Some gunmen, who were enforcing sit-at-home, have reportedly killed many people and injured others in two Anambra communities. The gunmen invaded Nnewichi community in Nnewi north LGA and Nnobi community in Idemili south LGA, on Monday morning. At Nnewichi community, the gunmen were said to have invaded a hotel after discovering that some persons were having a meeting there. The gunmen started shooting sporadically at the hotel premises, while destroying properties.

The assailants were said to have killed Oseloka Ubajiekwe, head of the vigilante group and chief security officer of the community, while he was attempting to wade off the attackers. Those who sustained injuries have been taken to various hospitals in the state. At Nnobi community, the gunmen shot sporadically to scare away residents and engaged in gun duels with security operatives.

Confirming the attacks in a statement, Tochukwu Ikenga, Anambra police spokesperson, said only three persons, including a 22-year-old lady, have been confirmed dead.

“The commissioner of police, CP Nnaghe Obono Itam, has ordered an immediate manhunt operation on the armed men operating in a red Highlander jeep, who abducted a citizen in Nnewi by 1:30 pm yesterday 17/6/2024 and were trailed to Nnobi, where they engaged security operatives in a gun battle,” Ikenga said.

During the gun duel, one of the security operatives was fatally hit by the bullet and due to the indiscriminate shootings by the hoodlums in an attempt to escape the scene, the bullet also fatally struck two innocent passersby in the area.

“The police responding team at the scene recovered the bodies of the victims and took them to the hospital but regrettably, three of the victims including a 22-year-old lady were confirmed dead by the doctors on duty while two others are currently receiving treatment.”

Last two years people were applauding and cheering these monsters when they were dismantling checkpoints, killing security men and other law enforcement agents. I kept shouting and telling our people, Ndígbo that a time will come when the chickens will come home to roost. When they no longer see police and army to kill, they'll kill us. Now is happening. Police and Army have retired to their barracks. They rarely patrol. That's why all sort of criminals are now on the lose in the South East.

Ndígbo should stop being hypocrites. We are hypocrites. When Army is ready to flush these nihilist people out, our people will start crying fowl saying that the military is killing our children. Whenever the military invade IPOB den, you'll see Ndígbo telling the Army to locate Boko Haram and leave IPOB alone. Are we not hypocrites?

I don't care what anyone would say about me. But you see truth? That's something I can never cover up. In the words of Immanuel Kant, "if the truth hurts them, let them die." I'll keep telling our people, Ndígbo the truth. I'll say the truth even at the point of death.

So Nigeria is so much a failed state that the police can no longer investigate, arrest and prosecute high profile crimes anymore but tag it to a group? So if a person wants to rob a bank in east now they will put on Biafra color and police will run away and say they are UGM or in west dressed like Fulani they will run and say it’s herdsmen or in the north put on long beards like boko haram etc….this is sad that Nigeria is now a failed state under a man the enemies of Nigeria said he built Lagos

See people wey wan take part of delta cos of Igbo-speaking population, so Biafra can spread to delta, and extend 2 edo. Anioma Ko ni. Igbo has no square inch of delta and south cos Deltans are from benin and igala and no part of souyh can be added to a part of east to form a state like some desperate fools said parts of onitsha will added to parts of delta to formna state... Imagine oh, a state seperated in 2 by river.one part controlled by bluetooth from the other. The day anioma will be created is the day Biafra will be granted and the day river Niger that separates east from south will cease 2 exist

See how y'all allowed bitterness and one useless, possessed human being turn your region into an unsafe zone!

What a pity! Igbos have knowledge to trade all over Nigeria but lack essential wisdom to run a peaceful society... Truly, wisdom can never be bought with money.
