The light situation in festac is so terrible ๐Ÿ˜”. For all the years I go to Lagos that I stay in Festac, 1st avenue especially light na wahala o.
Just came back again last week. We could go for 2 weeks without light. The roads are very bad. No drainages. Usually flooded when it rains.
Festac has indeed lost its initial glory.
The sound of generator from almost every house in festac can deafen someone.
I grew up in festac extension mile 2 estate. Even that area sef dey get light pass festac.

Mile 2 Extension wey be less than 5% of FESTAC in size, and by the way it depends on the community or area wey you de as per light issue
No de use that that place to compare FESTAC for anything, place wey no big reach 2 streets for FESTAC

Black face, faze alone and 2face use to hang out there.

I remember vividly, FESTAC town used to have a game house where you convert your Naira to Coins to play games

Only Banks, Nipost and Shoprite Mall are the only valuable things at festac now

This guy na G, what about FESTAC NEWS

festac in the 90s n early 2000s was a sight to behold.very serene and secured but the moment they started selling it to the highest bidder, yahoo boys and all sorts of clowns, I knew it was over

FHA were heavily to blame for the decay. They sold everything including the playgrounds.

I remember our cooker and fridges used to be provided by FHA free of charge. There was even a phone on the corridor of our block when we moved in circa 80s.

Festac was compared to Ikoyi back in the day.

The best environment for any kids
Made friends with kids from ECOWAS quarters and Morroco
Wasn't all wonderland though. Festac was rough too. Especially 4th Avenue. Festac college was the roughest secondary school in the town. Followed by Festac Grammar School and that all girls school. I've forgotten the name. ๐Ÿ˜„

So you don't know that those places you are mentioning are where the indigens stays, more like their "villages" dating back to hundreds of years, including Lagos Island.
Moreover this post is not even about low or high income it is about keeping your environment clean. Majority of the people living in Festac are Igbos ( mind you they bought most of the houses from people) but look at the environmental damage they have done to the place.

I understand but if you're talking about environmental damage, the areas I mentioned which are mostly occupied by Yorubas, such as Orile and Mazamaza are also in similar or worse shape

I said in the town o. Not outside the town. No matter the level of roughness of the FESTAC boys they run when Awori and Agboju amuwo boys show up.

Festac boys dey normally dey beat them for football match so you need to discharge before match finish otherwise dem go design your body with broken bottle.

Exactly ๐Ÿ’ฏ you are correct. Generally Nigerians don't take good care of their environment. The reason I mentioned Igbos is because they are found of saying "Yorubas are dirty" but go to anywhere they predominately occupy it is always very nasty. I lived between East and South South for 27 years and I see how dirty their environment can be. So you that is kettle is calling pot black. I don't know the tribe that you belong to but I have lived, worked, schooled in all the nooks and crannies of Nigeria, I have been to all the states in Nigeria,we don't generally clean our environments.

Festac Town has lost its glory. Bad roads and shops everywhere. Almost all ground floor of block of flats have been converted to business centres. Duplexes are not left out in the madness. The last time Festac Town had a good serenity of environment was in the early 2000s.

I miss the town though cos I was born and bred there.

The first time I visited festac maybe 1992 then very clean town water never stop running today

If you visit festac in the early 80's.....You go know say , the government need to send all the people currently living there packing......And demolish or renovate and resurrect the old festac.......
In the 80's during school holiday , sometimes I stayed with my uncle , who was living on old ojo road, he will take me and his kids to festac to play in the park....they have Park 1 - 12 , if I remember properly..... Well , equipped park .eg swing etc......

You will see lots of trees , fresh air , hardly you won't see dirt's on the road , except from some dried fallen leaves , .......
You can't drive from Agboju bus stop in inward and outward Festac , they blocked it with huge broken concrete blocks ...but the Market was there. .

Dude soo you are pained cos your trybes menh can afford to buy houses or rent houses in festac, but rather live in ajegunle, orile, MAZAMAZA, agboju etc. Isheri is just an outskirts of festac go there and see the wonders that men are building.
Govt didn't give permission for residents or house owner to build, demolish and reconstruct their choice of architecture.

It was called Mad House. I never liked it because it was too rough. There was one game house between 322 Road A close and 41 Road A close. I think it was called Mega something.

Na there I learn play snooker. Even my parents knew it was my spot. The guys who ran the place were decent. Clientele weren't too bad either. Place got raided a number of times by police.

I remember leaving the venue to go to Video Mart on night, I tried to open the door but it was locked and I thought it was strange. I could see people inside. So I left. Only to find out it was a stick up robbery taking place.
