increase the welfare of all paramilitary operatives and introduce a stiffer penalty for sharp practices. Recruit Only qualified personnel and erase all form of malpractice in recruitment exercises. Lastly, ensure transparency in all government operations by going digital, what I mean is that all government transactions should be carried out digitally and made public for the world to see

This is impossible!

Point of Correction - Some of them, not All!
I still give these Security Officers Kudos,if you know what Buba-Mawa's Men,( NDLA),NAFDAC,etc are increasingly facing in Nigeria drug scenes, you pray and pity them
That is why the Govt-must be increasing their Salaries and Allowances on timely basis because the other Criminals are ready to settle them beyond their dreams.
These drugs Lords are all over the World and they only run away from places/ Counties where there is swift execution like- China,Asian Countries,Saudi Arabia, Vietnam, Philippines,Cambodia, etc.

As long as politicians are doing their own customs, immigration, police, army and everyone should be doing their own. Nigeria isn't worth it. Let's join hands and see to its demise.

It is advisable for you to stay on your constructive criticism lane rather than this your personal attack lane

Seems you don't know customs or most agencies in the port. Give them 2M as minimum wage, then the level of curruption will be the highest. Nigerians are no more contented with what they have or earn, no more dignity in labour, everyone of them want to get real estate and fleet of cars like celebrities before retirement. We see these everyday. The more digital, the more the curruption. I tire for Nigeria agencies of today.

Adjusted for headline inflation, food inflation, fuel price increase and foreign exchange movement, the current wage level has lost its value and would need to be tripled to restore the purchasing power of the working class. An average worker, whether they are on public or private sector payrolls, the analysis suggests, will need an almost 200 per cent pay raise to maintain the 2019 utility level, otherwise, they will slip further below the poverty index.

The Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Adewale Adeniyi, has revealed that drug barons are increasingly recruiting customs officers and officials of bonded terminals into their drug trafficking operations to evade security checks. Same as the military also combined with navy officers to steal Nigeria oil by participating in oil bunkry they should be arrested and shame too. All Nigeria sections is corrupt.

The network is so strong. It's from top-down. I pray it doesn't take time before Nigeria heals from these woes. What the NY Times said about this regime is mind-boggling.
The hard drugs cartels or networks have been in existence for decades now in Nigeria... Right from the late 1970s. This is why when the General Buhari/Tunde Idiagbon military regime introduced the death penalty for drug traffickers who were actually executed via firing squad, the thing died down. I remember it sent fear into the hard drug barons and traffickers. After General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida got into goverment following the military coup, the cases of drug barons and drug traffickers spiked again.

The death of Gloria Okon (a drug trafficker) in the late 1980s in detention while she was gearing up to reveal more info about her sponsors was a pointer to the fact that she had prominent backers. Dele Giwa's famous investigative Newswatch magazine was following leads on that Gloria Okon drug trafficking case and this is likely one of the reasons why he was killed via a parcel bomb delivered to his off Allen Avenue residence in Ikeja, Lagos in 1986.

Why go this far? Did your current president forfeit $460,000 for drug related matter? We are talking of present tense and you are talking past participle.

The Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Adewale Adeniyi, has revealed that drug barons are increasingly recruiting customs officers and officials of bonded terminals into their drug trafficking operations to evade security checks.

Adeniyi disclosed that the NCS had made significant progress in identifying such corrupt elements within and outside the service who facilitated the movement of drug consignments without proper examination.

Speaking at an event showcasing a major drug seizure at the Tin-Can Port, Adeniyi emphasised that those involved would face severe legal consequences.

During the weekend, Adeniyi displayed approximately N4.2bn worth of seized hemp, highlighting that the NCS was intensifying its scrutiny on the activities of “unscrupulous customs officers” to eliminate them from the system, noting that some indicted officers were found to be collaborating with bonded terminal operators to expedite the clearance of drug shipments.

He said, “I assure you that the service will soon name, shame and arrest those involved. The modus operandi of the syndicate involves moving imported containers from the port on transit without proper examination, diverting them to private premises instead of bonded warehouses.”

He acknowledged the collaborative efforts of sister agencies, particularly the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), in combating drug trafficking.

Until the death penalty is brought back in form of the firing squad, death by hanging, lethal injections or death by electric chair, this thing that has gone on for decades will NOT stop

Kudos to NDLEA and the Customs for busting a lot of these crimes, but the weak legal punishments is the major problem with dealing with those criminals in the Nigerian hard drugs cartels. Period.
