You made some reasonable points but a larger part of your argument is absolutely flawed:

Most of your criticism was mostly targeted at average Nigerians trying to eke out a good living and seeking for a better life, which they’re well within their rights to seek. If you can’t be empathetic about their plight then do make mockery and act savagery about their situation.

Nigeria is one of the richest countries in the world in terms of resources in Africa alone we’re Top 3 globally we’d be polled and fall in-between the Top 30 out of the UN recognized 195 countries of the world. Yet we’re still a third-world and developing country asides from Lagos, Abuja and some of few other cities in Nigeria, most of parts of our country have a semblance with failed states and bordering on “ 4th World “ if there’s a word like that. Why are we living in such tumultuous and dire conditions? Pray tell….its the politicians, the useless scoundrels, vacuous, uninspiring, retarded, directionless, rogues, greedy, self-serving fools we have had at the helms of affairs since independence.

The political and economic brigands who have mortgaged the past, present, foreseeable and even the distant future of millions of Nigerians.

The type that would misappropriate, allocate, and have a jamboree on the common patrimony of all Nigerians.

To whom much is given much is expected, and your Claim that low income and middle income Nigerians should be burdened with extra tax so your politicians, cronies, sons, and other members of their family can keep stashing our commonwealth, in tax havens like Panama, or Swiss accounts, acquire more properties and relocate to Dubai, share Eko Atlantic and a large chunk of Ikoyi, Banana Island properties to themselves and cronies? It’s utter nonsense and it’s not gonna happen.

No Nigerian should be paying taxes, until all the billions of dollars that’s been stolen from our national coffers, have been recovered, repatriated, accounted for and judiciously expended.

Until the EFCC stop being a political witching hunting too and curb and totally end the economic skirmishes that the Nigerian state has been experiencing for ages.

A dunderhead sits his ass down in Abuja, earning 30m naira monthly for doing nothing aside’s puerile and frivolous activities like changing the anthem but no, increase tuition fees in public universities and government cutting subventions and removing educational subsidy is what should be our priority. Any missteps by the Federal government would be the last salvo and its Achilles at this very tense moment.

Lastly the remittances from Nigerians in the Diaspora has been the one of highest means of earning forex and generating revenue, stimulating the Nigerian economy. If an embargo was placed on emigration 10 years ago Nigeria could be in a state of nature now. Lol

Na wa ooo

They should divert them to Rwanda, Nigeria is already over populated.

I feel like pitting this citizen refugee but when I remember that this same folk of UK-Lizards are dizzing their own country online everyday, because they went to do houseboy and house-girl work in UK, I end up giving no Sh*t about them.

I saw a trend were an overgrown baby male hippo was kneeling down and thanking his ancestors that he made it to UK for slavery, I knew that 90% of Nigerians are foolish. Walai!

The more astonishing thing is that this fools sold almost all their investments, properties and still borrowed more to relocate to that place, should be recorded as the 10th wonder of the world of foolishness.

I better leave in YEMEN than stay in that sh!thole called UK again.
The greatest joy of my life was relocating my family from that Oliver twist sh!thole to Sweden.

Not all Japa is worth it, japaring to the UK shouldn't be seen as an achievement but a setback.

The last time I visited there for a business trip, I hurriedly dusted my slippers and put it under my armpit and run for my life.

YOU NEED SPECIAL GRACE TO SURVIVE IN THE UK

As regards your request I’d think about it 😉

Well, Nigeria has her troubles but the land is exceedingly blessed and we have great and amazing people in our midst.

For them I would always be a proud Nigerian and I would always speak for them. We all deserve much much better!

It is time the Nigerian government places a 10year embargo on the siphoning of Nigerian earned funds to sustain academic infrastructures in UK, US, Canada, and any other country Nigerians are going to for education tourism.

Only a foolish country allow people to ship off funds earned in that economy to benefit another economy, without paying any tax to the economy where the funds was earned.

They will sell property in Nigeria and pocket all the money to go donate to another economy, yet no tax is paid on the sale of that property to the economy where the wealth was acquired.

Imagine all the best income earners in Nigeria spending the bulk of their Nigerian earnings on the undergraduate education of their children or their own postgraduate education abroad, after the heavily subsidized undergraduate education that Nigeria provided them to secure those jobs in Nigeria that funded their ambition to wear winter jackets in Europe and North America?

Any country that does not understand the intricacies of economic national security, will keep wondering why its economy continue to flounder.

Even the countries receiving Nigerian funds know how to prioritize their own national economic security, and make policy changes from time to time to ensure that the academic tourists remain only a source of net foreign remittance into their own economy instead of a net subtractive parasite.

I will say it again, the prevailing time is not one to allow your best income earners take funds out of the Nigerian economy without as much as a 50kobo tax on their destructive drain of our national wealth.

Anyone that wants to go abroad for education should find a way to get a job in that country and raise the funds from the income earned in that country.

