Havana, Cuba CNN— A group of Russian naval ships, including a nuclear-powered submarine, will visit Cuba next week as part of “historically friendly relations,” Cuba’s government said Thursday

The Russian “frigate Gorshkov, the nuclear-powered submarine Kazan, the fleet oil tanker Pashin, and the rescue tug Nikolai Chiker” will visit the port of Havana between June 12 and 17, according to the Cuban Revolutionary Armed Forces in a statement published by the Foreign Ministry.

Cuba says none of the ships carry nuclear weapons and insists their stopover does not represent a threat to the region.

“Visits by naval units from other countries are a historical practice of the revolutionary government with nations that maintain relations of friendship and collaboration,” the statement added.

Last July, the Russian Navy’s training class ship Perekop sailed into Havana for a four-day visit.

The latest visit appears to be the largest of its kind in years.

Cuba is increasingly reliant on Russian oil and aid as the communist-run country weathers its worst economic crisis in decades.

Cuba’s announcement comes days after US President Joe Biden gave Ukraine permission to carry out limited strikes inside Russian territory with American munitions. In response, Russian President Vladimir Putin said Western countries “supplying weapons to a conflict zone is always a bad thing.”

“Visits by naval units from other countries are a historical practice of the revolutionary government with nations that maintain relations of friendship and collaboration,” the statement added.

Moscow has not confirmed the information provided by Cuba. CNN has reached out to the Russian government for comment.

It’s not the first time Russian Navy ships have been sent to Cuba, a key ally to the former Soviet Union during the Cold War that briefly hosted nuclear missiles at Moscow’s behest during the 1962 Cuban Missile Crisis.

Last July, the Russian Navy’s training class ship Perekop sailed into Havana for a four-day visit.

The latest visit appears to be the largest of its kind in years.

“In the end, if we see that these countries become involved in a war against us, what they are doing makes them directly involved in a war against the Russian Federation, we reserve the right to act the same way,” Putin said on Wednesday.

Putin added that as a response, “we will improve our air defense systems to destroy the missiles.” He also asked why Russia would “not have the right to supply our weapons of the same class to those regions of the world where there will be strikes on the sensitive facilities of those countries that are doing this against Russia?”

‘No direct threat’

Russia’s military is expected to increase its naval and air activity near the United States this summer as part of routine maneuvers in the lead up to a global naval exercise in the fall, according to the US State Department and the Pentagon.

Alongside Russian ships this summer will also be one of the Russian Navy’s Severodvinsk II-class submarines, Dietz said. The port call for that submarine was approved “at least in part due to Havana’s displeasure” over the visit of a US nuclear submarine to the US’ Guantanamo Bay Naval Base in Cuba last year, he said.

Cuba has hosted Russian ships every year between 2013 and 2020, Dietz said, adding that the exercises “impose a significant cost on the Russian Navy, which faces challenges in maintaining readiness and conducting deployments with an aging fleet.

Given Russia’s long history of Cuban port calls, these are considered routine naval visits, especially in the context of increased US support to Ukraine and NATO exercises,” Dietz said.

They are joking . No nation in their right minds thinks of a full scale war with America. Every nation in the world desperately tries to openly show their military strength but America desperately tries to downplay theirs. One thing about US they never follow the direction the whole world is following; when the world was doing left hand drive they went right hand, when the world was doing parliamentary they went presidential and ironically after some time the world starts following the same because America is like a show piece of the world that everybody is watching. Everybody knows American presidents, politicians and entertainers but more than half of Americans do not even know where west Africa is or the president of any European country except late queen Elizabeth. Most countries in the world believe in showcasing their best military weapons to inspire fear while America even though an open society downplays its military capability in extreme secrecy that any time American military tests any weapon for the world to see most military watchers know already they have outdated that technology many years before. US military used internet from WW2 and released it to the world in 1999 when it was no longer of use to them same way they released drones for everybody to use. During WW2 hitler subdued entire Europe with his commanders and men like Italian dictator Benito Mussolini , pacific and Asia even China through emperor Hirohito of Japan . America refused to join the war like they are doing now over Ukrainian issue. Hitler, Mussolini etc taunted them until the devil pushed Japan into bombing Pearl Harbor. America entered the war and during the bombardment of Omaha beach and normandy to gain access into Europe terrified German soldiers wrote that the kind of weapons Americans came with was something they never imagined in their existence would exist in the next 1000 years; then coupled with total destruction of Japanese biggest cities then of Hiroshima and Nagasaki which made emperor Hirohito to admit that after his god it’s Americans. They even came with thousands of fighter jets and bombers that turned German military bases into tornados of fire and armored tankers that run on water and were detonating explosives at the beach. The battle lasted 48 hours and the lightening from the constant bombardments made the entire night look like broad daylight.It was rumored the shock drove hitler to go and commit suicide. More like hiding those ships in Cuba since the US has permitted Ukraine to strike inside Russia. Considering how many ships Russia has lost in Ukraine, a country without a navy, I'll say it is a wise move.

Another thing not really talked about is that Russia may already have nuclear weapons deployed in space. These will act as satellite killers to disable the early warning systems the west has. It was a significant threat enough that the US had to give classified briefings to its senators.

The chinese too are known to have deployed a weapons system in space that no one has yet to understand what it does.

However, the US also has the X-37b which it has kept flying above the stratosphere for 2 years now without landing. No one knows what the X-37b does. It has landed only twice in the past 5 years. It can be understood that the X-37b may also possess some form of classified military advantages to the US.

The signs aren't good. The nations of the world are preparing for war. China is undertaking a massive realignment and modernisation of its military, India has as well. The US ofcourse has a military budget bigger than the next 10 countries military budget combined! So no one knows what the US even has in stock. It is sending its outdated equipment to Ukraine. Outside its unknown weapons systems, the US remains the only country on earth that can deploy 48000 troops anywhere in the world in 24 hours.

The US is also the only country on earth that can fight and sustain two theatres of war at the same time - the pacific and the atlantic. No other country can do that.

The US airforce, navy and marines are the worlds largest 1st, 2nd and 3rd airforces. No other country comes close. The US exists for war. That country has been at war for 238 years out of its over 250 years of existence.

Russia was thought to be a near equal peer to the US. But years of corruption has hollowed out its armed forces. During the initial invasion of Ukraine, it was found that russian soldiers were selling fuel for their tanks to buy vodka and were getting high off fuel meant for fighter jets. Its flagship the Moskova failed a grave number of safety and serviceability tests. Monies meant for maintenance got eaten. The ship was so underpowered, its radar systems were shut off and Ukraine took advantage and sunk the ship. 400 men died.

On paper, Putin has an army. But in reality it is a shell. Corruption has affected it. Which is why he sacked his chief of defence and put an economist in that position.

Russia wants a ceasefire in Ukraine so that it can use that opportunity to rearm and restrategize. Putin will not leave Ukraine alone. He needs the US diverted and unfocused however. Which is why he has met with president Xi of china, Kim of north korea, representatives of the Iranian government and the leadership of Hamas.

China is positioning to attack Taiwan, North Korea is sending balloons filled with shit to South Korea to provoke a response and Iran, through hezbollah and hamas, is indirectly attacking Israel. Taiwan, South Korea and Israel are allies of the US with binding defense pacts. If they get attacked, the US must respond thus diverting attention from Ukraine.

I think Putin is the most strategic leader in the world right now. He is singularly determining global politics. It is unfortunate though that the Russian army is an embarrassment.
