He's physically strong and good with one-touch football.
Is he the ideal no 10??
Only time will tell...

I have a feeling that Finidi might start Onuachu against Benin just to spite his critics, based on his post match rants

Lol I'm betting money on that grin, and I believe his reasoning won't be to spite people it'll be that he thinks he's the best striker we have available

He's ever so calm like Courtois and Neuer. He's never flustered
Everything he did yesterday screamed confidence.

To be honest, that SA keeper too is top class. If we didn't have Nwabali, I'll be jealous of them.

These are the qualities of strikers and wingers, does he have the ability to create for others, if not let's put him in the position to utilize his physical abilities

A good thing to take away is that the players have understanding of how Finidi wants them to play. They just need to maintain the tempo then improve on how they played that second half, then let’s hope we get all the points left. just a few changes in the playing personnel, we are good to go.

In the future I would like to see Elijah and Akpom added to the fray. Cant wait for the return of Zaidu, Ekong and Ola Aina. Ogbu and Ndah should get a look in. Taminu for me is not good at advancing play. Doesn’t suit the style we want to play. Could be a back up though when we want to switch gears.. Iheanacho should sort out his club issues and stay off for now. Isaac Success maybe should get a look in.

Our second half display was reminded me of the super eagles I watched in 2000. My first AFCON. We were full attacking. It was beautiful to see Finidi play that in the second half. I hope we can build on that going forward.
im telling you meehn… the high pressing and the one-two on the run was mad meehn at the second half..SA come dey look for counter attack

Onuachu had a good game for someone without service. If he had missed opportunities like the one Moffi did I would understand the complaints

Thank you!
I was wondering if it's the same game I watched

What would you say about the tame header?

However I agree with you. For Onuachu to thrive the wings must be well oiled for low crosses/cutbacks. The right wing had Iheanacho and Tanimu, square pegs in round holes.

Finally someone gets it

I see no reason why we can’t beat SA away.
Games with bad pitches are the most tricky.

charlesemeka85:
if we can beat Benin,Zimbabwe home and away and beat Lesotho away then get a draw against SA we are good to go

BankyGee:
No matter how anybody wants to turn and twist any English or huffs and puffs grammar, Victor Osimhen is the lifeline of our Super Eagles team.
There are other good strikers, but how many of them are performing exceptionally in his absence. He's still the only world-class number 9 that we have whether you like it or not.

Three world cup qualifiers without Osimhen, 1 all draws, we lost the first half in all of them;
First game 🆚 Lesotho a defender equalized - Ajayi 67'
Second game 🆚 Zimbabwe a striker equalized - Iheanacho 67'
Third game 🆚 South Africa a midfielder equalized - Bashiru 47'

Only one striker scored in three games!
That tame header that Onuachu gifted Williams, Osimhen's headers goes almost with the same force as his legs! I remember that Angola game, where the keeper pointed the ball but it still forced its way into the net, a header!

Even if he doesn't score, he must pave the way for others to score. I think since he became our top 9, the Super Eagles have only lost two games he played in (I stand to be corrected)
0–1 🆚 Guinea-Bissau (2023)
2–1 🆚 Ivory Coast (2024)
That guy's mentality alone can start while he sits on the bench.

Over all;
Our team is good, Finidi George is still under scrutiny, we will still qualify for the World Cup (95%)
With a Victor in the game yesterday we’ll get a penalty or two. Dude brings something into that attack others can’t which is ‘fear and dread’ the other strikers do not frighten defenders at all

I will prefer playing Fisayo frm the flanks than lazy iheanacho

Iheanacho couldn’t complete a 1 dribble yesterday. All he did was to stand, get a pass and look for the nearest man to pass it to

Correct

Finidi just needs to get it right with his selections. We no longer have a midfield problem.

Kelechi has club issues to sort out. Also he’s not had club games in a while. I don’t blame him, You can’t expect him to give at this moment. I blame Finidi for selecting him.

Bruno Onyemachi/left back, Ismaila/right back, but finidi in his infinite wisdom decided to try tanimu and osayi in righback and left back respectively. Joebie come and explain because you are his supporter
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2023, 2025 And 2026 World Cup by Joebie: 3:03pm On Jun 08
Williams is a very sharp keeper. You don’t do that around him if you are not Okocha.

Mujtahida:

During the AFCON, one of our attackers I think it was Lookman tried the same thing with William, he nipped the ball off him. Moffi tried the same thing. By now they should know that the GK is good with such one on one situations.

You want NFF to provide VAR , should NFF also provide match balls and officials ?

Let me remind you, when NRG played against GHA 2022 WCQ, the VAR was provided by Ghana FA and after the match Amugo pickdig said at the post match that NRG will also provide VAR for d return leg.

It was part of the logistics by the hosting FA which NFF failed to do.

That's just it boss. Look at what Moffi missed, at least release a shot from that position even if you can't lob the keeper, if he saves it fine, we'll know you tried. SMH.

You see Nwabali and Williams bah? Dem just be like Flash and Reverse Flash 😂

Nobody good pass the other, they're both top class goalies. In the AFCON, Ronwen Williams conceded from a penalty, Nwabali conceded from a penalty too. He made top saves, Nwabali made top saves too.

Yesterday, We conceded a sweet defence splitting goal, Baba Williams conceded the same goal.

What if Nwabali na the CEO of Fearless drinks, but he just dey disguise as footballer? 🤔

Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaifi and his directors have been in direct with Napoli chief Aurelio De Laurentiis to discuss a deal for Victor Osimhen.
