back then, we lost a colleague after her family initially rejected blood transfusion when she had an accident. By the time they agreed, her situation had gotten too bad and she died.

Only if you know what risk in involved in blood transfusion. I will always avoid blood transfusion because most times the hospitals we have in Nigeria don't have the capacity to detect the component(s) of blood that is needed by a patient, so they will just give the patient the whole blood including plasma, platelets, white and red blood, which is dangerous. At many occasions the blood of the patient don't even match with the new blood.

May God help him out of this, cos the Marcus I know is extremely competent to a fault.

Management of prelabour and labour stage was definitely subpar... The hospital may be at fault, but it's almost similar in all other health care facilities in Nigeria if not worse.

Induction wasn't the best option in this case, oxytocin infusion was too long predisposing to a ruptured uterus from hyper stimulation.

A lot of steps and protocols were overlooked probably because she wasn't a Primi but that's isn't an excuse.

It pains me as an obstetrician and gynecologist hearing or seeing maternal mortality. The pain is great, and I follow standard protocols to reduce it to its barest minimum.

It's sad oh. I still remember the day one OnG lecturer compared MMR in Nigeria to 10 jumbo jet crashes every day.

When the water breaks and she's not contracting, she should have been sectioned, not induced. A baby in the womb without water is already stressed

You may be wrong aand right as well. The first thing to do when a woman ruptures membrane is to induce. Most women will deliver within few hours under close monitoring.

You may be right in the sense that the baby's weight is 3.9kg and c section wasn't done. But she isn't a primi and some doctors will still give a chnace considering shebis Jehovahs witness and the delivery option with less blood loss will be considered

From what i have gathered here, there is no solid team on ground at the hospital. And probably they didn't give the consultant the right info on time.

And i am wondering why a hysterectomy wasnt done quickly..but then, he is a consultant. U cant really tell what went wrong

I know for sure that C-S is very normal and common among JW...What other options are you talking about? Don't you see a lack of care from Jolad in that explanation or are you just unfortunate? We only saw where he agreed with a CS, so why should we work with your own assumption of him changing mouth later?

You are the killer of your wife and kid going by the above excuse of your religious beliefs. Why are you a nurse in the first instance if Jehovah witness forbids you some health cure practices in hospitals?

Myself and my wife use the same hospital and we had a set of twin 8th of December last year. I must confess that the same set of doctors mentioned in this narrative are the same doctors that did their best to making sure that everything went well during our twin delivery. It could have another story entirely but these doctors didn't waste time all as we have already concluded on CS from day 1. We were in the hospital about 2 or 3 days after this incident and what we heard was completely different from his narrative. May God give you the fortitude to bear the losses....sometimes religious beliefs could deadly in this kind of situation. My first comment on NL.

Exactly what came to my mind when I was reading.
The only problem here is dealing with someone like him. Even his arguments will make d most knowledgeable of Consultant or medik look amateur because they will be playing by his rules. As detailed as he sounded, he need nobody to inform him to elect for CS earlier without going into excessively induced labour. Judging by d USS, the weight of the baby is enough and d history of d patient as per d experience in previous delivery should be enough to inform his decision for cs.
Unfortunately, his JW background played very annoying role here too.
I've had twice experience with JW and unfortunately both passed on though after I referred them when I wasn't any longer comfortable with their dictates and 'Jehovah said' quotes.
RIP to d dead but I wish d living learn.
Meanwhile my girl on d 3rd of March delivered via CS which we elected to.
I no get power for all these run around.
CS is d easiest option.
It's not Taboo.
Every woman deserve to deliver safely.

Unfortunate series of events,but what I find troubling and suspicio in his narrative of events is this:if your wife was not contracting after rupture of the membranes,what the hospital did was what any other standard facility would do,they started with cytotec,at the lowest dose recommended,repeated when there was still no noticeable contraction,then scaled up to oxytocin.
The one issue I found with the Hospital management is that they would have exhausted the full 4 dose regimen of cytorec before starting with oxytocin.
The problem with dealing with men like this that feel they know it all from what they read is that you must play everything by the book,if not they would use one issue as being the cause of a mishap.
All these things he mentioned, paediatrician being present,physician,using infusion pump,pantograph,CTG monitor,etc,even in advanced countries they are not as it's made out to be where all these personnel and instruments would be available.
I bet if he had been told from the onset that his wife needed to be sectioned,he would have blatantly refused and told them to exhaust every other means.
But here he is finding fault with every step taken.
It's sad he has lost both wife and child,but finding fault with every step is just ridiculous.
His wife came by 11am with no issues,was he expecting the consultant to be on ground monitoring an expected uneventful labour?
Let the hospital say it's own side of the story.
Mishaps happen all over the world and there is no where every case is done by the book.
It's sad and may God granted him the fortitude to bear the loss.

Recently Jehovah witness and their plenty drama was discussed here. This man literarily murdered his wife and son cos if the hospital had offered CS delivery ab initio when the labour was getting difficult he wod hav refused since u can't conduct such type of emergency CS without blood transfusion. Sorry for ur loss Oga, I doubt if u hav a case sha cos ur telling Dr what you want and not want due to your religious inclinations caused all of this. You even made hospital sign legal documents for strict compliance. This same man crying awoof would have sued them if they did everythg medically possible to save that woman oweing to the loss of blood and size of baby. Their hands were literally tied due to ur plenty conditions so u for just carry your wife go Jehovah witness church or hospital go born if he sure for u. Sad thing is one yr max this yeye man will replace the wife.

The simple truth is that his Jehovah witness inclinations to no blood transfusion is the sole reason why the mother and child died carelessly.
The doctor wanted to do a CS, but because you have deposed a durable power of attorney to the effect of no blood transfusion the doctor couldn't do much.
It is important that we allow attendant medical professionals do what they think best irrespective of our knowledge of the profession.
The best thing would have been for the husband to take his pregnant wife to a Jehovah witness doctor who would have known what to do differently. Otherwise you put religion aside and allow proper medical procedures to be done.
This sad and painful episode is clearly avoidable.

When my wife witnessed what women go through during labor, she vowed that all our babies are going to be through CS and I don't give a 4uck about it. CS is the safest for me though. I can't withstand seeing her go through pain of labor.

Had similar experience too in ilorin when one afa was very sick 🤢 and instead of then to goto the hospital for treatment they said that they are TEBLIC i.e those Muslims that believes only in water that will be written on a small chalkboard and wash it to drink for Devine health from heaven through their prophet Muhammad.. 😊..
