Anything that doesn't fox the basics is bound to fail Reduce importation of consumables.... Those going everywhere in the world looking for what to import to Nigeria all in the name of doing business, should be encouraged to see the bigger picture and start producing at home... if they need to pool funds/merge businesses together to achieve this, them so be it... All this importation of slippers, oil filter, tomato paste, fake China clothes etc and be doing big man while hurting the economy need to stop. All this hotels we are building everywhere, use that space to build a small manufacturing enterprise and produce something....the same light you use to power rooms for short rest and play music at the bar, can actually be used to run equipments that melt metal into spare parts or mold plastic into shoes Boost production 8 Likes |

I am utterly shocked that people have not understood the calamitous economic decisions Tinubu took. He has single handedly finished whatever was remaining of Nigeria. Inflation will hit 200%. I tell you. If Nigerians are still in love with their country, they should be on the streets now to pressure this government to reverse all its wrong economic decisions. Otherwise, its over for Nigeria. You will see soon. 5 Likes |

Many ways to curb inflation 1. Price control 2. Availability of electricity to remove dependence on PMS to generate power. 3. Address insecurities so that people can work on their jobs/businesses/farms without being threatened. 4. Encourage business owners to build things and the masses to buy them. 5. On transport, encourage production and price control of pms to avoid price surges every time. 4 Likes |

If you are patriotic and honest enough, you would know that Nigeria has no choice than to continue borrowing. Nigeria will approach world bank soon for another loan. The current government is confused. Only if he did not listen to those who advised him to devalue the currency. helinues: 1 Like |

Nothing concern Yoruba concern economy, Yorubas are only good in media propaganda, political activism, and maybe legal representation, but when it comes to economy, trade, commerce and money, it belongs naturally to the Igbos, but tribalism and wickedness made Buhari and Tinubu to sideline Igbos in those critical economic sectors and see where it has landed Nigeria? Check when Soludo and Ngozi Okonjo Iweala were in charge of Nigeria's economy and CBN, at all at all, Nigeria's economy was booming against all odds 5 Likes 2 Shares |

nasek:Their solutions was to remove subsidy and to stop multiple exchange rate. But that was implemented and nothing good came out of it. They sold a dummy to Tinubu Government. Their next solutions is to increase tax, again that will put a final nail to the coffin. They will never suggest the real solutions to Nigerian government, know this and know peace. The Western world are evil. 1 Like 1 Share |

nasek:If you had reading comprehension skills beyond those of a primary school student, you'd have realized that the solution you seek has already been offered by the World Bank - the CBN needs to raise interest rates a lot higher, and a lot more aggressively than it has done. Even with all the hikes to date, real interest rates are still negative, which is utterly ridiculous, since it means anyone wanting to preserve the purchasing power of their savings must either seek out inflation-proof assets like gold or property, or else dump the Naira for more stable foreign currencies in the hope of riding out the inflationary wave. In short, the World Bank is only spelling out the obvious, as much as that may fly over the heads of ignoramuses like you. 3 Likes |

iwaeda: The World Bank and her sister IMF does not need to tell us. We are well aware that this CBN governor will most likely be worse than the previous. They only know economics written on paper. They can't translate it into reality. Let him continue with his trial and error approach. E still good say it will be written as an achievement to have risen to become governor of a nation's central bank. 3 Likes 1 Share |

Blazetrailer:As if all the recycled angry gibberish you wrote demonstrates anything other than your ability to spew the kind of nonsense other ignorant Nairalanders want to read. Do you even have the first clue why Tinubu was forced (yes, forced) to adopt the measures he took in the first place? Do you think he wouldn't have preferred to play to the gallery of entitled semi-illiterates like you for cheap popularity if he had any choice in the matter? Here's the answer: worldwide interest rates rose sharply over the last 2 years, meaning the cost of servicing all that debt accumulated under both GEJ and Buhari was no longer sustainable for a federal government already burdened with gigantic subsidies on both petrol and electricity. Something had to give, and if Tinubu had chosen to default on foreign loans for the sake of keeping fuel and electricity prices artificially low, Nigeria would have been cut off from international financial markets for a decade or more, and the current hardship you think you're enduring would seem like a luxury holiday by comparison. Honestly, it's tiresome seeing all of you loudmouths confidently rambling on about matters of which you have absolutely no comprehension. You're the same sorts of buffoons who think you can tell Christian Ronaldo how he should be playing while sitting in bukas nursing your pot bellies with bottles of stout. 2 Likes 3 Shares |

nasek: The World Bank can't proffer solutions to a country's economic issues, they can only advise. It's IMF that tries to do that and they usually give bad suggestions. IMF told Buhari to devalue the naira and he simply said NO, that was the difference between dollars being 450 and 1500 now. Buhari was also advised to remove subsidy, he said NO, but Tinubu followed all their advice and see where the country is now... 3 Likes |

sleek214: Nigeria's government was not forced to accept the advice of the World Bank and the IMF. The country could have walked away, continued subsidies, and pegged the Naira to the dollar at $50 to $1, except the country had no reserves or FX earnings. Nigeria low productivity and high debt profile were the main instrument that force the government to remove subsidies and float the Naira |
