Yes they are humans, but the moments you agree to take the responsibility you are no longer a regular human, you desire and taste should sincerely align differently

Someone was trying to justify that preparation for the party has long been in motion before the Wigwe's demise and lots if money was already spent.
But why invite flavor? As a senior pastor why flavor? Wetin do Dunsin, frank, tope alabi Or even Sunny Ade?
It was just a show of gross insensitivity
same thing I told someone on dis platform... He said nothing is wrong with it.... They want to have a separate life outside of what they preach on the alter.... It's not possible

The UBA and FIDELITY bank directors, didn't they know that Wigwe died too? Did Access bank stop working for even a second because Wigwe died? Did the Wigwe family members starve or shut their companies because of the crash?

Definitely proves that these ones were called to enrich their pockets . The wife looks like someone he cannot control or lead . It shows that some churches nowadays are only after your money . If you lack means or die , them no send your papa or family again . A church member died in my church last week in a keke , my pastor was so distraught during service you would think she is his biological daughter .

The only regret this pastor has is that he didn’t start his own ministry early enough so he wouldn’t lose such a juicy church . Pretty sure he will soon start his and a lot of gullible people will follow him . Just wait and see

THIS IS THE QUESTION I WANTED TO ASK. HOW CAN THE DEATH OF SOMEBODY AFFECTS THE PLAN OF ANOTHER PERSON. THAT MEANS IN THE RCCG, CLASS MATTERS. I PITY THE FINANCIALLY POOR MEMBERS OF THE CHURCH WHOSE DEATH WON'T BE NOTICED.

If three of your immediate family dies today, i am sure celebrating your birthday next week won’t be your top agenda to the extent you want to go all out on it.

The Pastor’s wife was a foolish woman (“was” by now i hope she is wiser and has let go of her vanity), though it doesn’t seem so as her husband has resigned from “his place”. Behind the fall of every man…..

But i still subscribe to your perspective, the problem is that the Pastor and his household did not see church members as part of their immediate family undecided

Iluyomade was until last week, the pastor of the hugely 'successful branch'

I don't understand that part, 'successful branch'

How do u describe a church as being successful?

Is it in soul winning or number of attendees or what?

I think it's s wrong way to describe a church.
Makes it look like a business.
oga please take your time to read through the preponderance of the opinions of everyone that has contributed to the topic thread today and it's that these so called churches are nothing but business centres while the pastors are largely lining their pockets, gaming the religion and living lavishly which is a complete opposite of the spiritual filled and austere life Jesus Christ lived, Good Christians need to urgently save the Christendom especially in Nigeria from its imminent collapse

Christianity and her Pastors are very funny.

God calls a Pastor in a ministry and the Pastor is attached to a church. Pastor faces disciplinary actions and then resigns God's calling. How are we certain God called these Pastors before?

Baba nobody call anyone...this is church business.i say it louder....RCCG is a business wit many branches

In the pastor's mind the Wigwes didn't have enough anointing, or they were not just having enough grace like him and his beautiful 60yr old wife, otherwise they shouldn't have perished like that. That's why they had no empathy to feel for the Wigwes. The moment you meet anyone that thinks they have a special sort of grace on their head, remind the dullard that they will never have half the grace of Myles Munroe and yet he perished like the Wigwes. The worst foooolishness is self delusion

In Everything a man will be doing in this life, He must be very sensitive enough never grant all the wishes of the woman or women in his life. One thing we all fail to realize is that Pastor Iluyomade's wife pushed him into all these problems. The problem would have been evaded if the birthday was done on a low-key. Another I'm sure catalysed the whole saga is Flavor ( hip-hop artist ) that was the guest minister instead of the likes of Dunsin Oyekan 😆😆😆.

You people should stop blaming Flavour he's not the cause of this man's problem after all the party was not held in the church auditorium but at Eko Hotel

Well the church leadership is not angry with him because he invited Flavour to his wife's birthday bash, the main reason they are angry with him is the timing and flamboyance of the birthday party considering the fact that a major financial pillar of the church died in an accident less than a month before the party.

That party was very insensitive and disrespectful considering that almost the entire family of a very important parishioner was wiped out in one fell swoop!
so the pastor shouldn't live his life again.. did access bank stood still after Wigwe death?? What's insensitive about an event that was already planned... It's quite distasteful how pastor iluyomade has been made a scapegoat for nothing...

