Disgrace is good it lleads to change

How old are you were you around when Westerhof arrived in Nigeria in 1989

He had a terrible start

There . We focus too much on short term non issues

Yesterdays' result does not tell me anything about Finidi
I agree with you. Left for me he should not be sacked. Let him fail until he succeeds so long as he desires to succeed and is actively working towards it. We love immediate results too much.

Based on reports in OGN and Score, NFF doesn't look like they would fire FG. In that case, I feel and think we would miss out with FG still in charge.

this attacking football will continue to hunt us if we are not careful, we don't have the full spine for that now, that's what Rohr and Paseiro saw and tried to manage but our arrogance that we have it all will continue to be our bane. If we like make we no hear word, we will continue to cry over what we don't have
Me I Port follow Peseiro when I saw how our defense was like a wall of Gibraltar. Impregnable.

Charlesemeka85 convince me say fancy football will not take us nowhere.

The only snag with Peseiro was that the structure he played requires utmost physical exertion and he did not properly rotate his team.

Thank you very much. Humility33 clearly wanted Finidi. All because he didn't want Amunike, he wanted Finidi, a man he knew nothing about from a tactical coaching perspective. All those who chose Finidi or preferred Finidi just so that Amunike should not be considered should sit tight coz Finidi is our coach for now.

Una wanted this Finidi ride, not so? We dey here together. Lol

Doc leave Oga Humble for me, let him come and sheleye again about our coach, Imagine him mentioning Austin to take over, chaii

If we sack Finidi now, we would be making the same mistakes we made with JPes
JPes also made mistakes, then he stumbled on a formula that worked for him and used it to get to AFCON finals
We let him go with all the knowledge he had

If we sack Finidi now, the instability will affect the players and possibly results (think Napoli this past season)

Let's stick with him and maybe the technical committee should monitor his call-ups from henceforth

Let's invite our best players in Europe and not all these half cooked players in Npfl and Tanzania leagues
Then we might have a chance
Totally agree

Yes we have a problem defensively, but we have an even bigger problem offensively.

Since the World cup qualifiers started we have played a total of 14 games and have scored a total of 14 goals. With our supposed world class attacking roster we average just one goal a game. We are struggling to score goals and the simple reason is because we've been figured out offensively.

Nigeria for the most part plays through the wings to score. Any coach worth his salt who has watched enough of our tapes will easily figure that out. Once upon a time we have skillful players like J.J (maybe Mikel) who provided options for us who could drive the ball through the middle and get some defensive attention freeing the wings a little. Now we don't have that.

South Africa and Benin just focused their defensive on Lookman and Chukwueze. The middle was the freest in both games but we had no player who could take the initiative to go through the middle. If we had explored both we probably would have scored more goals. This is where players in the mold of Eze and Olise could help.

Guess how we scored both goals? Fisayo and Onyedika through the middle.

You're not the coach and you noticed this grin grin grin grin

that means you're intelligent and also that local coaches like Finidi rely on luck and hope to win matches and S.E is in trouble with such coaches..

When I saw Onyedika's goal I thought Finidi or one of his coaches would have the intelligence of telling the players to use the wings to misdirect Benin players then pass the ball to the Penalty Arc of the Benin box and tell one of the players to roam around the penalty arc the same way Foden or De Bruyne roams there...

S.E obviously don't do offensive drills in training.. but they should at least show urgency and intent the way Super Falcons play...

Another thing is Alhassan Yusuf, Onyeka and Onyedika are meant to be starting players and un-benchable..

S.E needs DMs like Ucheibe , Deborah Abiodun and Ayinde that will chase and track players and only Onyeka, Yusuf and Nwakali mark that way... Nwakali is an abomination on this thread.

no matter how we see it,Nigeria is not ripe for a local coach......no matter the sins of a foreign coach, they are more fair with their selections.
This is just the point. It's not a matter of competence. We are simply not mature to believe in a local coach. Even the local coaches themselves don't inspire faith. A white man even if he's on the same level of competence with our local coach, he not on the same level of authority with them. White men usually command more authority. Call it colonial mentality if you like. I'm sure even many of us believe more in whitey than our own.

Without authority, no matter how competent or knowledgeable you go just dey TheGoodJoe talking sweet theories. When them punch you for mouth like Benin punch Finidi, you'd get confused and start making thoughtless substitutions.

You have singled out 2 persons from my list. Good, now tell us what Iwobi offers to that team other than pass. Yeye pass. To shoot na work. Check Onyedika now.. We need Nwakali please.

