Festac Town has lost its glory. Bad roads and shops everywhere. Almost all ground floor of block of flats have been converted to business centres. Duplexes are not left out in the madness. The last time Festac Town had a good serenity of environment was in the early 2000s.

I miss the town though cos I was born and bred there.

They just bought illegally from FHA and lawlessness started creeping into the facets of the once beautiful town, before we knew it, Agberos opened their base on 23 Road and gradually the decay became unstoppable. A one-bedroom flat on 22 Road would have 10 occupants living there and the crime rate would increase. At the end of the day, the original occupants let it rot. I heard some block of flats had working phone after it was allocated and water board was ran efficiently. When people try to circumvent the system, Festac Village is what you get.

Everything shouldn’t be about tribalism. FESTAC was built as an average income district, with lots of blocks of flats. It was never intended to be like Ikoyi, VI or Lekki. Its location is also at the fringes/suburbs close to poor neighborhoods. Yet, these pictures you posted or even worse ones are also common to places like Ikeja. It has nothing to do with the tribe. I don’t think Yorubas or Hausas would have created a better ambience if they’re the ones that dominate FESTAC, giving the factors I narrated earlier.

You've actually hit on a key point. Not sure if you realize it.

The absence of common space - sold and bought illegally - destroyed the sense of community and ownership. Common areas foster kinship and belonging. They either get shrunk to meaningless sizes or obliterated.

The few times I visit Lagos, I discovered I met more of Yoruba people when I went to the low-income areas with cheaper rent like Orile and MazaMaza. I met more Igbos around Ago Palace Way . This is just an honest observation

So you don't know that those places you are mentioning are where the indigens stays, more like their "villages" dating back to hundreds of years, including Lagos Island.

Festac Police seem to be getting worse, by the year. My last experience with them was more than 8 years since i left Festac. That one idiot who saw me with calculator and exam slip wanted to put me inside Korope that I looked like a yahoo boy lol. Bloody Nincompoop!

The whole Festac Police station has to be overhauled. Cuz there are two possible situations: (1) Their Boss is a terrible human being and his filth is running down the ladder (2) They have a good boss but the officers underneath him are too corrupt, in this case its just a matter of time before their boss is converted or disposed off somehow.

River used to travel to Benin near Festac? I am not sure. The only body of water around Festac that i know is the canal bridge near 1st gate and the at the back of 4th avenue.