Your argument holds no water unless you are implying churches are businesses . The bank is an emotionless entity on its own . People’s lives and means are tied to its daily operations . So it would be stupid and dangerous to close shop . Pretty sure they did a moment of silence across all branches and provided emotional support for staff affected by his passing .

The other bank directors might not have any direct relationship with the wigwes. They were only invited for a birthday party which they honoured .

But you see when you are a spiritual father and a prominent son with HIS family dies , you get rattled . Even Jesus wept after his friend died . You DON’T throw a party shortly after his demise . It is grossly inappropriate!

She could have made it a very private affair if resources were already allocated for it . Toned it down a lot .

True. we are just flesh and bones . But we are also governed by social norms and etiquettes .

It was too insensitive and stupiid for the pastor and his wife to throw such birthday party few days after the tragic loss of a top member of the church and his family. All they needed to do was postpone the event till perhaps after Wigwe, 's burial but they chose the other way. It sent a message to other members of the church, this is how they will treat you if it happens to you.

I know ID ...he is so proud of himself, he is a GO of himself in that particular church ....perhaps he is coming back to send RCCG away from that big Edifice.....he is a lawyer he can decide to institute a law suite against RCCG. but whatever contrary efforts he is making against the RCCG God will turn it to foolishness....
RCCG brought him to.lightlime. And he should also be read to serve in a remote area.....

Gospel work is not only about Ikoyi, VI ...and other fine places ....there are many pastor colleagues in the bush area and villages....even Jesus went to Bethsida to preach ....this is a remote area where low income people stay in Israel ....

ID must be able to be flexible and adaptable to all terrain if truly he is serving God ...and not for personal gain

why didn't your daddy G.O go to villages to preach or even Afghanistan. Do you know how Rome became a Vatican city today? Because the apostles and others laid down their lives

It's either he is going to start his own church as the G.O or he will contest the ownership of the city of David building with the RCCG. If he wins then it will equally be like a continuation of a new start.

Envy you said?
I am surprised.
Is there something you know that we are not aware of?

This is someone whose display of foolishness and lack of empathy and gross insensitivity through the conduct of the wife's 60th birthday lavishly celebrated barely less than a week after the demise of the church's topmost financier was seen and condemned by well meaning individuals.

Is that how you will manage your own church if you ever have one, if as a General Overseer, one of your pastors permits a secular musician like Flavor nabania to perform at his wife's birthday.

What exactly is the lesson they are teaching others, these are supposed models in the Christiandom.

Please What happened to gospel musician like Nathaniel Bassey who is also a pastor, Moses bliss, Mercy Chinwo , Laolu Gbenjo (if at all you want that groovy touch) and many other very good Gospel musicians.

Now, he was transferred away from City of David to the base of the missions headquarters parish.

You really called this envy?

You guys will not cease to amaze me.

Truly, judgement will start from the church.
This pastor has been in that parish far too long, I bet he now sees himself as the mini GO. The church is massive and stupendously wealthy, and he has rich friends. So na to float him own now...if he is too big to be disciplined, then he should move on.
One of the biggest challenges of Christianity today is wanting to be Mega in everything. That simplicity and somberness is no longer there.

Wigwe is not his parent and there is nothing wrong with the timing of the event. What it shows is that the families were not close friends. Also if the Wigwes were not rich, would you have an issue? As a pastor, I would postpone my celebrations if any member of my church dies. However if someone less famous had died in the past and no one batted an eyelid, it would be hypocritical of them to postpone it. It is GOD that gives the power to make wealth.

The issue I have with the pastor is the unnecessary behaviours he and his wife has shown in that role. They have forgotten their position and duties and allowed the fame to go to their head. To invite Flavour as a senior member of redeemed was a bad example of proper behaviour especially when you contrast the wife with most RCCG pastors' wives. Then again I have my own thoughts on spouses of church people being given a role based on their copulation.

Wigwe wasn't just an affluent member of that church...He almost singlehandedly financed that project!! ..Gave out non interest loans (running into billions) for that edifice!!

Separate topic. I see this comment increasingly being pushed around that GOD uses men and people tend to mean in all things he uses men. For me that is a dangerous comment, limiting GOD. When Paul and Silas were freed, did he use man to free them? When the ram was provided for Abraham and Isaac, did he use man? GOD may use man at times to accomplish works and support people but he can take a direct hand via angels or other beings.