Nwabali cannot lace Okoye's boot. Passing around balls to defenders doesn't translate to a good keeper. He has cost useless Uzoho kinds of Goals. Fans will soon have his time. End.
Pls point out Uzoho kind of goals Nwabali conceded, pls point it out.

And tell us any remarkable performance from Okoye in Super eagles, just tell me one.

Yes I gave kudos to Okoye for his outstanding performances with Udinese but get it clear Okoye is not better than Nwabali.

Yes I agreed with you on Nwakali.

Sack Finidi. Sack Finidi. Sack Finidi.

I am of the same ethnic stock as Finidi but I cannot in all honesty advocate for him to continue in the helms as Super Eagles coach.

It cannot get worse. The knife has been shoved deeper and twisted in our heart and we'll eventually bleed to death. WE CANNOT QUALIFY. That:s the realistic diagnosis. .

We lose nothing from sacking Funidi.

Sacking Finidi is bye to football without formation and tactics.

Sacking Finidi is bye to poor defensive setup.

Sacking Finidi is bye to unmerited call-ups.

Sacking Finidi is bye to questionable player invitations.

Sacking Finidi is bye to home-based quota.

Sacking Finidi is bye to susceptibility to NPFL journalists and their envelope-induced hyping of home-based players.

NFF should do fast and sack him.
That NPFL will continue to do them in. They will never learn. After Keshi used them to win 2013 Afcon, how did that pan out subsequently? Our best are in Europe! Take it or leave it. But be ready to face the music when the beat changes.

Oga rest. Even Guardiola wouldn't be able to replicate his tiki-taka suffocating possession playing style with the Super Eagles.

You know why?

1. Our players don't have it in their DNA.

2. Our players are bang average with the exception of maybe 1 or 2.

3,. Our players don't have the stamina and the work ethic to impose that kind of suffocating pressure on their opponents.

4. That kind of style requires months/years of continuous training to master, time which is not available in national team football.

You need to be realistic and pragmatic, and stop building castles in the sky with this your fantasy of tiki-taka possession based football.
May tiki taka perish!

There is no conjecture. Amunike's work with the U20 was where my admiration for Amunike was drawn. They did not qualify but his approach was fantastic. Also, we can view his coaching, and playing pattern. And, finally, we have seen some of the extent of his imaginative idea.

So Mr. Go and Rest Jare. What were your reasons of picking Finidi?

It is about training and approach.

Finally, we have little

More fair? Fairness isn't by local or foreign. It is down to the actual selection decision-making competence of the individual involved.

Was it not Lars Lagerback who also picked nonsense? Rohr, in his final 2 years with us was rubbish too in his selections and decision makings.

We have had them both local and foreign mess us up in terms of selection.

Not ripe for a local coach? Was Festus Onigbingbe from Togo when he led Nigeria to Afcon Silver in 1984?? Amodu Shuaibu remains the only coach who has qualified Nigeria successfully for 2 World Cups AND HE IS BLOODY LOCAL.

It is the choice of local coaches that matter. So snap out of your delusional fallacy.

I miss Amodu. On both occasions he did it on rescue mission - when other mess up. Unfortunately, each time he qualifies after Afcon third place finish, the tiki taka crew will mount pressure on a willing NFA to recruit a foreign coach (for perceived cutback).

Na wah.

All of a sudden, Nigeria can not shoot shot from long range.

The same Nigeria that we had U17 boys hitting shots like flying carpets from the time of John Obuh to Manu Garba and even Amunike.

We need to get back to taking our training seriously and scouting.

1994 set are not the problem,
some of them might not be good enough,
but how about some of them that are good?

Siasia played good football with U20 WC and Olympic silver to show for it,
Keshi won us AFCON,
Amuneke won us U17 World cup.

Oliseh and Finidi can b said to b woeful,
Eguaveon failed but not woeful.

Six of them have been tried on d national team job,
three of them was successful, three of them failed.

So how do u justify getting rid of them entirely when some has proven to b successful?

Mine is not if they are good or not. Mine is on how they were criticising and belittling Rhor's success. When it's their own they won't see anything wrong.

In other news, Beyond Limit that used to be the youth team of Remo Stars until it evolved into its own entity just gained promotion into the NPFL. 3 other clubs including Ikorodu City, Elkanemi Warriors and Nasarawa United all gained promotion into the NPFL next season. We now have 2 new private clubs in the NPFL, hoping that Sporting Lagos do not relegate.

What's more impressive to me is the fact that Beyond Limit did this with young boys. If you know the NPFL, you'll see it's littered with egbon adugbos and players very well advanced in age. Beyond limit however had a young roster and still gained promotion. Kunle Soname is doing fantastic work there.
