For the past 1 year Americans have been busy flying in to wajir airbase that is currently undergoing some sort of expansion .we have also seen some High profile visits by the CIA director and Some high ranking military officers.
Texel Air Cargo 737-7K2(FC) A9C-SJW #8940B4 as XLR881 out of Bahrain, seen over Ethiopa at 0845z. Likely en route once again to Wajir Airbase, Kenya.
Allegedly the long postponed proposal of launching drone strikes from Kenyan territory is back . Does Kenya stand to gain from this?
At a strategic level i would say yes, The mere presence of MQ 9 reapers will act as a deterrence to regional threats.

This EPAIL are not joking at all, PROFORCE has to be on top of their game.

I'll love to see some serious competitions between these two in terms of hardware products and military innovations.

It would be nice to have an ecosystem of defence manufacturers.

However we're seeing decent progress.

The AW109 is a very good LUH and there's significant infrastructure in the country to maintain and operate them.

Again with the war in Ukraine, where do we buy MI-27s from?

I agree but we still need more medium lift platforms as more theatre of operations are opening up across the country.

Speaking of war, Mali got Mi- 8 during this period.
We can revitalise our puma or go for the American CH -53 stallion since we are purchasing American hardwares after all.

There have been reports that kenya is seeking funding to acquire a New Advanced Air Defense System, specifically SPYDER from Israel. This will be a major addition to our inventory if the acquisition goes as planned .

For the longest time kenya have been using a mixture of radars installed at various FOBs plus some old mistral and Hawk Rocket Systems complimented with several manpad systems and anti aircraft guns

Back in 2011, when Uganda acquired the SU-30 fighter jets, there were calls for Kenya to respond by acquiring a powerful air defense system or advanced fighter aircraft to maintain regional balance. However, military strategists didn't prioritize such capabilities.Kenya might have judged the likelihood of conflict to be low enough that acquiring matching capabilities Wasn't necessary, which might suggest the plan is always to address situations before they reach the level of needing fighter jets.

I love the growth of Nigerian defence industry

It's a little slow, but progressing

My biggest love for all these, is that it's mostly private driven, if it was Govt, they might turn it to a way to siphon money

Hahaha, the new team with a fully local technical bench has shown good consistency so far in the sense that the matches that we lost in the challenger series, we didn't loose because of rookie mistakes that the opposition was able to take advantage of unlike in the past.
The boys were calm and composed which allowed us to come from behind to win multiple times--- the fans helped a lot too!
Former top scorer player, Injera has advised the current bench to start working on the quality our second tier teams so that we always have good talent to pull from.

Basically, this time round, we are building our rugby from the ground up and the way this new young team was selected must be replicateble even with different technical bench in the future.
Also, I think Kenya must deliberately expand the game at schools level, beyond a few elite schools.

Its not as common but it does exists in some parts of the country, what is missing in those less known schools is professional coaching team who conform to global standards through the national union. Same way football coaches, referees and technical bench all follow FIFA training and rules through the federation.

In other news, did you see that Ramaphosa and the AU chair will be joined at the G7 Summit by Algeria and Kenya?
Ruto has done a phenomenal job positioning Kenya.
