How many of them have the mind of God? They're there to loot. Gov Otti is exceptional in performance. As a Nigerian, I salute his bravery and act of kindness. Posterity will be kind to him. We can't say others too didn't have money like otti before they became governors but because on Nigeria, they see politics as business, they tend to amass more wealth.

You can only see both presidents and governors showing kindness to the masses anytime the election is near. That's wickedness.

Labour should face the governors and private sector employers

Why should there be a national minimum wage to be agreed by FG which is just a single employer to be paid by all the other employers?

Why should a worker in Zamfara or Uyo be paid the same minimum wage as a worker in Lagos or Abuja?

Why is NLC silent about the productivity of workers?

Go to where most of those workers are supposedly working and see how "busy" they are.

Let them just fix it at 80k and let's move on. All this forth and back will not help.

NLC is being played but they don't seem to understand.
The governors can effortlessly pay N60k/month but they are better negotiators than NLC leadership.

The governors have tactfully made N60k the center of negotiation pushing NLC away from anything above N100k.
Final final, the governors will fold for N60k and NLC will go home singing kumbaya thinking they won not knowing the game the
government run on them.

Amateurs!

"As for the veracity of their claim, nothing can be further from the truth as FAAC allocations have since moved from N700bn to N1.2tn, making the governments extremely rich at the expense of the people."

NLC and TUC keep shooting themselves in the leg with their arguments. If you know that FAAC allocations moved from N700bn to N1.2tn....that is not up to 100% increase.

Assume everything was shared by FGN, State and Local Government, using normal sharing formula...it means non as received 100% increase.

So, if they have decided to increase minimum wage by 100%, which is N30,000 to N60,000...won't they argue they have done well

NLC/TUC just have to be reasonable in their demand

And how is he supposed to flex his muscle against State governors.?

Go state by state for strike?

You people should stop talking nonsense.

If labour has the power to face 36 State governors then why can't the FG prevail on the governors to implement the Federal minimum wage?

It's not even as if the FG has offered anything reasonable.

FG still would never go beyond 70k.

So why have you guys shifted the fight to State governors?

Whenever you see anyone shifting this blame to state governors just know that the person is a Tinubu fan boy!
Re: Minimum Wage: Resign If You Can’t Pay, Labour Tackles Governors by blowjohn(m): 6:26am On Jun 09
Ask uself this question: which state has progressed infracstructurally in the last 30 years in this country? Out of the 36 states, which one can be compared to Abuja in terms of beauty?

If ur answer is 'non', why is it so?

30 years, no state to write something positive about!

Blame the state governors!!

Simple, resign if you can't pay. There are others who can take these positions and generate enough revenue for the states to get such financial structures on. But you won't let them in

Resign if you can't manage what we give you
Re: Minimum Wage: Resign If You Can’t Pay, Labour Tackles Governors by Kanixt(m): 7:30am On Jun 09
Energist:
That won't still solve the problem. Let there be a fair model for calculating minimum wages based on the economic realities of the various states. For example, South-South states should have a higher minimum compared to other states except perhaps Lagos. In the north where the cost of living is relatively lower, the minimum wage should follow suit except if the state generates enough IGR to afford a higher figure. All in all, make sure you get a good side hustle if you're a civil servant especially working with the state government.

You are saying nothing. The problem here is much you think should be the amount to be paid as a minimum wage going state by state as you stated above

So state workers are forbid to have a good pay ?

But the governors and their family members live a luxury lifestyle of their time while people generating the money should receive peanuts against the hardship in the country?
Re: Minimum Wage: Resign If You Can’t Pay, Labour Tackles Governors by jowhyte(m): 8:02am On Jun 09
Dey play! Someone that has already started paying the 70k and the first to pay 40k. You guys are envious that it’s not coming from one of your own.

Why would him want to chase clout like this is not is last 2 tenures.

Go and see how he has redefined governance in the state. Even association of pensioners has awarded him the best, Labour, TUC etc has awarded him the best, international bodies has awarded him the best in education restructuring that even other countries and are even trying to copy his template.

A highly trained and retrained workforce at all levels. Go and see his reforms in civil and public service workforce.

Salaries and pension are paid promptly 27/28th every month with a minimum wage of now 70k. Recall he was the first to increase from 18k to 30k then to 40k and now to 70k all from since 2019 to 2024 even while many states governors are still struggling bro pay the 18k minimum wage yet Obaseki has performed poorly as many uninformed would want u to believe.

First state to go paperless in Nigeria, first state to have the whole local government connected to optic fibre. First state to have top notch first layer data centre digitally powering government critical infrastructure , Lagos with all monies and federal economic presence has third layer.

Go and see what he did at EdoCreation HUB at ICE Benin city where the state is constantly churning out tech/IT talent for export.

No government in Edo state has created a better business and company siting enablement environment as Obaseki

He improved government process and systems and gradually transitioned into running lean government to free resource for critical sectors.

Even the roads he is being constantly criticized, he has done well and also head to toe with Oshiomole here although the quality of some are debatable.

These are just some of the few things I can point.

He shot himself on his own foot by saying he doesn’t need to waste tax payers money in funding projects commissioning and paparazzi. Those talk na for abroad not somewhere like Nigerian.

Governance is not all about tarring roads and construction gigantic bridges only. There are has to be a balance even with low/dwindling resources.

Some uninformed are trying to make it seems like he had performed poorly and trying to use palace propaganda to allow a very weak candidate to take over Edo just like they did to Nigeria in 2015 using the mantra of change.

Today the masses are groaning and wailing of unprecedented hardship. Trying to remind them, they shouldn’t have attempted to fix what was never broken, they will call you wailer. Who is wailing today now?

Widespread illiteracy among half baked governors being selected today is why Nigeria is where it’s.
