The problem started when they opened their doors for franchise players.

People who wanted to start restaurant business but don’t want to go through the effort of creating a new brand and growing customers .
Instead ; they apply, pay some recurring fees , be brand materials , recipes , menu and business starts with customers flooding in .

While this looked like massive chain growth , they couldn’t enforce the meals have the same quality and taste accords board . Franchise members started adding their stuff . Why not ! It’s their business .

Then once a customer have a bad experience at an outlet , they start looking for alternatives sub consciously and they’ll feel all outlets are bad .
Seeing that their logo mimics McDonalds, the could have learnt a thing or two from how McDonalds handled franchising.
The movie the Founders comes to mind

Do you notice that where there's MR BiGGs, a chicken Republic outlet is beside or opposite near by.

Are you going to pay for consultation?

They decentralised the system (chefs) and give individual franchise free as access to operates with their own chefs.

That only could not make them manage over 170 outlets of it across the Nation.

The taste and low quality of their products drove their customers to their competitors like TFC, Sweet sensation and the rest.

Lol I remember eating my first meat pie in life from Mr Biggs, I didn't like it but my dad forced me to eat it because it was the only snack we could get on the go, now I chase meat pie all over town wherever there's a fresh well made one, I remember their meat pie used to be weighty with a lot of meat in it, not the crap people do these days and stuff potatoes in it and say it's meat pie, too bad all that is no more because of naija economy, they had to compete with chicken republic, KFC and the likes, they didn't survive it, normally you need to innovate and adapt, they refuse to do that, so it just died naturally, another brand heading same way rn is Tito, they'll soon cease to exist like Mr Biggs, I had fond memories of that brand growing up.
Your post is quite insightful but you are making a mistake here. Mr. Biggs outlets have NOT ceased to exist especially in Lagos. There's one popular Mr. Biggs outlet at a fuel station along Oba Akran Avenue in Ikeja.

Nothing lasts forever. At least they did two decades in the business. I remember eating at one of the last Mr Bigg's spots in Abuja as at 2010.

The one in FHA Lugbe lasted till the pandemic. It has been remodeled as Chicken Republic and Kilimanjaro came calling.

They have tried honestly

Back then Mr Biggs was the Disneyland of Nigeria. I still have kodak pictures of me and my cousins eating big fat chicken grin during our long vacation holidays...

One of the biggest pioneers of fast food in Nigeria since early 2000's. You have tried cry
It's not easy at all.

Mr Biggs gave us childhood memories that can never be forgotten.. Going to Mr Biggs right after school was the greatest feeling ever cheesy

Thanks you Mr Biggs for all these years ❤️

Since early 2000s? I knew of Biggs since the 80s.

The main reason is their major investor, UAC divested from the business and from then on they didn't have the financial strength to compete.

What happened to tantalizers too?

Lack of integrity. I took a lecture on this sometime ago using Mr Biggs as a case study. Though I learnt it was a licensed company. But how can a company like Mr Biggs be selling the same food at different prices in different branches and with different tastes? I knew there'll be issues within a short time. A lesson to learn

Let's gather and discuss
Mr. Biggs outlets are still around and haven't ceased to exist especially in Lagos. They only faced more robust competition from other brands such as KFC, Tasty Fried Chicken, and more.

It's now Mr small. UAC Foods divested into on-the-go tab-nabs because Nigerians like to eat on the road.

Most drinks and sausages sells better on the road than in outlets, so they follow them enter roads too.

By the mid-2000s, Mr Biggs had lost its position as the undisputed leader of the Nigerian fast-food market. It was no longer the go-to destination for families seeking a quick and affordable meal. The brand had become synonymous with inconsistency, poor quality, and a lack of innovation.

Some years back, I went to an outlet in osogbo, I bought rice and chicken. Lo and behold, the chicken tasted raw blood. It was half cooked. I had to recook it since it was take away. I bought snacks also which I regretted buying. That was the last time I ever entered any building with Mr Biggs logo
