The music duo Psquare is at war again and this time, the problems tearing them apart looks like it will be more serious than what broke them up before.

Insiders allege that the brouhaha started when one of the Twins, Peter was approached by a company that wanted to buy Psquare music catelogue comprising all their works over the years.

The buyers allegedly gave a condition stating that the brothers had to show the (back-end), statement of account of royalties received over the years to enable them peg a price to what woud be paid for the catelogue.

Sources say nah there wahala start! They say that Peter approached Jude and his twin Paul and told them what was proposed but after weeks of waiting for statement of account, it dawned on Peter that all was not well and sources say he began to investigate what was wrong.

Northside entertainment is the company Registered by Peter and Paul but their brother Jude made himself the only signatory to the account. A can of worms opened on all fronts and Peter allegedly discovered that Northside music ' account had been diverting funds to a new company called Northside music which had Jude's wife Ifeoma as a director with her family address used for registration.

The money in contention are Royalties due to the Singers from 2007 till date and running into millions of dollars. Insiders squeal that the Economic crimes and financial commission (EFCC) is involved in the matter and Jude has allegedly officially agreed to fund diversion and all his accounts both in Nigeria and internationally have been frozen until further notice....

Paul in trying to take sides with Jude indicted himself as an accomplice who shares the money that was diverted with Jude. The insider squealed that all Royalties have been shared by Jude and Paul, leaving Peter out of the sharing formular....

They were spotted at the EFCC office on Thursday June 6, 2024 and the atmospehre was hot with the brothers telling each other to do their worst. Jude was in EFCC Detention until his last birthday when former NFF President Pinnick signed his bail bond so he could celebrate his birthday with his family at home........

Here we go again...

But I don't really believe this story.

Why will Peter want to sell their catalogs? And if Jude and Paul knew they was something fishy going on they would simply have refused to sell or sign the release of the catalog.

I don't know the arrangements between them but the catalog shouldn't be the sole property of anyone of them.

Refusing to sign would have prevented Peter from digging deeper.

If this really happened then is really quite sad.

The extent people can go for money.

Shake my head!

America Musicians are selling their catalogs left and right example is Justin Bieber he sold his for $200m, it's not a bad idea , imagine all the money you will earn in 30 years time from royalty handed right instantly for you instead of waiting for years, unless you are a wasteful person you will put that money to good use.

And he can make x5 of that in a single year, in times to come, just one reminiscing on past event can cause fans to go stream his songs all over again and can earn him that, look at usher for example after performing at the Super Bowl for almost free, his music catalogue skyrocketed he made over 100m in a week after that performance people started streaming his old songs again, now imagine he don sell it off for 150m then, that money he made now would have been someone else’s and he would have regretted

Those wey sold there own are dumb and dey always sold it a time they are broke and need a block of cash, look at Rihanna for example she made the mistake once and made sure she bought it back including all her masters, na she sabi the amount she is making on it now, look at the weekend he hasn’t dropped a song in 7yrs and for 5yrs now he has been the only artist with over 100m monthly listeners, u know how much that has been for him, now imagine he don sell his catalogs he will want to die right now

Yes it’s not a new thing but we both will agree is a bad investment idea that only favors the buyer at the long run

you don't understand how music industry works that's why you see it as bad idea,it's actually a win-win situation.

Sony for example are buying up Musicians catalogs like dividend stocks, they aren't going to yield immediate profit in short term ,but long term they're going to profit from it.

As for the musician like I said you get your bags instantly, you can still perform the songs but you can't earn royalties from it on streaming platforms it belongs to the buyer now,if you still no get them I can't help you.

Masters are originals of a body of work in this case music, they are mainly owned by the artists record label, as in people wey sign the artist giving them the chance to always profit from all the songs he did when signed under them for years to come as long as the said music is getting streaming or been used in a project they will get there percentages for life, if an artist blow up himself then he owns his own masters without sharing anything with anybody both now and in the future unless he decides to sell, while catalog is mainly the life of the artist all the songs he/she created from the start of his/she career till present moments including songs he/she was featured in, that what catalog is