CBN should with immediate effect prohibit any transfers from a Nigerian account to any foreign academic institution for a period of 10years, while the government should simultaneously raise the school fees to something tangible that you save for years ahead, instead of the rubbish fees that is not up to the pocket money the students spend in a month.

Or is UK or Canada or US tuition fees for local student the kind of amount that local student will spend on buying burgers in a month?

So why are Nigerian universities charging money for 1month shawarma as annual tuition fees?

Charge well, pay lecturers well, and still have enough to upgrade and maintain the education infrastructure in Nigeria.

Goddammit!

You are daft!

Mumu man, you think you have brain abi.

The polithiefcians you are supporting, are their students studying not studying abroad? Why do you want to force the child of a common man to study in Nigeria angry

Mumu pipu like you are the real problem of Nigeria. Instead of saying the fact and criticize the unfortunate polithiefcians that are looting our common wealth, stealing billion of Dollars and keeping it in foreign countries for while the masses has little or nothing to live on. Idiot pipu like you will still want this polithiefcians to enact devilish policies to imporverish the common man. You are a real wicked human being.

The government should increase school fees in a country where the minimum wage is not enough to buy a bag of rice? Do you even have brain at all. Or you are just trying to sound intelligent angry.

With the amount of resources we have in Nigeria, its no big deal if education at any level is free for all like it was when the present set of Polithiefcians were studying in the nineties.

You mentioned countries like America, UK, and Canada having expensive tuition fees, what about the support systems like student loans, graduate assistantships, fellowships e.t.c that are available for the masses to benefit from and with this education is made accessible for all. Even in those countries, sensible human beings are still holding the government on their neck to make quality education more accessible.

In several EU countries, education is free for all their citizens at all levels. Mumu somebody like you will not see this and hold your polithiefcians on their neck to copy such policies that will make the government to allocate resources in the right places. Instead they will be spending money for buying SUVs for senators and renovating VP houses with million of dollars.

You are a confirm Mumu man for saying migration is the reason for dollar scarcity in Nigeria, what about the billion of dollars being stolen by polithiefcians every year? what about the billions being spent on buying SUVs for senators among others.?

Yea, na una normal format...blame the people and not the politicians for the mismanagement of Nigeria's economy. By the way, is it your property or your money. People can spend their money they way they please so long as it's legal. And why would expect people to pay taxes when the government doesn't provide anything to them. Does Nigeria have a social security net for its citizens? What exactly does an average Nigerian benefit from the government. People in government misuse our common patrimony and you still want us to continue to fund their excesses. In many parts of Nigeria, the people provide their own water , electricity and even build their own roads. And yet, you and your kind expect them to pay taxes.

That guy is an APC informant. Unfortunate somebody.

There are good hardworking conscientious people in Nigeria even by a glance of the posts here.

Every country deserve the politicians that rule them because instead of fighting back they melt when backed into the wall.

Yes, some of our students might have overdone it fighting for Chancellor of University of Lagos or fighting for subsidized food but they were at least, alive to their civic responsibilities.

This colomentality of leaders and average citizens subsidizing rich economies all over the world is insane. Ask those who studied abroad in those days. They worked full-time and schooled full-time to pay their ways. Some even have families at home to support. Despite all these, they return home to become your teachers in various fields.

We now have irresponsible leaders that followers cannot hold accountable. Someone suggested that until they purge all the leaders of their loot, nobody should pay taxes or fees for them to steal.

Fair and noteworthy. But who is going to hold them accountable? Instead of Labor Unions and the poor to fight the most outrageous salaries for politicians in the world, they want 100,000k minimum wage! This nah craze.

We've lost our way and sensibility. Money has no value, it is what you do with it that has value. In the countries we run to, they hate inflation and the Scandinavian countries care about the difference between minimum and maximum salaries.

Face it, most of us are worse than our leaders and would do worse if given the chance to lead.

Don't be myopic. A great percent of Nigerians in the diaspora send money back home. The government knows this and is already preparing programs to tap into it.

You are here lamenting about winter jacket. Poverty has done so much harm to the psyche of the average Nigerian.

Why via the study route though? That seems like so much stress.

Not stressful.

Just get your living expense in your account and make part payment of your fees and you are issued a CAS. The interview process at UKVI is 'waka' pass. But once you enter the country and spend your living expense, then the school will make sure you pay all your fees otherwise, they will notify the home office to send you back, which means your money don finish.

Despite raking in at least $129,000 per year, Melvin Carter's federal loans were forgiven.

St. Paul Mayor Melvin Carter is off the hook for his federal student loans, and he has credited President Joe Biden for his good fortune.
In a May 29 tweet, Carter posted a screenshot of his account on federal student loan servicer MOHELA with zero-dollar figures in his "payments due" category with the attached caption, "Thank you, Mr. President!” Carter’s post included a quote-tweet of Biden which bragged, “the Supreme Court tried to block me from relieving student debt. But they didn’t stop me. I’ve relieved student debt for over 5 million Americans. I'm going to keep going."
